"Excellent shukubo, real accommodation for pillies. Traditional Japanese style, comfortable accommodation, polite pleasant staff. Excellent Sento. Delicious vegetarian caiseki. In the yard a stylish garden and a pond with carp. In the morning, guests are invited to the Buddhist traditional procedures. Very recommended!"

"The temple is really beautiful with stunning paintings in the dining room. There is a morning worship service you can join in which starts at 6am, but you can join any time as well as leave the service. Food is really delicious, I didn’t expect much from vegetarian dishes, but they were great. The amount of food is pretty decent, I didn’t feel hungry by the morning even tho I had dinner at 5pm. I traveled alone but I believe this room is specious enough for a couple. The convent location of the temple allows to walk to the main tramples and tourist office (where I got the night tour to the cemetery booked) as well as to the Eko-in temple from where that tour sets off."

Great
GGuest UserThe room was very spacious and traditional. The bathroom had a japanese bath which we appreciated very much. The monks were very welcoming and nice, they explained everything.
We also attended the morning prayer at 7 am. Overall it was a great experience.
The dinner and breakfast were delicious.
GGuluuuVery good experience, there is a private hot spring available in the room, no need to go to the big bath
Breakfast and dinner are arranged very well, and the staff is very polite 👍🏻 But the location is relatively remote and it will be more convenient to drive by car.
SskyluxThe location is very good, clean and tidy, the morning class is relatively simple, and there are no activities such as meditation and copying scriptures. On the whole, it is completely fine to be used as a hotel pure accommodation, but there is not much atmosphere of the temple.
FFlorianViewed as a hotel, the stay can be described as interesting and pleasant. However, anyone expecting a deeper insight into esoteric or Shingon Buddhism will be disappointed. Of course the evening/morning rituals and the vegan food are interesting and even spectacular, but hardly anything is explained and there is no opportunity for conversation or other contact with the monks. Since the journey to/from Osaka takes at least 3.5 hours, you should definitely plan on spending 2 nights in Koyasan so that you can see the sights without rushing. My impression was that the stay primarily serves to finance the temples, and not to introduce visitors to the teachings of Shingon Buddhism or the monks' way of life. I wouldn't travel to such a remote area again for this little insight.
YYedongyunThe accommodation and the temple are not in the same building and are 20 meters apart. The temple is very quiet, beautiful and simple. The accommodation is completely Japanese-style and has complete facilities. The morning classes starting at 6:30 in the morning are full of ritual and parking is convenient.
