Yasuragi ★★
"I stayed here while touring roadside stations. It is an inn located in a day spa. The front desk was not very accommodating, and even though I gave my name, they made a mistake and tried to process it for someone else, and they also just told me to read the inn's guide. I was given a locker key, but I didn't know which of the two baths it was for, so I called, and a different person answered and the service was not good. Also, when I checked in, they said they would call me later because they hadn't decided where to eat, but they never called me. After mealtime, the person in charge of meals came to my room to call me. I was able to use the day spa almost by myself, so there were only a few groups of people, so it was very empty and not busy. Also, although the plan was supposed to include a performance at the Kawaraza Theater, they said that there was no evening performance and that the performance was on now, so I should just watch it, but I checked in at 3 p.m., the performance opened at 12:30, and the customers had come out by 3 p.m. and it was over. Instead, I was given a ticket for a bedrock bath, but neither of us used the bedrock bath, so it was a waste. I think they should have posted the show times on the reservation site. I was looking forward to it, so I was disappointed that I couldn't see it. Also, the hot spring was only an open-air bath. The indoor bath and the bath for guests of the rock bath on the second floor are not hot springs. There were two open-air baths, which were large, and the hot spring was a light brown salty hot spring. What was disappointing about the bath was that you can't use it from 7am the next morning. Breakfast is from 8am, so I couldn't take my time in the morning. The futons were already laid out in the room. The room and the washroom area were all barrier-free and clean. For dinner, we had the top Agano Gozen course (6,600 yen if ordered separately). We had it in a Japanese-style room with only two groups, and everything was laid out on the table, including tempura, except for rice, miso soup, and dessert. The contents were the standard ryokan items, such as sashimi and chawanmushi. The crab half was nicely prepared to be easy to eat. We ate on the tatami mat in a Japanese-style room, so my partner's legs looked sore. We ordered Kirinzan Traditional Dry 21% alcohol (720cc unprocessed) for 1,680 yen. It was delicious. We had breakfast at the restaurant of the day spa from 8:00. The table was set from about 6:30. The only side dishes were salmon, natto, seaweed, and a small bowl with a very light taste. *You can have more rice. The price was high, but there were too few side dishes. Yasuda yogurt drinks were served at the table with the children. It seems that the children's breakfast was exactly the same as the adults'. It seems that many people who stay at this inn eat at the restaurant of the day spa. I think it's better value for money that way. There was no hospitality at all, and it was not a relaxing inn."
Oyado Sakihana ★★★
"The overall staff is very welcoming and the food is very rich, especially the rice. A very recommended hotel. If you go to this hotel by train, you can call the hotel and ask the hotel to wait at Ma Shita or Sakihana Station. Free round-trip transportation is available."
Choseikan ★★★★
"This is my second time staying at the hotel. Every day, the hotel will provide a shuttle service directly to Niigata Station (reservation required). On the way, you will be dropped off to visit a swan lake (very beautiful). After arriving at the hotel, the staff will warmly welcome you and the whole journey will be smooth sailing. The kneeling-style service is quite rare in Japan now. The dinner was also quite delicious and I was very satisfied."
