Kaktus Hotel Kaktus Playa - Adults Recommended
"A short stay for of 2 days was booked with Triip.com for one adult and 2 children under 10, to join us who were booked in a day earlier for three days. Our three day booking was direct with the hotel, half board. The hotel is marked 'adults recommended' and they sure discourage children, by seeking to charge per occupancy rather than simply on a cost per room. The Trip site quite fairly offered the room at the rate for two adults, with children under 12 free, so this is what was paid. Half board was added but at the rate for two adults, which would be greater than the actual hotel rate for one adult and two children, but I was happy to have reserved restaurant secured. Things got messy at check in, the hotel insisting that the room was occupied by three 'persons' as they put it and should therefore be 50% extra, though the room was the same type as the twin we had for two adults. The Hotel also insisted that only breakfast was provided, and tried to argue that the B2B rate from the third party (Trip) was insufficient. I politely pointed out that the discounts provided to third party agents was no concern of the customer, and referred to my booking voucher which clearly stated I had booked a twin room, into which was going 1 adult, two very small children, and that breakfast and dinner was paid for, with the rate for 1 adult being greater than twice the local charge for a child. They were impossible to deal with, and I left the reception angry and upset. I contacted the Trip representative and by that evening it was sorted. Full marks to Trip, zero to the hotel. As for our stay, the hotel is excellent, but with room to improve. Dinner in the Buffet only commences at 8.00, resulting in quite the bunfight if the restaurant is busy. It was on that Thursday, a national holiday, and it was impossible to order wine and beverages after we seated, with a single service person taking orders. We ate our food dry, and finally placed an order for wine and water while eating dessert, some 40 minutes after seating. The same bottleneck occurred the next morning at breakfast, with the four snail paced Nespresso machines totally incapable of dealing with the coffee demands. Worse, all 4 machines overheated and went into 'service mode'. Worse again, these obviously unsuitable barista machines were the only source of hot water for Tea or infusions, but with no seperate hot water dispenser faucet. You had to stand for almost 2 minutes while the machine slowly dispensed through the coffee outlet, a single mug of hot water, to the frustration of the queue behind. This needs sorting, it took ages to get a breakfast beverage every morning, and on the second day I had to return 4 floors to my room and fill my cup from the in room Nespresso maker. I'd advise to bring a travel kettle with you. Otherwise, a fine hotel, but the restaurant problems and discriminatory pricing for children are an issue, so not a hotel for children."

"It is a very bad hotel, false and deceptive pictures, a very small room, not more than 10 meters approximately, the room is difficult to move in, the wardrobe has four iron columns, it is disgusting, the style of the person who spoke on the phone with C-Trip was arrogant, it is really a black night in the hotel, the noise is like a market, the loud noises do not let you sleep until late at night, a very small bed makes noises with every movement, the air conditioner makes noises without cooling, it is really the worst hotel I have stayed in so far"

"Excellent beachfront location Nice hotel restaurant, but they served me oily patatas bravas. I mentioned it to the waiter, and they tried to bring me other options, but it seemed like the same dish with even more oil. I didn't eat them, but they charged me anyway. I think the nice touch would have been an invitation not to pay, since I returned the dish with just two worn-out potatoes. But the location was excellent."

"Excellent service Highly recommended I’m going back there again for sure"

"The location is great for Calella town. The hotel public areas are much nicer than the rooms which are shabby, with small balconies and mouldy bathrooms. Beds are comfy though and great housekeeping service. Staff are good and the food is excellent. The major disappointment for us was the rooftop area with jacuzzi was a key reason for us choosing this hotel as we knew the pool would be too cold in April and we were travelling with our two adult daughters. A pic of the jacuzzi was used on our booking page and every website I looked at mentioned it. Turns out it's closed until Summer!"

"Parking at the hotel is charged, but it's free if you park two blocks away. We booked a triple room with three single beds for a toddler and an infant. The booking page stated that a crib would be provided free of charge, but the female manager insisted we pay an extra 19 euros to check in. This was our second night, because on the first day they said the booking stated a triple room with two adults, which didn't match the number of people. On the second day, the number of people matched, but we still had to pay extra. The restaurant had a fairly wide variety of food, but dinner didn't include any water, which had to be purchased, and the food was extremely salty. They only cleaned the bathroom, and one of my eyebrow tweezers was missing. What if it was a valuable item? The shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom were sold in bulk, which felt unhygienic. Disposable toiletries were only provided the first time; they refused to provide them afterward. The toilet paper was of poor quality, and there was no water provided in the room."
Hotel Bon Repos
"Clean hotel perfect holiday so much to do around the area and the beach is just breath taking, entertainment in the evening and the pool area is a great place to chill to! The food isn’t to my liking but they have a burger king and McDonald’s near by I’d definitely go back. "
Hotel Oasis Park Splash
"We booked one week at this hotel. Do not go all-inclusive!!! The food is so poor and badly undercooked, the cocktails are average, the snacks are basic and everyday is the same thing to eat. We had to eat out after day 3. Our room view was of the bins and car park, and because of the bins our room had the worst smell it made me physically urge when I first entered everyday, and rooms are so small for 4 ppl only one person at a time can manoeuvre around, the other 3 have to stay sat on the bed. The evening entertainment is so disappointing, the only thing that was good was the weather and the day trip we booked to Marineland water park. We were told we could do late checkout and could only do so on the morning of checking out, but when I tried I was told no and our flight home wasn’t until 22.45 PM, we had to be out of the room by 10.30 AM. I could cry as I spent a lot of money on this holiday. But we live and learn."

Hotel Mar I Sol
"Do not stay here. This was the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. I dont mind budget but this was lower than thst. Stains on the bedding. Cigarette burns on the toilet seat that must have been from the 80’s. No bar/food as it was permanently shut, therefore couldn't even get water! and half the hotel was closed. Rooms never cleaned ,no room in the lift. just not nice"
Hotel Haromar
"Everything was spectacular, very good people and above all the facilities."
Hotel Espanya by Alegria
"Do not be put off by poor reviews. This hotel is in a great location, right opposite to a fantastic beach, 8 minute walk to the railway station, and a few minutes from the main shopping area. There is a really good local supermarket (Consum) a few minutes away, used by locals and very reasonable. The hotel is small and not surrounded by the larger hotels. Our room was overlooking the courtyard and the balcony enjoyed the sun all afternoon and evening. The rooms are very simple yet clean. Adequate for sleeping and a well equipped bathroom. The staff were very good, they immediately sorted our air conditioner as it was not working on arrival. The price paid for August was unbelievably cheap. Hotel had a range of guests of all ages and from various locations. Not many English guests which made us feel like we were actually abroad. The lobby and restaurant area are kept to a high standard. The food at breakfast and dinner was really quite impressive. Fish and seafood on most nights, cooked freshly and plentiful. Food is constantly replenished. Breakfast catered for every need. We travel regularly and must admit that the standard of food is in our top 5. Take the train to Girona and Barcelona, great service and only £10 each."

"Great location, lovely personal, clean, great food"
Aparthotel Safari
"Just returned from a 4day stay at this apart hotel didn’t really know what to expect as this is only rated as a 2star. I can say that we we’re pleasantly surprised at how clean the whole hotel was 😁 room was spotless and catered for all our needs 👍 Staff were lovely especially in the restaurant attached to the hotel( which you get 10% off food and drink) The pool was lovely for a cool dip and mostly had this to ourselves(sun-beds were hard to lie on so we just bought a blowup lilo which did the trick) beach 5 minute walk away sun-bed and parasol sunshade 8Euros per person for the whole day at The Blue Bar Calella its self is still very Spanish which was lovely to see and the old town with the church and the town square(5/7 minutes walk) was a great place to sit and people watch with a coffee. We will definitely worth a visit for a short break."
Hotel Internacional
"Stopped for one night, the hotel was very enjoyable, the room was clean, new repair, comfortable mattress and pillows. The hotel is on the first coastline. Near the railway, but it never prevented sleep. There is an underground parking, located in a nearby hotel, cost 15€ per day. Excellent, diverse breakfast (swedish table). Staff pleasant, responsive."
Terramar Hotel
"Couldn't find anything to say thats positive the pictures of this hotel as best as I can describe is feeling although ive been catfished cant go out till 10 am no cuttlery or very limited 1 working toilet for over 100 guests 20 plus sunbeds for over 100 guests all in all horrific shouldn't even be down as an option to stay seen better hostels!! Staff ridiculously rude all need retraining little bald guy behind bar was nice thats it i mean how can u run out of spirits on 2 separate occasions on a 3day stay at an all inclusive really is beyond!!!"
Aparthotel Miami Park
"First time in Calella, great. Apparently, all its amenities are top-notch. Very pleasant staff."
Checkin Catalonia
"Miserable staff. Cold food. No entertainment. Had money stolen from room, manager wasn’t interested. Never even said thank you or goodbye when we left. Take towels as they guard theirs with their life. Not enough glasses you have to take glasses back to bar. Pool on top floor so if you want a drink you have to go down 9 floors to get a drink. They did have vending machine top floor but had to pay but we were all inclusive. Felt they didn’t want to give you anything or make your stay pleasant. All inclusive drinks stop at 10pm. Made to wait nearly two hours on arrival for our room and not even offered a drink as they said we had to wait for wrist bands when they let us in our room. Two small pools one in shade all day. Hotel was clean that was the only good thing. "
Checkin Garbí
"I highly recommend this hotel. I stayed in room 709. From check in to check was absolutely fantastic. Reception staff lovely , restaurant staff lovely , fantastic room with balcony and sea view. Fantastic price. Food great with plenty of variety. Thank you for a lovely stay. I will be back soon."
