The rooms at Sansui Hotel are very spacious, and you can see Mount Yotei right from the window! There's a large private onsen tub in the room, so personally, I felt no need to go to a separate public onsen. The in-room hot spring was more than enough! The kitchen was fully equipped with utensils, and there was even a washing machine and a dishwasher! Grace, one of the hotel staff, speaks Chinese and provides excellent service! If you want to go somewhere that's not too far, the hotel will arrange car pick-up and drop-off! It was a perfect holiday!

This is a family trip for two adults and two kids. And we stayed in the hotel for 7 nights, bfast and dinner included. It's apparent in the booking that we will have kids in the stay, and yet either Trip.com/hotel charged us meals for 4 adults for the entire trip. We ended up overpaying A LOT and wasting A LOT of food because the kids couldn't finish the set meal. Yet the hotel refused to adjust / refund. This was a serious mistake made by Trip.com / hotel. The hotel provided shuttle bus to the ski resort. Good that there was early shuttle bus around 815am BUT the return shuttle was way too early (4pm) for any serious skiers. The hotel should offer more options. There was no gym in the hotel and difficult to do some proper full-body exercise. Onsen set up was nice and clean and tidy. The public onsen wasn't used much so it ended up a big private onsen for us. We like the traditional Japanese cusine but very disappointed that the chef provided limited changes on the menu during our 7 nights of stay. We spent roughly same number of nights elsewhere in Niseko and the design of their menu was way better. Staff in general was very helpful and friendly and some of them spoke English and Chinese. The hotel was short of staff IMO. I could see them running around in the hotel. The ski equipment room could be equipped with better facility to dry ski boots and gloves. Shuttle bus was only offered to Niseko but not Kutchan station which was in fact not too far away anyway. The room was clean and well maintained. The location of the hotel was great too. It's 10mins from the Niseko station and 5mins from annupuri ski run.

The public areas are exceptionally well-designed, beautifully blending Park Hyatt's signature luxury with a Japanese onsen resort vibe. The overall atmosphere feels both sophisticated and relaxing. The breakfast and the selection of restaurants are much more extensive than at the neighboring Higashiyama Niseko Village, and the food itself tasted noticeably better. Service is also a major plus here. The welcome fruit wasn't just generic apples, pears, or bananas; they offered a plate of strawberries, which felt very thoughtful. Whether it was the Japanese staff, foreign staff, or the Chinese-speaking employees, everyone was consistently warm and natural. I was particularly impressed by a young woman in the restaurant department, who seemed to be from Henan, China. She was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making conversations very pleasant. Communicating with other foreign staff members in Japanese was also seamless; there was no need to force English, nor did we have to resort to translation apps like we did at Higashiyama Niseko Village. Finally, upon departure, since the hotel doesn't have a shuttle bus and we couldn't immediately find a taxi, the hotel thoughtfully arranged a complimentary business car to take us to the station, which was a huge bonus to the overall experience. The basic room type in the hotel building is a large suite with a double bathroom design, offering a high level of comfort. There are some drawbacks, however. As a hotel opened in 2020, there are already visible signs of wear and tear on some of the leather and fabric in the rooms, so the maintenance isn't perfectly pristine. The views are also significantly less impressive compared to Higashiyama Niseko Village, where you can see Mount Yotei directly from the lobby, rooms, and even the onsen. Additionally, this hotel has more rooms and also accommodates quite a few group tours, so even during the non-snow season, it's quite popular, making it less quiet overall than Higashiyama Niseko Village.

## Location Starting from Hakodate in the morning, we checked into this Hilton in Niseko, using it as a base for a day trip to Shakotan Peninsula and Cape Kamui. The hotel is located in the Hirafu area, making it very convenient to drive to View Plaza, Takahashi Farm, and the Hirafu village gondola area. It's a well-established five-star ski hotel in the core Niseko resort area. ## Staff A high percentage of the staff across various departments are of South Asian descent. They are generally warm and polite, with fluent English, though slightly accented. Slowing down your speech makes for smooth communication. The check-out process is a bit cumbersome, typical of older resort hotels with more procedures. During check-out, staff proactively ask about your onward travel plans and even print out formal accommodation tax receipts in an envelope. ## Dining (Both breakfast and dinner buffets require reservations) The buffet restaurant is enormous, a standard for a five-star hotel, with an extensive variety of dishes. However, both breakfast and dinner have a distinct Southeast Asian flavor that we found rather peculiar and not particularly tasty. It's essential to book your dining slots for both breakfast and dinner in advance, as it can be difficult to get a table if you try to book last minute. We recommend booking as soon as you check in. The restaurant gets very busy, with many Korean tour groups, and the public areas can occasionally be a bit noisy. ## Room Experience We booked two deluxe rooms, one king and one family room. The rooms were exceptionally spacious, a rare find in Japanese hotels, and offered great value for money at just over 1,000 yuan (approximately $150 USD) per night during the summer. • The rooms have been renovated, and the air conditioning is comfortably cool. The oversized panoramic windows offer superb mountain views, directly overlooking the golf course (which becomes the ski slope in winter). • The layout features a separate wet and dry area, with the washbasin located outside the bathroom. However, the toilet area itself is on the smaller side and hasn't been renovated, looking a bit old and cramped. • We requested high-floor, quiet rooms in advance. Our two rooms were located at the near ends of the corridors on either side of the elevator (avoiding corner rooms). The hotel's corridors are curved and extremely long, making daily trips to the restaurant and onsen quite a walk and physically demanding. • Hairdryers are not provided in the rooms; guests must use them in the onsen area. The onsen changing room only has two hairdryer stations, which are underpowered and make it difficult to dry hair, often resulting in queues. • Two bottles of drinking water with good packaging quality are provided daily in the room. ## Public Onsen & Shortcomings The onsen facilities don't quite match a five-star rating. The overall size of the pools is relatively small, and the shower/changing area is cramped. The lockers and storage designs are very basic, a noticeable contrast compared to the several Japanese onsen ryokans we stayed at on this trip. The hotel lobby is grand and spacious with high ceilings, and its red decor gives it an impressive feel. There's a small souvenir shop on-site with reasonable prices, not overly inflated. ## Overall Summary This is a classic, well-run five-star resort hotel with an impressive lobby, huge guest rooms, and excellent views. It offers great value for summer stays and is a popular ski accommodation in winter. Its strengths include warm staff, a convenient location, and spacious, quiet rooms. The drawbacks are the peculiar-tasting food that requires advance reservations, somewhat subpar onsen facilities, the lack of in-room hairdryers requiring queuing in the public area, the long and tiring walks along the corridors, and a slight sense of noise due to tour groups. Overall, the experience doesn't quite measure up to some of the smaller, more niche Japanese ryokans.

From the moment we pulled up to The Green Leaf, we felt incredibly welcome. The level of service here is personal and sincere; I was so impressed that the staff took the time to remember my name. It creates such a 'homey' and inviting atmosphere that is hard to find elsewhere. If you want a stay where you feel like a valued guest rather than just a room number, this is the place to be!

Stayed at the Deluxe Villa in WE Hotel Toya Dusit Collection and it was honestly one of the nicest stays during our Hokkaido trip. The villa was extremely spacious, clean, and beautifully designed with a very modern Japanese style. What surprised us most was how big the villa actually was — it came with 3 bedrooms, 3 toilets, a large living room, dining area, laundry room, and even 2 floors. It truly felt more like staying in a luxury private house rather than a hotel. The atmosphere was very peaceful and relaxing, perfect for a getaway near Lake Toya. We especially loved the warm wood interior, tatami-style seating area, huge windows, and cozy living space. The bedrooms were comfortable and the entire villa was very well maintained.

Location is a little bit away from the ski lifts but they do have a shuttle bus although I wish there were more bus timings. Staff were friendly and helpful although not all speak English. Buffet breakfast was nice. We tried the dinner on two nights and they were quite similar. Dinner was a bit on the expensive side so would not recommend eating there mutiple nights in a row due to the lack of variety. There is a small course section to the dinner and then a buffet but I’d prefer more of a kaiseki style course with quality over quantity. Absolutely loved the live music every night from 7:39-8:30pm. Rooms were clean and comfortable. There is a bus that stops outside the hotel for travellers taking the coach from the airport/sapporo. The local bus to the train station also stops outside. Onsen was a bit too hot for my liking but it was a nice size.

## The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Niseko | Summer Solitude, Mountain Breezes & Rejuvenation My first visit to Niseko instantly charmed me with its summer appeal – uncrowded and picturesque, with refreshing breezes. It's the perfect escape from the summer heat, offering exceptional value for money and making it an ideal choice for a secluded getaway. The hotel boasts a minimalist yet refined decor, perfectly blending the sophistication of a high-end urban hotel with the serene ambiance of the natural mountain surroundings. Attention to detail is impeccable, and the service team is exceptionally thoughtful and meticulous, making guests feel completely at ease. Regarding dining, breakfast offers a delightful combination of à la carte and buffet options, with an extensive and nutritious selection. For dinner, I'd suggest exploring nearby restaurants for better value and variety. Its location is truly a 'hidden gem' – secluded yet convenient. It's just a few minutes' walk to the ski village's commercial area, which even in summer has a pleasant buzz. For those driving, it offers privacy and convenience. Guests without a car can easily connect via the Hilton hotel next to the ski slope, ensuring clear and efficient transportation. Niseko, beautiful year-round, truly transforms into a ski paradise in winter. The hotel's exclusive gondola serves as a 'private access lane,' offering genuine ski-in/ski-out convenience. Paired with a master-designed night illumination show, it adds a romantic touch to the snowy evenings. Compared to other popular ski resorts, this area feels more tranquil and private, making it especially ideal for families or discerning travelers seeking a premium experience. Undoubtedly, the standout features are the exclusive ski-in/ski-out gondola and the resort's appealing atmosphere, perfect for both summer and winter. The off-peak season, priced at nearly half of peak season rates, offers outstanding value. It's highly recommended for guests who value tranquility and appreciate meticulous service – whether it's a summer escape from the heat or a winter ski adventure, guests will find a double delight of comfort and serenity here.

The room was perfectly satisfactory in terms of cleanliness, facilities, and size. The view was also breathtaking, I absolutely loved it. My only minor complaint would be about the short-haired female staff member at the front desk who provided Chinese-language service. Her attitude was very robotic, especially during our New Year check-in. She responded to guests mechanically, completely devoid of any warmth. Speaking the same language, it was quite off-putting to encounter such a cold demeanor. Thankfully, the hotel's other staff members, who spoke different languages, managed to salvage what could have been a poor start. The chef even came out personally to thank guests after the dinner service, and the buffet chef patiently helped us reserve a table for the incredibly popular buffet when we met him. These experiences truly reflect the quality and professionalism of the hotel's management. Additionally, the cleaning staff were very polite and always greeted us. It's just that particular Chinese-speaking female front desk staff, for some unknown reason, always seemed to have a displeased expression while standing at the reception. Sigh. The hotel's shuttle bus service to and from New Chitose and Sapporo City is very convenient, but you need to book it online in advance. There are both free and paid options, depending on your pick-up location, and the earliest departures are quite early. The buffet was very affordable, and the front desk reminded us that Marriott members get a significant discount. Being a ski hotel, facilities like the onsen pool and shops only open after 2 PM.

Booked the lake view room, able to see the fireworks directly from the room. Room is very spacious, 2 futon + 2 western bed provided. You may take this room, if you would to experience the futon, however, are unsure if you can get used to it. Breakfast is had a lot of varieties of food, however, the breakfast ended a little earlier (9am - last entrance). Close at 9.30pm. Dinner - last call at 8pm, start from 6pm - 8pm (set meal). Contain rice/raw salmon,fish/vegetables/etc. Mama didn't really like the dinner as it served quite a lot of raw food. Indoor Onsen/Outdoor Onsen/ Cave Onsen available throughout the night. Great value for money.
