I really need to complain about the cleanliness. This hotel had four pillows for two beds, and one of them actually had urine stains on it! It smelled strongly of urine. I went to the front desk to ask for a replacement, but it never came, so I just threw it on the floor – it was unusable! Also, the water quality at the hotel was really bad. I brought my own filter faucet, and the filter element ended up black. I'm so glad I used it!
They saw I was staying with a child for two nights, but didn't offer any extra slippers or toothbrushes, which other hotels usually do proactively.
Furthermore, our room was on the 7th floor, and it happened to be a Sunday. From 4 or 5 AM, there were prayers, which were extremely loud and made it impossible to sleep. I asked the front desk to change rooms, but they said all the suitable rooms were full and there was nothing they could do. In the end, we had to endure it for two nights. 😓
On the positive side, the hotel's buffet was quite good. There were also some local specialty snacks that I tried. And the swimming pool was an infinity pool with a nice view. However, it was mostly local children swimming, so the adults didn't go in. The gym was also very well-equipped.
It was very convenient and close to the largest shopping mall in Surabaya. Downstairs was also a pedestrian street. After dark, there were many places to eat, as well as cafes and bars. It was a nice area to explore.
Overall, it was barely acceptable, but some basic standards should be upheld. Urine stains on a pillow are simply unacceptable; it definitely means the pillowcase wasn't changed! I hope the hotel can improve.
Hotel is connected to a mall. Great location. Room is clean. Breakfast at Magnolia has an extensive spread. Quality of food is good, nice presentation and service by staff is excellent. Ambience at Club lounge is nice. What stands out most in this 5* hotel is the world class service rendered by all staff consistently. There is no staff that isn’t polite or helpful. Many go the extra mile to ensure that the hotel guests needs are well taken care of. Special thanks to Evan of the Club Lounge who attended to us when we checked in and Tian when we checked out, Bayu and colleagues (Conceige) who assisted us with ordering of Spikoe lapis cake and Bu Rudy, Lita and David (Magnolia) who served us at our table and Bastian and team for keeping the room clean. We highly recommend this hotel.
Room was comfy, clean, and smelled nice when I walked in. Big smart TV, Amenities were all there, nothing missing.
There’s a bathtub which you can use to relax while watching tv, and the view from the room was spectacular. Bed was big and comfortable.
Staff were friendly and helpful, everything went smoothly. Would definitely stay here again.
This hotel could easily be a five-star, but the price is incredibly reasonable and the service is excellent. Even though it hasn't been open long, it feels like a renovated hotel, as some of the equipment is a bit old, especially the air conditioning which is very noisy. The hairdryer is also incredibly difficult to use. Breakfast was good and quite comprehensive. There's a Sentosa seafood restaurant nearby that's really good.
Our stay at Ciputra was wonderful. Fantastic location adjoining the Ciputra mall with many great restaurants nearby. Thank you to all of the fine professional staff that accompanied the very well appointed room and hotel facilities. The room was beautifully furnished, lovely comfortable bed, large bathroom along with a bathtub with great view. Room was quiet with pleasant views over Surabaya. Executive lounge/bar on 8th floor is a quite area with well appointed bar. The cool pool and jacuzzi on 22nd floor was special with a 270 degree vista over Surabaya city, extra gorgeous during sunset. Restaurant for breakfast had a delicious array of both western and Indonesian dishes in a colorful and fresh ambience. Special thanks to Alicia at reception whom communicated well and passed on the delicious gift for sevice recovery of our lift mishap. Just a slight improvement would be to improve the lighting in the car parking area as very dim and dreary at night.

Location is second to none, near to Tunjungan Plaza.
Service is amazing, I loved the short hair lady with glasses at the recep. She is so warm and friendly. Indigo's staff is also lovely and attentive.
Room is really nice. Big bathroom, hot showers. Good quality toilet paper (always a sign if the management cares). You can relax and trust everything works.
Pool is big and the water is warm. But the immediate sides of the pool is a bit dirty.
The chef here is superb. Their soto soups are out of this world. And almost everything on the breakfast buffet is so good. Except the coffee. That's pretty weak and not showing off true Indonesian coffee.
The cocktails here are so good too, great taste and strong as well. Although I didn't like the one with creme de menthe.
Heritage tour at 2pm and 4pm. Try to go. It's cool.

Great solid property and performance all round.. what a great short stay we had.. from the elegant lobby and lounge area through to the beautiful spacious room with lovely views over Surabaya. Exceptionally clean with every quality amenity on offer in room and within hotel confines. The room was peacefully quiet, with a soft comforting bed. Pool and recreational area was set amongst manicured palm trees and gorgeous gardens. The pool was one of the best balanced PH levels I’ve ever swam in. Nice comfortable lounges and ample seating around with some seats submerged along in pool. The refined service level at this hotel is a solid 10/10 from reception/concierge/ room attendants and especially in Pavilion Restaurant. The quality, presentation and variety of food is outstanding at breakfast. Thank you graciously for making our special occasion so welcoming with the beautifully adorable presentation on the bed, lovely celebration cake offered along with the very personal attention from the Sous Chef and charming restaurant staff at Pavilion. Special shoutout to Restaurant ambassador Wachid whom personally escorted our plated celebratory cake to our room. Reception and concierge service was also exceptional, graciously assisting us with our missing luggage wheel dilemma.
JW Marriott and all involved.. till we meet again.. Terih Makasih 🙏🏻
The villa is nice, spacious too, cm in the kitchen cupboard is a bit dirty as if it has never been cleaned. There are 2 zincs, one of which is blocked.
For the staff service is okay.
Breakfast is varied, interesting and delicious.
This was our second time staying at this hotel, and once again it exceeded our expectations in the best possible way. We arrived shortly after 12pm, fully prepared to leave our bags and wander around until the standard 3pm check-in time. To our pleasant surprise, the team offered us an early check-in without hesitation — a gesture that felt like an unexpected upgrade to our entire day. It’s the little things that truly make a big difference.
We stayed in a Standard Deluxe room, and it was more than spacious enough for the both of us. Comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, it provided exactly the kind of restful environment we needed. It’s always a good sign when you enter the room and immediately feel like you can take a nap without questioning your life choices.
Breakfast was another highlight of our stay. The spread was impressive, offering a good mix of local dishes, international options, and even Japanese selections. From savoury bites to sweet treats, there was something for every mood and every appetite. If breakfast is the “make or break” of a hotel stay, then this hotel definitely understood the assignment.
I would also like to give a special mention to Rusli at the reception. His warm hospitality and professionalism helped set the tone for our stay right from the moment we stepped in. Another heartfelt shout-out goes to Igrima from the restaurant. Although she is still a trainee, her dedication, attentiveness, and genuine passion for service shone through clearly. She handled her duties with the confidence of someone who has worked in the industry for years — a true rising star in the team.
Overall, our stay was memorable, comfortable, and pleasantly seamless. With consistent service and thoughtful touches like these, I’m confident that our third stay is not just likely — it’s inevitable. We’ll definitely be back again!
Room Change at Midnight, Poor Sleep
I had to switch rooms at midnight because the air conditioning couldn't cool below 20°C. The technician couldn’t fix it and advised me to call the duty manager. I had an early flight and needed rest, but the room change took time, and I was disturbed again by a late-night call offering a towel. I finally slept around 12:30 AM and had to wake up at 5:15 AM. On the bright side, the porter kindly gave me a breakfast bag before my early checkout. Still, I’m reconsidering staying here again—might opt for a 4-star hotel with better comfort next time.

HHook OneStayed there for 3 nights. Check-in was quick. Room amenities were just average and I noticed the bath towels were clean but need to replace as it looked slightly ”brownish” and slightly worn.
Breakfast was just average selections. And selections did not change for the 3 nights I stayed there.
However, it was a nice hotel and welcoming.

MMiyalvtuzheA truly excellent hotel.
The environment is stunning. I had expected rain for my trip, but the weather turned out to be perfect, and I got to see some beautiful scenery.
The hotel has a pool, which is fantastic for anyone who loves to swim. I was on a business trip, so unfortunately, I didn't have time to enjoy it.
The staff's service attitude was exceptional. What impressed me most was that every morning at breakfast, they remembered my name when they saw me.
It was a wonderful stay, and I'll definitely be back here the next time I visit Surabaya.
Breakfast was also delicious.
GGuest UserThis resort has great swimming pool and many facilities for kids. Bring your kids here! They will enjoy it for sure. Family friendly indeed.

GGuest UserThis was my first time staying at Ascott Surabaya, and the experience was not very memorable for me. When I first arrived, the security staff were not proactive in helping unload my luggage from the taxi.
Secondly, the lobby layout was not particularly impressive in my opinion. However, the staff were fairly friendly and explained the hotel facilities well.
As for the room, it was decent and in good condition. The kitchen equipment was complete, and the microwave, washing machine, and dryer all worked well. The bathroom was clean, although I think it could be redesigned to look more modern.
The check-out process went smoothly, but once again the security staff were disappointing. He just stood there without offering any help to load my luggage into the taxi. At that time I was carrying one large suitcase and one small one, so assistance would have been greatly appreciated. That should be part of a security staff’s responsibility, especially for a five-star hotel.
For the location, Pakuwon Trade Center (PTC) is located right in front of the hotel, making it very convenient to visit Pakuwon Mall, the largest mall in Indonesia.
For me, staying here once is enough. For some reason, I didn’t feel any significant comfort, especially for a five-star hotel, and the attitude of the security staff was very disappointing.

KKt1804Really enjoyed my stay here! The room was super clean, cozy, and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable, and everything felt fresh and well taken care of. Staff were friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. Definitely a great place to relax—would come back again!
GGuest UserStaff were incredibly friendly. The gardens were a beautiful oasis. Breakfast was good with plenty of options even for vegetarian food. Room was a little shabby but clean and comfortable.
