Cheap Hotels in Koh Phangan District

"Best hotel I've ever stayed at in my life! Don't hesitate for a second! How can I put it, everything is perfect! I've stayed there twice: the first time in a triple room, which was superb, and the second time in an economy room (the cheapest). The bed wasn't super comfortable, but I just opened the door and I was at the pool. It's not a huge hotel, so it's never overbooked! But there are enough people to create a nice atmosphere. The restaurant is really, really good; I highly recommend the 'pad kra pao' with pork! The staff are incredibly kind! You can even rent scooters at the front desk, and the owner provides information on absolutely all possible activities to do on the island. He'll book everything for you, whether it's taxis, activities, ferries, festivals, Muay Thai fights, and most importantly, he doesn't rip you off at all on prices. We checked online every time, and there were zero scams. They are truly darlings! What more can I say about the pool? It's magnificent, with breathtaking sunset views, and with the beach right in front, you can borrow paddles and kayaks for free. The ONLY drawback of this hotel is that it's not in the city center, but there's not really much point in going to the city center anyway. Just go to the festivals for fun and stay at the hotel the rest of the time. And if you do want to go to the city center or visit other beaches, you can rent scooters."

"Stayed in a hillside suite, lovely room and fantastic views. Staff were very friendly always helping with bags and there was a buggy to take up to our room. I rented a bike so got to hotel easy if not it is a little walk to the main area. There is a free shuttle to Sairee beach which is great and also a free shuttle to pier to get a ferry when leaving. The only negative is the pool was quite small and for the price and also would like a gym on site but of course booked knowing there wasn’t a gym so can’t be negative on that! Overall a great stay and would recommend. Thanks"

"I had a pretty good stay at the pier in one of the bungalows. My only complaint is that my bungalow was full of cracks that allowed insects to enter and I ended up with several bug bites all over my feet and legs. I was also able to watch ants consistently come in and out of the cracks where the wall meets the floor. Other than the bugs I had a good stay."

"The resort is easy to get to, though the last 100 meters are quite steep. Our room was in a bungalow accessible via several steep stairs. The refreshing pool with a view is excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is simple and limited. Just a 3-minute walk away is the 360 bar, offering great views and good food. During our stay, they were still busy with resort maintenance."

"The hotel is good, and the breakfast is good too. However, it doesn't offer a view and is located in the middle of the party scene, with music playing late into the night. It's perfect for a one-night stay to explore the island's center. The beach is lovely in the morning when it's empty, but gets crowded in the evening."

"Bans is a well established resort right in the heart of the main town/strip. Located over two sites it has several polls and offers a wide range of rooms/prices. We were located up the hill so was really nice and quiet, but quick a hike to the rooms. Rooms were spacious and well equipped but were getting a bit tired. Air Con wasn’t working well and rooms were very warm. I understand from others around the pool, with was common. The grounds were groomed immaculately and the service was excellent. During the day the Fishbowl offers some tasty and relatively cheap food, overlooking the beach !! This is a dive resort and almost resembled a factory for diving. Bit too over commercial for my liking, so we booked diving through a quieter dive school. All in all, a lovely resort, wonderful staff and service in some stunning grounds. Would recommend if you are wanting a little luxury."

"Is a small resort hide just offside of the road. To enter wirh your car need careful driving as it is narrow and rough. Only few parking lot and should be enough afterall not too many drive a car in the island. Check in/out is easy. Speak good enough. Room at first glance is lovely but the first night is a nightmare since a lot of mosquitoes inbthe room and I need to but a mosquito coil to kill them and also the smoke killed us too. Aftet that, it is fine and evan though sometimes we may be bitten agian by the strong mosquitoes. No breakfast but you can use their utensils such as kettle, hot plate, microwave to cook. 30Thb to wash and a drying rack is located at the back of the room with sufficient hanger to hang and dry your clothes. A small swimming pool but I would dare to try. Walking distance to the night market/food stall."

"Extremely clean, with a welcoming and friendly staff. The room had everything we needed, and the linens were spotless. The quiet atmosphere and proximity to the sea were a real plus. There are also affordable cafes and shops conveniently located nearby."

"The resort is outdated. The room was clean and spacious, but it wasn’t designed in a way that makes constructive use of the space. There’s very little room to put your luggage, and the lighting was poor. The air conditioning blows directly onto the head of the bed. The beachfront is beautiful, but the bar leaves much to be desired. As for the resort’s policies and staff, I have the following comments: they have fines for almost everything. They provide beach towels at the reception, but you’re only allowed to use them on their beach and must return them “immediately” after you’re done. If you don’t comply—fine! The safe wasn’t working. The room was full of mosquitoes when we arrived. And they would “forget” to give us the two basic bottles of water, even though they had stated we would receive them. Water is very cheap—it’s not about the price, but about the services that are supposed to be provided."
