"Casa de Santa Comba is absolutely lush. The staff are very relaxed and flexible, having to arrive late was no problem, and they were very accommodating of us at breakfast as were vegetarian and there aren’t many vegetarians in Portugal! They were also very accommodating when we requested a fridge for our wine. The building and surrounding estate is beautiful, with lots of animals around – geese, horses, dogs, swallows, fish in the ponds – and lots of lemon trees bursting with fruit and beautiful flower bushes everywhere. A dreamy place, would love to stay here again. Will miss the bright morning song of the canary in their office which you can hear from the breakfast room!"

"We only stayed here for 2 nights as part of a walking tour. The house is beautiful and very thoughtfully restored. It is situated high up on the hill so affords lovely views across the valley and the viaduct. The food, both breakfast and dinner on both days was excellent and so nicely presented. We were given a packed lunch before departing, which was packaged in a lovely cloth drawstring bag. As this was early in the season, the pool was not ready. There was very little outdoor seating, but I’m sure there will be more for the summer season."

"Nice accommodation spread out in converted farm buildings. Fantastic gardens with fruit trees and vines. Very pleasant welcome. Tips: ask for the remote control for the aircon. They are not routinely given out. I would hesitate to recommend the food offering at dinner. Great presentation, but precooked and microwaved. We were left hungry. Breakfast was also a little spartan. We had a 'second breakfast' enroute. Certainly wouldn't put anyone off staying here, just be aware of the limitations of the kitchen."
