"Hotel to avoid if you want a bubble of relaxation and well-being. Very dirty, not maintained. The hotel had canceled the reservation despite payment of the deposit. We were inevitably given a room. The hotel was empty. Freezing room, no heating, no cleaning, lamp above the bed unhooked, dangerous. We get another room and it's the same, fingerprints on the doors, dust everywhere under the bed and furniture. A horror. We preferred to flee and do nothing. "Nice and rustic, the amenities and stay was made tolerable by the fact that there are no hotels nearby and this this charming place with no elevators and a spare breakfast and no room service, serves as a jewel. For mature and level headed travelers. The staff was kind and patient but us Americans do test the French. Almost none of them spoke English but we got by handsomely."

"My wife and I were delighted to stay here during our Seine cycle trip. The location is ideal... on the Seine with a relaxing garden next to it and a rooftop sitting area for an even better view. The rooms overlooking the river are a must. They are recently updated and very comfortable. We loved our dinner and breakfast. The dinner was one of our better meals on our two week trip. We generally like to explore the area, but this hotel invites you to settle in and relax and enjoy every minute of the stay. As a bonus, the hotel offers indoor bicycle storage with racks, pumps and electrical outlets. A perfect stay for us!"

"Came across this hotel by accident after the Chambre Hotes we had booked in to proved to be of very poor standard. The Lion d'Or made us welcome and we had a clean, comfortable, quiet room plus good breakfast the following morning. A big bonus is that they have their own courtyard where you can safely park your car. Also several good restaurants are all within easy walking distance - Le Bistrot de Bernay was excellent. All in all nothing fancy, but just right for tired travellers looking for a stop-over."
