"We chose a hotel based on its dog-friendly design, but it didn't feel that way. Upon arrival, the key was left in an envelope with no explanation, and the restaurant staff made no effort to offer any explanation. Our dog barked at another dog once, which was already a problem. We immediately requested that we leave our pet in the room. Breakfast with a dog wasn't allowed in the breakfast room (no sign was given, and hotel staff didn't explain the rules regarding pets). Breakfast was served in a passageway with unset tables and no service. Not very hospitable and not very pet-friendly."

"The review is not for Hotel Central instead for their inhouse restaurant. Didn't stay at the hotel but had couple of group dinner at the restaurant during stay at Engelberg. The group dinner was pre-booked with time slot. Both the days, Indian buffet were served which had decent options of bread, rice, veg and non-veg dishes including chicken and fish. The foods were tasty too. The restaurant has a comfy ambience and seems to be busy dining place. Overall satisfying dining of Indian cuisine at Engelberg."

The hotel is in a great, convenient spot, making it really easy to get around Engelberg, or walk from the train station. My room and the common areas were clean and well-maintained. The service was friendly and checking in was smooth."

"Always worth to have lunch/dinner here. Have been eating here always at least once when being in Engelberg. The location is very quiet and beautiful (pretty romantic). The restaurant has a cosy interior and a large terrace. The food is delicious and very worth the price you pay. This time I had a "Schnitzel vom Schwein mit Fritten" as main dish and "Emmenthaler Meringue mit Glace" as dessert. I can also recommend their cheese fondue (from my prior visits) also delicious. (Posted this review as well on google)"

"A comfortable self-service hotel, just off the train station. The self-service kitchen is great. Only one or two people use it during the off-season. The kitchen is fully equipped and you can make hot pot, barbecue, and cakes. It is recommended not to book the smallest room, as the bed is narrow or the sloping roof is a bit depressing. Book a larger room with a wide lower bed, which is comfortable for two people to sleep in."
