Hotel Buschhausen

Aachen|2.73km from downtown
We stayed for 3 nights in December and thought the hotel was as we expected before our arrival for the price we paid. Check in was easy and efficient from the receptionist who was friendly even though our coach driver had been having a blazing row with the owner less than an hour before because they wouldn't lay an evening meal on for us?? We already knew this and had booked a restaurant in town accordingly. After dropping our bags off in our room we then had to go back to reception and ask them if they could book us a taxi into town which we were a bit apprehensive about due to the earlier arguments. We needn't have been. Any time we needed any help phoning taxis, restaurants, etc the front of house staff could not have been more helpful and the blonde lady was always happy and friendly. The hotel was always warm, our room was nice with a comfy bed and the shower always had hot water. We had a drink in the bar area on our way out each night but never tried the restaurant as you're never going to get the same experience in a hotel as in a local restaurant so we just can't see the point of travelling hundreds of miles to sit in a hotel when there are always other options. The only meal we did have in the hotel was breakfast and there was plenty of everything, warm or cold and was more than acceptable. We bid auf weidesehen for our journey home early on the Monday morning and the owner was outside making sure we departed on time after the shenanigans from our driver and a few of the passengers who will doubtless complain about anything as it obviously makes their holiday better??? Weird. We finally arrived back in Reading services to be told by the next driver who was bringing us on the last leg of our journey that he hates taking people to the hotel we had just paid hundreds of pounds to stay in because he always has problems there?? What a great advert for Edwards coaches these drivers are especially as we didn't experience any problems at all apart from ones created by our driver.

Mercure Hotel Aachen am Dom

I have stayed in this hotel quite a number of times and consistently the quality of my stay has been high. This time was no exception. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and the bathroom were spotless and had everything I needed. The WiFi was complimentary and worked really well. The signal was strong and stable. There was one thing that I'd like to see changed though. You need to register every day, but the login process is confusing. After you've agreed to the terms and conditions and clicked on the button to get the free WiFi, another window pops up and it wants to know things from you. This is however not needed to sign up for the WiFi and seems to be purely for marketing purposes. By clicking on the right link, you can skip it. The room was not all that large, but the space was definitely adequate. There was more than enough space for my clothes and other things. The water boiler plus complimentary tea and coffee was convenient, just as the very large safety deposit box that easily fit my 15” laptop, plus other belongings. The work desk was small and especially with a regular chair, not suitable to work at for a longer period of time. The TV was small and had a limited set of channels, but that was not so relevant for me. A detail, but really useful, is that there are sufficient power outlets and at the right place. This makes it very easy to charge your devices. The bathroom was on the small side, but fully functional and the water pressure from the showerhead was more than sufficient. Only minor thing that I've noticed in the past too, is that it requires some engineering creativity to keep the showerhead in the right position. This should definitely be improved. It is annoying and unnecessary. Last, but not at all least, was the breakfast buffet. I really enjoyed it. This is mostly a continental style buffet, but with an amazing amount of choices, including various types of fresh and very tasty breads, yoghurts, fruits, cheeses, juices, cereal, etc. This is a great example to other hotels how to serve a healthy, yet delicious breakfast.

A&o Aachen Hauptbahnhof

Good service, good location, good breakfast, nice room. In general we had a nice stay. Just one small thing: our room is near the main street, so it's quite noisy at night. That makes us not easy to sleep well.
Jugendherberge Aachen
3.7/53 Reviews
Even if there was nothing to do with the accommodation itself, I still have our stay in a imaginably bad memory. Without being informed about dinner times, we arrived at night a few minutes after 19.00 hour to learn that the booked dinner is unfortunately no longer available. (The following day the dinner times were then open from 18.00 clock and 19.15 clock!) Then the dinner was no longer cancelled. And the request to get a lunch package next day was also rejected. Citated: ”They should pay that then.” That fits in the picture. For our reservation for 1 adult and 3 children was calculated for 4 adults. This was changed only on demand. But this jugi seems to me to have their financial experience. Incomes to give more interest than satisfied customers. There then also the wishes of the reception for a ”nice stay” after check-in are a little perverse. We will certainly not see each other again ...
Bp24 Hotel Aachen
3.5/517 Reviews
It is only 4 minutes walk from Aachen Hbf and 10 minutes walk to the old city, very convenient. The basic facilities in the room are also available, but there is no air conditioning, and the heat wave is 33 degrees. The staff has a good service attitude, check in check out is fast and convenient, and you can also store your luggage by yourself. The biggest problem is not the hotel itself, but the train station is carrying out large-scale engineering, there is a lot of noise at more than 7:00, and the window can not be solved with earplugs.
Art Hotel Superior
4.2/551 Reviews
Visited Art Hotel Aachen Superior due to a work meeting hold in Aachen in mid July! The location is very quiet and not far from the centre ! We had a big almost an apartment size & style room with a huge balcony all around the room! The service is more than ok with a good functionality at the front desk! They have a pool indoors but during our stay didn’t see really anyone making use of it! I reckon , probably because is not very inviting! Normal good breakfast and polite staff! If there is another time needed to visit Aachen again I would stay at the same Hotel!!!
Aquis Grana City Hotel
4.1/548 Reviews
Nice hotel at a good central location. Our room was spacious although quite warm (no airco). Shower facilities were ok, but the toilet space was extremely cramped. The bedding was not 100% clean. The service at the reception was very friendly. Excellent breakfast, lots of choice, omelettes or fried eggs on order, with super service by Abdallah. No parking, you have to put your care in one of the (very busy) parking garages nearby.
Ibis Aachen Marschiertor (Aix la Chapelle)
4/559 Reviews
We spent 4 nights in the delightful Ibis Marschiertor, which is even closer to Aachen’s Hauptbahnhof than the Ibis HBNHF. Relatively recently modernised, rooms are comfortable & offer everything listed in the descriptions for the rooms. Beds very comfortable, rooms clean. Very generous breakfast buffet including the opportunity to make your own fresh waffles. Wonderful staff, helpful & thoughtful, hospitable & charming. Lots of goodwill suggests the staff feel valued. Bonus: Aachen is an inspiring city & its citizens are friendly & approachable. What’s not to like?
