The Residence Douz ★★★★

"I rarely leave negative reviews, but after this experience I feel it is important to share what happened. As a regular guest of The Residence hotels, I booked several nights at The Residence Douz for a family stay and my husband’s birthday, expecting the level of service and quality usually associated with the Cenizaro group. Unfortunately, after a 7-hour drive, the reality was extremely disappointing. While the room itself was clean and comfortable, almost everything else fell far below the standards expected from a luxury hotel: * Very poor breakfast and dinner quality. * Kids Club with no activities and only one staff member present. * Broken facilities, including a damaged foosball table. * Dirty metal pool loungers without mattresses. * Unsafe umbrellas placed directly on the ground, creating a risk for children. * No service around the pool area for drinks or food. When I raised my concerns and requested to cancel the remaining nights, I was initially told it was impossible. After insisting on speaking with management, I was informed that the situation was “normal because it was not yet the season” and that pool mattresses were unavailable because they were damaged. A torn mattress was even shown to me as justification. This explanation was shocking and completely incompatible with the image of a luxury hospitality brand. Given the condition of the property and the overall experience, I decided to shorten my stay after only one night. The hotel acknowledged the issue and agreed to refund the unused nights. Amount paid: €1,280.52 Amount retained for the first night: €320.13 Refund due: €960.39 I was informed that the refund would be processed within 5 business days. Today, more than one month later, despite numerous emails, phone calls and repeated assurances that the refund has been processed, I still have not received my money. What disappoints me most is not only the condition of the hotel, but also the complete lack of follow-up and customer care afterwards. I have spent weeks chasing information, receiving promises that were never fulfilled. This experience has unfortunately damaged my trust in The Residence brand and the Cenizaro group. In fact, I cancelled a planned stay at another Residence property because I no longer felt confident in the brand’s standards or customer service. I sincerely hope the group takes this feedback seriously and resolves the refund issue without further delay."

El Mouradi Douz ★★★★

"The room is clean and tidy, with a separate wet and dry area, a beautiful environment, and a plentiful breakfast."

Sahara Douz ★★★★

"A hell - hole. Beds where sheets were not changed. Food that was below standard.400 people eating at the same time lining up for inedible sub- standard food. Exoticca clients- please find a better hotel. Good pool area with music that was LOUD."

Accommodation near Desert a Douz ★★★

"A very unique hotel, and the owner is very welcoming."

Hotel Pansy ★★★★

"This is a unique place to stay walking distance to natural oasis and Sahara dunes. Half board was mediocre at best. Staff seemed to have no desire to customer service. No wifi, rooms have AC just above bed, but either cold either AC right on you or hot either way it off. Pool was refreshing, tower offers scenic view of tents and pool."

l' OASIS Zarga ★★★

Sun Palm ★★★★

"We stayed here as part of a Sahara excursion for one night. Upon check in, a member of staff grabbed our small holdall and walked away with it to our room then wouldn’t release it until my husband gave him a tip. The room was spacious but very tatty. The beds and pillows were hard like bricks plus the the bedding itchy. There was no toilet roll in the bathroom and the towels looked dirty and had an awful odour. Luckily, we brought our own of both so used those. Toiletries and hand soap were provided but were half used by past guests which is poor for health & safety reasons. Fortunately again, we had our own to use. The shower was hand held and the spray was akin to someone spitting and the water cold. The buffet dinner and breakfast wasn’t appetising so we just had some bread and a dessert in the evening plus yogurt the following morning. The staff were unwelcoming and noticeably favoured the French guests. It was tolerable for the time we spent there."
