Millsap-Baker Estate
"We were totally shocked upon arrival. Place looked abandoned. Windows covered with spider webs, bird droppings and dirt covering outdoor furniture, rotten deck boards piled up in yard, etc. Beware because the online site is a total misrepresentation of the state the exterior property is in. There were beautiful antiques inside and at one time it might have been a show place but now it needs a thorough cleaning and repair. There was some sort of bug infestation in tall cabinet where food was stored. We declined breakfast both mornings because of it. Sad to see such a beautiful estate in such disrepair. It bothers me that people may travel long distances expecting a beautiful retreat and then be greeted by this rundown property."
Damascus Old Mill Inn
The Speckled Trout Outpost
"This was our second trip to the Brinkwaters. We were excited to relive the tremendous style that we experienced before. It's such a unique place in a little trail town. I was happy to see that we were given room 101 which looked to be the nicest room. We understood ahead of time that it was a "self serve" experience, no staff were physically onsite. I ended up being disappointed in this type of lodging experience. Some of the items we missed were: The welcome binder mentioned in the guest book which was to include the wifi password. The complementary granola mentioned in the guest book. The lack of parking adjacent to the inn. At 11pm at night one guest was watching TV and talking loudly in the common area next to our room. It was rude. Who were we to call? Finally, I went back through all the text communications with the Inn and noticed that never once were the words "Thank you" stated. No thank you for booking or staying with them was ever given."
