My son and I stayed one night in a one bedroom suite while in town to tour Vassar. The hotel’s location and nearby amenities (we walked to a very decent sushi dinner) was great. Other than that, the hotel was really loud - lots of screaming in the hallways until late at night, the people staying in the room on the other side of my head had their alarm going at 6 am for almost an hour and it might as well have been in my room. Walls don’t appear to have any sound mitigation at all. The sofa bed (where my son slept) was too uncomfortable as a bed (and the thin mattress was stained/dirty with no mattress cover) so he re-folded it into a couch. Needless to say we didn’t get much sleep. Wish I had better things to say. It’s also awkward to have to go through the bedroom to get to the one bathroom. We’ve stayed at many Residence Inns and not had this experience.
We had an unexpected stay at Homewood Suites by Hilton Poughkeepsie. Kerry Connelly and her staff were wonderful. No matter what time of day you were greeted by friendly staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. Pool, wonderful outdoor space with a fire. Welcome Wednesday night was great. If you call for extra towels there is no wait time. Pet friendly. They made us feel like home. Thank you!
There is a very strange smell in the room. I also said that it is not good. The hotel is right on the road and the transportation is very convenient. The parking lot is also very large. The front desk reception is very professional and not at all impatient.

This new property scores well on the major points: Clean room, comfortable bed and quiet. However, the entire property has a very sterile, hospital-like appearance. Breakfast was edible but that's about it. Other than the cleaning staff, who was friendly and cheerful, the rest of the staff could learn to smile and say hello. If you can get a room at a reasonable price then this hotel is a good value. But at $350+ for one night, look elsewhere.
My family and I stayed one night this past weekend. There are some definite areas in need of improvement at this location. To be fair, I'll start with the good. Check-in was easy and the front desk was friendly and helpful. The two queen sized beds were comfortable. The bathroom was stocked with Dove products like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and hand soap. The staff brought us extra towels (we had 2 in the room for a reservation for 4 people) and a blanket for the sofa bed. On the down side, the hallways smelled like a whole lot of bleach was used to clean something up, but never really got rid of the old odor. Our ”suite” was a main room with two queen beds and smaller room with a pull out couch and a desk. That room had an overhead light but no desk lamp. The mattress was awful and I feel guilty as a parent that my son slept on it. The AC/heating unit had a leak, so the carpet under it was completely soaked. In the bathroom, the shower curtain rod was coming loose from the wall so the curtain did not stay in place. This caused a bit of flood on the floor. Our room rate came with breakfast. It was not up to the level of free breakfasts I've gotten at Hampton Inn or Homewood Suites (no waffle maker!). I would not have paid the $12.99 posted for it. There was also an outdoor seating area that looked lovely on the website (not to mention a pool table that I couldn't find), but in reality was a few chairs behind the hotel next to a creek. The walk to the fitness center was confusing and a little creepy (I would avoid 100-level rooms). I'm sure someone will say that I should have brought these things to the attention of the staff, but on a one night stay it was not practical. There are many other hotels within a few miles of this one. They looked newer on the outside and I would choose any of them over this location in the future.
We travel with family and friends it's a great location easy to access the lobby, very bright lighting around the building makes me feel more secured. Nice clean room, the hotel maintain good standard of the brand very professional employee's. The manager gives pride to this hotel.
I am a Hilton Honors member and often stay at the Hampton brand and find them reliable, but this was a disappointing stay. 1. Elevators: There are only two elevators for a five story hotel. One was out of service and the wait for the sole functioning one was close to 10 minutes. 2. Internet: The wifi service was unreliable. I had to log in numerous times. 3. Water: There was only lukewarm water for a morning shower, though the water temperature was fine the night prior. 4. Thin walls: There was some sort of argument on our floor among guests in the middle of the night that woke me up and kept me up. I cannot say that I had a good night's sleep. There was no compensation on my bill. 5. Breakfast Room: Breakfast was typical Hampton fare, but the breakfast room is much too small for the size of this hotel. We brought our food back to the room. I will not be staying here again. In addition to the above concerns, the hotel seems dated and is pricey for a Hampton.
The setting is serene and clean but not “sterile”. Staff is accommodating and friendly. Other visitors were quite interesting…perhaps because of its unique historical element, seclusion of its creek views, waterfalls and birds. We saw a heron, geese, ducks and ducklings, in plain view. Pet friendly, we also met bikers touring the rail trail, retirees visiting friends, curious tourists who were surprised by the area. Spacious rooms, too!
Absolutely fantastic stay! This hotel is perfect for our needs. Everything about the room was great. The couch is longer than other hotels and the room is a good size with generous drawer space. The rain shower is amazing with great water pressure and the towels are thick and comfy. The breakfast is very good with great options. When we checked in it was before 3 pm and was told there is an early check in fee. Tianna was kind enough to waive the fee and upgraded us to a high floor room because we had to wait awhile in line. When we checked out I saw Tianna and told her how much I enjoyed my stay and wanted to know if there was any discounts for future stays. She went above and beyond to help me and answer my questions. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. I will be staying there again and again.
We traveled to Poughkeepsie to see a show at the Rhinebeck Center for Performing Arts. After checking a number of hotels, I chose the Holiday Inn Express as the location was good, price was right, and reader ratings were fine. I'm glad we chose the Holiday Inn Express. The room was well-appointed, staff was friendly, and breakfast offerings were fresh and plentiful, although I would have liked some non-sweetened cold cereal offerings. The only downside was that housekeeping made up our bathroom on the second morning, but not the bedroom. We advised the front desk, which made amends. We recommend it.
