"This is our second visit (that tells you something) This time they generously gave us a free room upgrade to room 1. If we come again I’d book this room - well worth the extra over the cheaper rooms. Plenty of space, great bathroom (shower and separate bath) and a small kitchen. Double bed very comfortable. Very clean. Little kitchen included, with microwave. Tea and coffee facilities included. Only thing we thought could be improved on was the breakfast. Cooked breakfast was good, but would have been nice to have cereal and/or a bit of fruit available as well. Location is great, easy access to reserve ( entry pass included) and some good cafes. Also other walks locally- as well as the garden of the lodge itself. Parking on site, inside electric gate."

"Birds of Paradise offers a really decent place to stay for a very decent price. Being 5 minutes from Dlinza forest aerial boardwalk makes it very accessible for birdwatchers, It's a very great feeling getting to the entrance gate at opening time after an easy rest, with no driving in the dark on Eshowe's hidden speedbump roads, walking up the aerial tower and being greeted by Eastern Bronze Naped Pigeon (which generally aren't very easy to see as the day starts heating.) Also, the cook (and as of 2026, hostess) is a lovely woman, makes amazing food and has no lack of a sense of humour. You'd be hard pressed to see me staying anywhere else when I'm seeking comfort in this part of the world."
