First, the good things: the check-in service here was excellent. Someone helped us with an umbrella and carried our luggage. The front desk staff were very friendly, and anything we needed late at night was brought to us promptly by a robot – it was great!

However, there were a few major issues: 1. The pillows were very uncomfortable. Their buckwheat pillow was just a thin layer of stuffing, so I ended up having a pillow delivered to the hotel just to get some sleep. 2. It was incredibly, incredibly, incredibly noisy! I was woken up at 8:30 AM by the sound of children outside the door. You could even hear people coughing in the hallway from inside the room, which is just ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone who needs to sleep in.

This is the most thoughtfully designed hotel I've ever stayed in. We traveled with our child, and the twin beds could be pushed together. What was truly ingenious was that the power outlets and light switches were on the outer side of the bed. The wall where the beds were pushed together had nothing, preventing our child from accidentally hitting anything while sleeping. They also had excellent lighting options, including a mode to turn off only the overhead spotlights and another for just the nightlight. The vanity was large, providing plenty of space for our child's belongings. The toilet's sliding door was very quiet. Overall, the room was peaceful, and the air conditioning was also silent. The service was exceptional; they even called me to return an item I left in the room. The hotel was very clean, and breakfast was abundant. It's also very close to Metro Line 10. This is truly a hidden gem of a hotel that I will definitely visit again!

What we liked:
The room was very clean and spacious. There was ample space for us to open 2 large suitcases and 2 cabin-sized suitcases comfortably. The shower had good water pressure, and we really liked the woody scent of the shower gel, shampoo and body wash. The hotel lobby is also aesthetically designed and feels very welcoming.

However, I would not stay at this hotel again because of our experience with the handling of guest packages and luggage.

We had 17 online purchase packages delivered to the hotel. When we went to reception to collect them, several counter staff initially told us to find the packages ourselves in the storage room. There appeared to be no verification process when guests collected their packages, and with so many packages belonging to different customers, we were completely clueless where to start looking.

Fortunately, we approached three different male counter staff members, who were more helpful and searched for the packages for us. However, even after each search, some packages were still missing. We had to return to reception and have the staff search again three separate times before we finally managed to locate all 17 packages.

Had we not approached different staff members and repeatedly insisted on having the packages searched for, I am not sure whether we would have received all of them.

We have stayed in many hotels and homestays in different parts of China, including 3-star hotels, and this is the first time we have experienced such difficulty collecting our deliveries. Other properties have been able to receive and consolidate our packages and hand them over to us without putting the responsibility on guests to search through a storage room themselves.

There was also another incident that was particularly concerning. I purchased a pair of sunglasses from a shop in Shanghai, and the shop delivered them in a green package clearly labelled with my name, room number and delivery details. The first staff member told me that the package was not there. After approaching a second staff member, the sunglasses were eventually found at reception — but they were no longer in the original green packaging and just the glasses in the eyewear box.

This raised a serious concern for me: Why was the original packaging opened or removed? A guest’s delivery should not be opened or have its packaging removed without explanation or authorisation.

Finally, we also sent our luggage to the hotel from another region in China. When we went to collect it, we simply told the storage staff that the luggage was ours, and without asking for any verification or checking our details, he immediately retrieved the package, opened it for us and handed the luggage over. This is another serious security concern. There should surely be some form of verification before luggage is released to a guest, especially when the hotel is holding belongings belonging to multiple guests.

Overall, the hotel itself is clean, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, and we were happy with the room. However, the way our packages and luggage were handled during our stay left us very uncomfortable.

I hope the management will seriously review the hotel’s procedures for receiving, storing and releasing guest packages and luggage, including proper verification and security measures. These are basic matters involving guests’ belongings, privacy and security.

For us, the otherwise pleasant stay was unfortunately overshadowed by these experiences, and we would not choose to stay here again.

The hotel is conveniently located right by Zhouqiao Old Street, very easy to find. Across the road are Huilongtan Park and Jiading Confucius Temple, and it's just a few minutes' walk to Jiading Museum and Qiuxia Garden. We had breakfast and then spent the morning exploring the free attractions nearby – the location is truly excellent.

Upon check-in, we received a complimentary room upgrade. The room was new and spacious, and the bathroom was particularly roomy. It would have been perfect if there was a bathtub by the window! When we checked out, we were even given coffee as a farewell gift. A big thank you to the handsome Xiao Shao!

The hotel has a courtyard and a long corridor, which I believe are preserved from the original old building. There's also a citron tree in the courtyard with many fruits. In the morning, I saw a pile of what looked like fallen fruits in the restaurant.

Our stay at Joyze Hotel this time was overflowing with ambiance! A tea set with a warm welcoming tea was already prepared—a smooth, mellow Lapsang Souchong that tasted rich and soothing. They also light traditional incense on demand, which had an elegant and calming fragrance that happened to be just my favorite scent. Sitting quietly and sipping tea was so therapeutic. The hotel's location is unbeatable, right outside Taikoo Li. Since our main goal in Chengdu was to eat our way through the city, shopping and dining out was super convenient. The overall environment was quiet and comfortable, with every detail full of Eastern texture. The experience was fantastic, super relaxing and cozy. I will definitely choose to stay here again next time I visit Chengdu.

My stay at the Chengdu Hi-tech Xiyue Hotel during the May Day holiday was absolutely perfect. The hotel is in a great location, making it super convenient for getting around, and the environment is clean and quiet. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and efficient, handling check-in and check-out quickly. The room was tidy and bright, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the toiletries were well-stocked. There was plenty of hot water with good water pressure too. Housekeeping was meticulous and thorough, and the cleaning staff were very considerate. The breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options, and overall, it was excellent value for money. The service was attentive and thoughtful, making my stay comfortable and hassle-free. I was very satisfied with my holiday stay and would definitely recommend this hotel. I'll choose it again next time.

The service was excellent. When I requested a memory foam pillow in the middle of the night, they were very quick. The room was newly renovated, and I slept really well. The air conditioning was very powerful.

Hygienics: Visibly clean.

Service: Fantastic.

Facilities: Newly renovated in a Song Dynasty style, very elegant, simple, and refined.

The breakfast congee was good for the stomach. It was very quiet during the weekdays, and while the variety wasn't huge, the food was decent. The honey was delicious and you could even take some with you. It's great to have on hand when traveling, especially if you have a sore throat – a cup can help with dryness and clear your lungs.
