SShikano3If you have something to do at UC Berkeley, this hotel is the best place to stay with following reasons.
(1) Best Location - The nearest to the UC Berkeley, (2) Staff there is super nice and friendly. It made my stay so comfortable.
In a meanwhile, you need to bear in mind that (1) Facility is old, (2) you need to bear additional cost, such as Overnight Self Parking 37.00, and (2) Property Amenity Fee 25.00, (3) Property Amenity Fee City Occupancy Tax 3.00, that are not cheap.
Overall, I'm satisfied with my choice!
GGuest UserI used to stay at this hotel multiple times in the course of visiting family in the area. Parking was free, the hotel was well kept, and the free chocolate chip cookies were delicious.
No more. The hotel installed a gate to the parking area, made no other visible changes, and now charges $40 per car per night. This is not downtown LA, this is a hotel located out in an open area away from crowded areas, with just a couple of adjacent commercial buildings nearby. There seems to be no reason to charge THIS LEVEL of overnight parking except to transfer funds from you to them.
But more than that, the hotel has gotten noticeably shabbier. Dings and scuffs in hotel hallways not repaired, duct tape used as a ”fix” for torn and worn hallway carpeting, and even the cookies aren't as good. I will stay somewhere else next time.
Eeva1024Next to the office where I worked before, I stayed here many times. There is a 24-hour Starbucks in the lobby, which is convenient for breakfast and parking. There are a lot of startup companies next to it, so I stayed here many times. It is very cost-effective.
GGuest UserGreat place for a family getaway. It's a bit of a drive from the airport, but there's a free shuttle-like service that stops right in front of the hotel once you reach the BTS (Skytrain) station. Plus, there are restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance.
AAnonymous UserGreat for the price, great view, a good neighborhood. All except the internet; the internet basically went down during my entire week-long stay, and the hotel did nothing about it: no fixes, no compensation, not even an announcement. The front desk just told me to connect to Wi-Fi, which never works in the first place. In the first few days, I even thought it was my fault. Can't believe that in the 2025 bay area the hotel can't even provide internet access.
GGuest UserThe hotel itself was fine. But I was very disappointed to learn that parking at the hotel was an additional $50/night. Also - when checking in they charge you a mandatory $27 'convenience fee'. This entitles you to a $7 credit at the snack bar - where a bag of M&Ms cost $6. And this is just a regular size bag, not shareable, and a $10 credit at the restaurant if you spend $30. I will not go back because it really felt like I was being nicked and dimed.
GGuest UserThe roadside is quite noisy, the swimming pool is under construction, breakfast offers two or three options, coffee is unlimited, and the hygiene is relatively good. However, there is no kettle or teacup in the room; everything is disposable.
MMatt ConnHad a really solid stay at this Marriott downtown. Three things stood out:
The view from our room was awesome - great skyline views that made the stay feel special. Worth asking for a higher floor.
The room was nice - clean, modern, and spacious. Everything was in good shape and felt updated. Good digs overall.
Breakfast was excellent. Plenty of variety, everything fresh, and they kept it well stocked. Actually worth getting up for.
Staff was helpful and the downtown location worked great for getting around. Would definitely stay here again.
