"This hotel has so much potential and it is in a beautiful location, but is sadly lacking in lots of basics hence our 3 star review. The price of everything is ridiculously expensive which is probably because there is little by way of alternatives once you are on the island. The food, whilst priced at Michelin star prices, is sadly lacking in quality based on the breakfast experience and our one lunch and dinner experience at the hotel. The service was not great at dinner with more waiting staff on shift than I could count, and yet we waited 1 hour ten minutes for our starter. It is perhaps explained by the occurrence a “chefs special dinner” An experience costing some 200 euros per head (without drinks) which obviously took priority over other diners who hadn’t paid 400 euros per couple for the dinner experience. The starter was good when it came and the pasta Vongole was plentiful but dry. We had no communication from the hotel and I had to call them to enquire about the ferry transfer and baggage collection from port. Once I had checked in the WhatsApp’s from the hotel started. I compare this to the other hotels we are staying at which start communicating a week before arrival. The bedrooms are ok and as others state they are tired and tired in need of updating to justify the price. It is very clean though and the bathrooms are good having been renovated recently."

"This hotel is amazingly beautiful, perched on a hill overlooking the citadel of Bonifacio. The staff if friendly and welcoming, looking after our every need. I did not catch the name of the lady who originally greeted us and showed us around, but she made us feel special. I would like to recognize and thank Camille, Alexis, Leo, Charles, Annabelle, and Louis who went out of their way to be of service. I hope I didn’t leave anyone out. The property, the pool, the restaurant, and our room were all above our expectations. We have already recommended Version Maquis to many of our family and friends."

"We booked a week long stay in one of their 2 bed villas, l will start by saying that the view is gorgeous. BUT that's where the good things end. The bedroom in the villa smells strongly of mold , the pictures speak for themselves(the mold on the photos are mostly underneath the wadrobe in the bedroom, but there are also molds in the bathroom, along the tiles on the floor, we also have a video if anyone is interested). After talking to management they sprayed bleach (or some kind of strong chemical) in the bedroom to get rid of the mold, but the room smells still of mold and even strongly of bleach (sorry but we will not sleep in a bedroom with mold and bleach in a 4 star hotel), as we tried to talk to the management about this issue, as we had to sleep in the smaller bedroom in the villa with 2 single short uncomfortable beds put together , they got very aggressive, the guy at the reception even laid hands on my partner and tried to drag him out of reception. It's shocking how they treat their guests and certainly not the behaviour one would expect from a 4 star hotel."

"What a place to stay, we had room 98 which was a lovely lodge with an outside patio and secret garden in the bamboo, on its own in a quiet location. The hotel were amazing as they let us check in early, showed us all around the grounds, restaurant and pool areas. We were able to use the hotels courtesy mini bus to go the centre of Bonifacio and return on many occasions. Our room had one of the most comfortable beds ever and was kept very clean and tidy each day. They offer a selection of pillows too! Do go to the restaurant and spoil yourselves, the food is delicious and worth every penny. Staff are all very helpful even though we couldn’t speak French and took their time trying to understand our requests. Pool was lovely and warm and area very clean and tidy."
