"I recently stayed at the Hôtel de Bourbon (the Mercure one) in Bourges, and honestly, it felt like stepping into a little piece of history while still having all the modern comforts you could want. My room was a classic double, spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The bed was excellent—properly supportive after a day of wandering around—and the bathroom had a great walk-in shower with good water pressure. Everything felt freshly renovated (they did a big update around 2018), with a nice blend of modern touches and the old abbey character. Some rooms overlook the park, which must be lovely in summer."

Being sensitive to noise, they recommended the room on the ground floor with its pretty terrace, and the night was very relaxing. The breakfast is perfect given its very reasonable price (15€) and composed of local products and homemade cakes. You just need to know that the reception is closed between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. (this allows them to take care of the repair work), but open during the night."

"I just left this hotel and I absolutely have to share my experience: I woke up to a spider crawling on my shoulder, turned on the light and found 10 more ready to descend on the bed. Room on the top floor with exposed beams that no one has cleaned in years. I had a nightmare night. Room on the second floor with no elevator so if you have joint problems, forget it, very steep stairs. Basic breakfast with 4 items thrown together. I understand why it's a 2-star... forget it!"
