We arrived late, and the outside of the hotel doesn’t look like much. Friendly reception staff welcomed us and checked us in, and then the panic set in when we were told the rooms were in the basement, visions of sark, dark and damp rooms came to mind. Open the door and wow, newly refurbished large bright room with a massive modern bathroom! Bed was so comfy I slept well. In the morning breakfast was well appointed and tasty. The fresh bread was amazing! Reception again excelled them self’s sorting a taxi quickly without fuss. Great hotel pinching well above their price point!

The Wood Hotel by Elite, Spa & Resort

From an engineering point of view, I was really impressed with the wooden structure hotel. The hotel is new (2021) and is a striking landmark in the centre of Skelleftea. The receptionist was pleasant, easy check in and informative regarding the restaurants and facilities in the hotel. The interior is typical scandic, clean and simple and still has the pine wood fragrance. Our room was really nice, clean, simple, high tech and comfy bed. The view from our room was really good. We had dinner at the Mandel as part of our Weekend deal. The food was ok, but the service was bad, no smile or chit chat from the waiter. The restaurant was not busy, but seemed to take ages between dishes? The terrace outside the Mandel restaurant was really nice to sit outside having a drink, overlooking the town centre. The buffet breakfast was really good, with plenty of different choices. Overall, it was a tad expensive, but worth the experience.

We stayed in a junior suite four persons, two adults and two children. We booked the room with a view over the river for 100 SEK extra. Our friends that had booked a junior suite but without a view ended up getting a room with a view over a roof and the room they had been given smelled horrible from the sewer in the toilet. It was enough for me to open the door and then I had to back out because of the smell. When we complained they got another room next to ours. They had been waiting an hour for the hotel to send someone to the room before that. I think the hotel should have changed room for them immediatly and given an upgrade to a real suite, can't belive they asign guest rooms without checking everything is ok. The junior suite was functional, though not very well cleaned (a lot if dust, which is common all over the hotel except the spa and restaurants). There was a fan in the room, no AC, but it wasn't that hot when we stayed there so that was ok. Breakfast was ok, but crowdy and they forgot to or didn't bother to heat the prebeaked bread, minipans. There was a standard breakfast with yoghurt, eggs, bacon etc. Dinner was really nice, the meat was perfectly done. The SPA area is also very nice, especially the tub outside. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Could use some renovation. Atleast in the bathroom of the room I stayed in. The shower was leaking and I couldn't close one of the glass doors to the shower because it felt like it was gonna break. There was kind of a mosaic floor in the shower and several of the squares was loose. Also a bit weird that the sink was outside of the bathroom, in the room. However, I didn't really care about that. The hotel is in a very good location. The breakfast is good and the staff is nice. Definitely would stay here again.
