Cheap Hotels in Chiayi County

"Going to Alishan -> Where's the Alishan Hotel? -> Why is the hotel so cheap today? Following this stream of consciousness, I planned my trip around that one strangely cheap day for a hotel, which ended up being a trip to Taichung. There were many reviews, but the location is great, and the view is absolutely fantastic. They even posted the sunrise train schedule for Chaoping Station and the sunrise time in the hotel lobby. There's also a round-trip shuttle to the Alishan Information Center. The hotel room was clean, and they informed me that hot water would be available until midnight, but it was still working fine in the morning. The air conditioner is a combined heating and cooling unit. If you switch the mode correctly, you'll see a 'heat' indicator. It was a bit chilly that day, but I slept warmly. The hotel room is quite spacious, and the bedding is excellent. When booking through Trip.com, it states that you need to call to confirm your reservation two days before your stay. I recommend trying to send an email first. It was a difficult time for both the staff member and me... ㅠㅠ Sending an email resolved it very simply. And for some reason, Trip.com also called me separately regarding the reservation. I'm still not sure if they confirmed the reservation on Trip.com's end and notified me, or if they did it because my initial attempt to use Trip.com's internet call failed. The check-in process was assisted by a male staff member who was very friendly. Thank you! The hotel has a restaurant, but it's entirely reservation-based. I ate dinner outside, so I reserved for breakfast. It was served neatly and simply. In the morning, the door to the stairs is blocked, so you have to use the elevator."

"Highly recommended if you are looking for a chill and comfortable stay. The environment was great, quiet, and relaxing, while the owner was very friendly and helpful. The owner requested an additional TWD200 for my 5-year-old boy and kindly upgraded our room from 3 double beds to 4 double beds. The breakfast was comforting and tasty. They also provided stationery and coloring materials for kids to draw and paint, which was perfect for keeping my little one entertained. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. The owner also kindly explained the route to Alishan and even brought us to watch the sunrise, which made the experience even more memorable."

"This is one of the few newly renovated, clean, and comfortable accommodations within the Alishan area. The location is unbeatable, the electric blankets are a thoughtful touch, and the service is friendly. They even offer a shuttle to the bus station. The poor soundproofing and the walk to breakfast are definite drawbacks, but for the convenience of watching the sunrise within the park, it's still highly recommended!"

"Are all hotel rooms in Alishan small? This 10-something square meter room definitely isn't worth the price. There's no heating or air conditioning in the room. I saw vents and a central control system, but they weren't on? This wasn't mentioned when booking. After I booked, I received an email saying they don't have AC. It got a bit cold in the middle of the night, and they wanted an extra 200 for an additional blanket after I checked in. Is it normal to charge extra for basic comfort like staying warm? And a major issue: the hotel doesn't have an elevator. I saw a guest staying on the fifth floor struggling terribly with their luggage."

"After reading other reviews, I was prepared for the worst, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. The pros are its excellent location, just a 5-7 minute walk to Alishan Railway Station. There's parking right in front, which is great for those driving. The breakfast restaurant they partner with is also really good! 👍👍👍 The downside is the poor soundproofing; you occasionally hear footsteps or people talking. However, since I was so tired, I fell asleep quickly, so it didn't bother me much. 🤣🤣🤣"

"When i reserved the hotel, i have no idea how to get to the hotel, and didn’t receive any reply from the hotel. Fortunately, it isn’t that difficult to locate the shuttle bus pick up details from the hotel website. This hotel is located inside the Alishan National Park, its shuttle bus can be boarding at the Alishan transit area (just at the Alishan National Park entrance, and where the public bus 7322,7239 are alighting or picking passengers). Otherwise, walk in after the park ticket purchase. Shuttle bus has a stop at the Information Centre, inside the Alishan National Park. Room was given an upgrade and has two king size beds (each is made up of two individual bed joining, not so idea though). 2 wash basin, no fighting over. Room deco is old design but overall is comfortable. I also wanted to compliment two staff a the restaurant where buffet breakfast and dinner are provided- mr Jacky and mdm Jhang. Both provided great insights on the routes to xianglin shenmu and that helped us for not missing out; highlighted to us on the special fruits of taiwan, and that made foreigners. They both made our first trip to Alishan a pleasant and our stay a pleasure."

"From the moment we checked in, we felt such warm and friendly hospitality ☺️. The room view was absolutely beautiful~ We especially loved the room's balcony, where we could listen to the birds, gaze at the lush tea plantations, and enjoy some wine with friends while waiting for dusk to arrive – it was incredibly relaxing ❤️❤️❤️. The room was very clean, and the bed was extra large and super comfortable~ Especially the breakfast included with the stay; it was a very traditional ********* congee that made us exclaim how much we missed it! It tasted just like Grandma's cooking from childhood~ Everything was so satisfying. Thank you to everyone at 'Palms Clap' and the staff ❤️❤️❤️ We will definitely be back!"

"The hotel's hygiene was pretty good; I didn't notice any dirty spots, and the duvet in the room was comfortable and warm. However, the soundproofing in the room was really bad. I could hear everything from the toilet flushing next door to people showering and even sneezing 😂. The hotel's location is a bit out of the way. It's situated lower down among a cluster of hotels and is the furthest from Alishan Station. Getting there involves walking down stairs or a slope, which means every time you go from the hotel to the station or out for a meal, you have to walk uphill, which is quite tiring 😂. Also, there's no elevator, and even though it's only three stories high, those with large luggage should be aware."

"Our stay in the family room at Fenqihu Hotel truly exceeded expectations! The room was much more spacious than I imagined; we could spread out our luggage with plenty of room to spare, which is a huge plus for families traveling together. The beds were incredibly comfortable – I fell asleep instantly, getting that much-needed relaxation during a trip 😌. What I loved most was how clean the entire place was. There was no dampness or stuffy smell, which is quite rare and impressive for a mountain area. It was also very quiet at night, ensuring a perfect night's sleep. Waking up to a full mountain view outside the window, with super fresh air, felt like an instant recharge 🌄. The staff were also very friendly and approachable, patiently helping us with any questions we had. Plus, the location is incredibly convenient; it's just a few minutes' walk to the old street, making it super easy to enjoy local food and take photos. Overall, this hotel is highly recommended for travelers looking to relax and conveniently explore Fenqihu. It's absolutely perfect for families, and I would definitely love to stay here again!"

"It's very close to Budai Fishing Port, the nights are quiet, the rooms are clean, and there's a restaurant serving grilled fresh oysters and stir-fries within a three-minute walk. I would definitely come back again if I have the chance."
