"Institutional hotel, three minutes from the airport but far from the city center, here is the only oasis of relaxation in this wasteland. Slow Wi-Fi but at least it exists, every service including overnight stay is very expensive but trust me at least you are sheltered here from any problem.. Staff like the whole country are definitely not up to par"

"If you're planning a trip to Eritrea or even just to Asmara, I highly recommend booking at the Crystal Hotel. It's clean and offers a good breakfast. But its best advantage is its location: located in the Villini District, just steps from the Hamasien and Ambasoira hotels and Villa Roma, the residence of the Italian ambassador, the Crystal is close to the central Harnet Avenue and the historic center of the Eritrean capital, as well as some delicious places for lunch and dinner: Gibabo, Spaghetti House, and the legendary Bar Vittoria. This is my third time staying there and I've never had any problems. You can also leave your large luggage at the reception desk if you're planning excursions outside Asmara (to Massawa, Keren, etc.). If you stay at the Crystal, you can stroll through Asmara's historic center in the evening without needing a car, allowing you to enjoy this wonderful city in complete tranquility."

"Although it's one of the upper-class hotels in Asmara, don't expect much from it: - Wifi although technically exists, it's basically never available or takes 5 minutes to load a page. - The staff could care less. I asked for a discount and two receptionists promised to call theanager and ask if this was possible. They never called anyone. - The shower has a very weak pressure, and you must call the reception every time you need a shower so they can turn on the pump. - The breakfast was quite okay but could be a bit heavier. - The rooms might get pretty cold during the chilly season. No heaters available."
