The location is spot on. Right on the end of the Dadonghai stretch. Prime location to start a good beach walk.
The breakfast until 13:30 is a perfect and they have a great variety. Suitable for westerners.
Very family friendly which for me as a downfall but for obvious reasons can be seen as a plus.
The gym was well equipped and the infinity pool was kept warm which was nice. The staff was very helpful. I initially booked for 5 nights and prolonged to 7.
You get your money’s worth out of this one. The view from the room was spectacular and so was the bath tub.
No privacy in the bathroom if you’re sharing though and no hooks to hang towels and robes.

Food is delicious, rich variety. Room is clean.

It’s near to the summer and pineapple malls.
There is a free shuttle bus to duty free mall. You can take info from the front desk.

Best location and best hotel in Dadonghai Sanya. direct tunnel walkway to the sea from hotel. Spectacular breakfast with western and Chinese flavor. even picky eaters will walk away with full belly.
Room is spacious, modern and with breathtaking views of the sea. Be sure to get the sea view room with breakfast. it's worth it.
Hotel staff is good. if you have any questions or problems ask for manager Jim . he is the best in hospitality and service.
the hotel has two swimming pools. one for kids and one for adults on top floor.
it would be even better if the pools are heated and the have a jacuzzi by pool area.
Hope they keep up the good service, strive for even better and be prosperous.

As always Sunshine Resort in Sanya is like a home always from home...but with better cooking :)
From the warm welcome from Vanessa at the front desk...to all the cleaners, wait staff and pool staff..you are treated as a valued visitor.
It is great to see the extra loung chairs at the pool and on the property above the beach and chairs and umbrellas on the beach...well done.
A big benefit is the newly developed bosrdwalk that goes the entire lenght of the beach with plenty of food and drink.
Also....although I do not have kids here..they always have entertainment on the holidays for the young ones.
I will always return the the special...”Sunshine” in Sanya

I had such a great experience at this hotel in Sanya! The location is perfect—just a short walk to the beach and surrounded by all the spots you’d want to explore. The pool was super nice, perfect for chilling when you don’t feel like heading to the ocean.
The best part? I got upgraded to a better room by the sweetest receptionist ever, Xiaojing 小静 (seriously, she’s the best!). The upgraded room had the most stunning beach view—I didn’t want to leave!
If you’re looking for a spot with amazing vibes and top-notch service, this is it. Can’t wait to come back!

I recently stayed at four seasons hotel sanya and waiter number 9 was very helpful and was thoroughly impressed with the exceptional cleanliness of the hotel, thanks to the hardworking staff! The room was spotless, and the attention to detail was impressive. The housekeeping team did an outstanding job of ensuring everything was tidy and sanitized. I appreciated the extra efforts they made to ensure my comfort and safety. Their dedication to cleanliness is truly commendable. Kudos to the entire housekeeping staff for a job well done! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a clean and comfortable stay.
Great location on Da Dong Hai beach and a few minutes walk to the swimming area on the beach. We booked the suite with terrace and it was absolutely amazing with lots of space and a plunge pool for our 4 year old to play in. Room cleaned on command and Abby - the housekeeper - gave me her WeChat on day 1 and was always so helpful and attentive. She even went as far as getting information on things for us and even booking in a massage (which I highly recommend from Bella) who was petite but very strong and knew how to hit the right spots.
Breakfast and dinner were fine with plenty of choice of both Chinese and western with beers and soft drinks available too.
My only gripe was being told the pool opens at 10am and upon explaining to the management that the pool is the main feature for any holiday resort along with the room, when you have a child that wakes up early, the pool should be available early like every other hotel we have stayed in and to be fair to the management, they agreed for it to be open for use from 8am. The tv package in the room was great and my son had plenty of choice of English cartoons including Peppa Pig.
I would say this hotel is a solid 4 star hotel though and not a 5 star like the Shanghaitian Hotel next door where we’ve stayed before.
The pool could do with some more deck chairs as they are quite limited. The pool could also do with some signs to tell the Chinese guests not to spit around the pool or even inside the pool which is disgusting and really off putting to foreign guests - which the hotel has a lot of! The room/suite could do with a few more power ports/usb and hooks in the bathroom. The toilet is very far away from the pool, you have to go all the way back inside the hotel almost to reception to use the toilet so if you are soaking wet but need the toilet then this could be dangerous and also encourages guests to release themselves in the pool instead which is unhygienic.
All in all though, we would definitely stay here again.

Very good hotel with a fantastic view of Phoenix Island. Was upgraded to a suite with two bedrooms on arrival. You can literally see the sunset from the balcony. The LED display on the buildings at Phoenix Island provided additional entertainment. Hotel is also walking distance to the night market and Sanya tran station. Housekeeper Kiki was very helpful and provided tips on where to go. Our request for additional towels was quickly attended to. Highly recommended!

The hotel from which due to its price and some other reviews we expected the least, turned out to be the best to a point that if we ever decide to go back to Sanya it would probably be one of our top choices. We only booked for one night before our early morning flight but it turned out to be a very positive surprise. Mangrove resort is a set of separate towers making a circle inside of which is a water park and a lot of bars, shops and restaurants. Each tower has its own pools, which in case of Buddha Tower were located on the third floor terrace and were quite decent although I guess in peak times they might feel too small for all the rooms in the tower. Still when we used it, it was more than okay. The rooms are a bit old, shower door is creaking like it has serious arthritis, but overall it was a good and very functional room with a nice view of the pool, water park and the inner courtyard.
High point of this place is that it feels like you and your kids could do something here for days. Bars, restaurants, live music, pottery workshop, a really cool dinosaur museum, water park, art workshops and probably more we haven't even discovered are all inside the resort's area.

During our stay at this hotel, we were very pleased with the service provided by butler Xiao Zeng! Not only did he enthusiastically recommend local cuisine to us, but he also offered us many useful travel tips. The hotel's location is excellent, with convenient transportation, making our travels more convenient. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay, and we will definitely choose this hotel again next time!

AAkshitTitle: A Truly Unforgettable Experience at Atlantis Hotel Sanya, China!
Rating: 5/5 stars
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Atlantis Hotel Sanya, China with my family, and I must say that it was an experience of a lifetime! The hotel's stunning architecture, beautiful surroundings, and exceptional service all combined to make our trip truly unforgettable. But what really made our stay stand out was the outstanding service provided by our private butler, Rafaela.
From the moment we arrived, Rafaela was there to greet us with a warm smile and a friendly demeanor. She showed us to our luxurious room and helped us get settled in, making sure that we had everything we needed. Throughout our stay, Rafaela was always available to assist us with anything we needed, whether it was making reservations, arranging activities, or simply providing recommendations for things to do and see in the area.
What impressed me most about Rafaela was her exceptional service, friendliness, and promptness. She was always one step ahead, anticipating our needs and making sure that we were happy and comfortable. Her attention to detail was remarkable, and she went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was special.
One of the highlights of our trip was the private tour that Rafaela arranged for us, which included a behind-the-scenes look at the hotel's aquarium and a special visit to the hotel's exclusive beach. It was a truly unique and unforgettable experience, and we were all so grateful to Rafaela for making it possible.
Rafaela's excellence and dedication to her work were evident in everything she did. She was always friendly, courteous, and professional, and she made us feel like we were part of the Atlantis family. Her service was truly exceptional, and we were all so impressed by her kindness, patience, and attention to detail.
In short, our stay at the Atlantis Hotel Sanya, China was truly unforgettable, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Rafaela. If you're looking for a luxurious and unforgettable experience in Sanya, China, I highly recommend the Atlantis Hotel and request Rafaela as your private butler. You won't regret it!
Special thanks to Rafaela for making our stay at the Atlantis Hotel so special. You are a true asset to the hotel, and we can't wait to return!
Highlights of our stay:
- Luxurious room with stunning views of the South China Sea
- Exceptional service from Rafaela, our private butler
- Private tour of the hotel's aquarium and exclusive beach
- Delicious dining options, including seafood and international cuisine
- Beautiful surroundings, including lush gardens and a private beach
Recommendation: If you're planning a trip to Sanya, China, don't miss the opportunity to stay at the Atlantis Hotel and experience the exceptional service provided by Rafaela. You won't regret it!
JJohnHarveyGrand Hyatt Sanya Haitang Bay
Some few keys I’d like to pinpoint during my stay in this resort. We were staying for 5 nights, from June 1st to 8th.
CLEANLINESS
I’m very surprised with the cleanliness in the room and surrounding areas. Walking through the lobby, garden areas, pool areas and of course the room. You’ll be able to see gardeners, housekeepers, and cleaners doing everything to clean the their areas. This resort is spotless. Five stars for that.
LOCATION
Location is quite far from downtown but enough to go shopping around 68 market/mall. The hotel is connected to the mall where you can find and dine local restaurants. It is good when you’re trying to avoid the pricy meal at the resort. (Go local, get cheaper)
And yes, location from the airport is about 35-45 minutes away. No traffic on the way. But try to avoid some local drivers who’s trying to give you a cheaper price to send you to the hotel. Always check the price on Didi or other app. When using those apps there will be no compromise.
SERVICE
Service. Well, overall it was great! Starting from reception, we were greeted during the arrival with the help of our luggage and stuff and guided us through the lobby. The receptionist attended us during check-in was very attentive and helpful (I didn’t get a chance to check her name). She was very helpful, and even gave us a tour through the map and sent us to the lift to our room.
The young man and young lady at the housekeeping dept. was always ready to help us with what we needed in the room and prepared a honeymoon decoration in the room on the first day with complementary champagne and a fruit basket (Downside: some are telling to give them five stars) but I totally understand as it helps them as well.
Restaurant staff are relatively friendly and helpful. Very welcoming when you coming for breakfast and guide us to our seats. BUT, you’ll need to come earlier than 9. Otherwise, you’ll be lining up outside the restaurant waiting for the vacant seat.
AMENITIES
Amenities are well cleaned and new. Showers and tub are quite new and well maintained. Other things in the resort are basically great.
Swimming at the beach is on your own risk. No lifeguard assigned to watch as it is a public beach. Basically it’s not allowed to go swimming. Haitang bay resorts are all the same. If you’re looking for a resort where you can swim, you need to find somewhere else such as Yalong bay or Wuzhizhou Island.
Overall stay was great.
Just bear in mind, if you’re looking for a hotel or resort for fun this resort is not for you. But if you’re looking for a relaxation and calm holiday this resort is for you.
There are only few entertainment and experience you can have in the resort such as live music during barbecue dinner at the Grand Cafe, dinner in the sky, and show outside the restaurant.
DDani-loGood:
- Beautiful sea-view room with a wonderful panoramic window.
- Lovely tropical gardens.
- Great swimming pool with lots of shaded areas and a transparent kayak.
- Lovely beach with loungers, sunshades and basic amenities (lemonade, towels, beach toys).
- Awesome night views.
- Amazing open-air aquarium with exotic fish and turtles.
- Great amenities for kids (electric vehicles, train, pedal karts, swimming pool floats and boats).
- Friendly and helpful staff.
- Great location near CDF mall.
- Really good breakfast.
Bad:
- I received a significant electric shock just by touching the front tray of the children’s popcorn machine at breakfast. I immediately informed a member of staff whose response made me feel this was not the first time it had happened. They switched off the popcorn machine and said somebody would fix it. 10mins later we saw the machine was switched on again (the staff member said it was fixed).
- The security chain on the door to our room locked itself from the inside after we left the room, so we could not get in when we got back. Had to wait 15-20min for staff to open the chain from the outside, then had to wait another 30-40min for a repairman to replace the old/faulty chain lock - this took a while because the new hardware did not fit properly and the door could not be closed (it was fixed with some loud hammering). The next day, the door couldn’t close again so I had to again wait for a repairman to fix it (more loud hammering).
- A few times we had no response when calling “instant service” on the phone. The WeChat service was also sometimes slower than we’d expected, especially for urgent questions.
- Tired and worn out exterior and interior decoration (faded/peeling paint, damp patches).
- Wobbly fixings (balcony light, toilet paper holder).
- Confusing A/C controls (two control panels, no indication what each one is for)
- Live music started quite late and was loud - we had to close balcony door to let our child sleep.
- Transparent doors to the shower and toilet cubicles.
- Inconsistent service at breakfast (some days very attentive, some days not so).
- No good value lunch or dinner options. I tried a room service salad which was terrible (it used canned beans, canned corn and canned chickpeas, and processed roast chicken) - surprisingly bad value and quality.
- One evening our taxi was not permitted to enter the hotel grounds due to a special event. We had to walk up the long driveway with our (tired) young daughter….it would have been nice for the hotel to offer their electric buggy shuttle from the main road to the lobby.
- After the trip, I received an email with a link to the bill, but this link took me to a web page which said an online bill was unavailable.
GGuest UserThe location is lovely - ocean on one side and mountains on the other side. Landscaping is beautiful. Our villa was very private with the vegetation. Listening to the birds and seeing butterflies made the experience even better. Mia (reception) was available whenever we had questions/concerns. She was very professional and kind. Whenever we had food delivered, the delivery personnel was always efficient. Housekeeping was friendly and efficient. The spa was enjoyed by my daughter. She had a scrub and a water treatment which she loved. That's why the Banyan Tree is well-known for their lovely spa treatments. The personnel was great. However, they took away the foot treatment which was disappointing. Consider bringing it back. When checking out, Hickey's friendliness and humor ended our experience at the Banyan Tree on a nice note. I wish I had known the villa pool wasn't heated. Though the temperature was nice in December, it was too cold to swim in an unheated pool. The resort's main pool was available though. The outside tub didn't have working lights which prevented a better experience from happening. More care in the maintenance of the villa might be an idea. For example, our pool umbrella had rips in it and the patio pillows were stained. That's an easy fix. Breakfast was nice in the selection of food. I'm not quite sure how to describe the experience at the restaurant. It was assumed that we couldn't speak Chinese (a natural thought since we are foreigners). When my daughter (fluent Chinese-speaker) spoke Chinese, she was conversing nicely with one female server when all of a sudden another one tapped her on the arm to stop when she proceeded to speak to us in English. I'm not sure if she wanted to practice her English or thought my daughter's Chinese was bad. It was an odd experience. The most bizarre thing was when one of the cooks (Louis Gao) acted as a personal butler for a foreign guest. It was disturbing to the rest of us guests in how the foreigner was getting special treatment... even having salt and pepper put into separate dishes. (Salt and pepper shakers were on his table.) The chef was excluding the rest of the resort guests. Why was this foreign man favored? What made him so special? All of us, other foreign guests and Chinese guests, looked at the ”show” with a feeling of disappointment. Please treat us all with the same courtesy.
TTravellingWallyTLDR: Had really high expectations when I booked this 5 diamond hotel, however the stay experience fell short from the expectations.
The Good:
+ Was offered room upgrade to sea view room during checked in.
+ Interior and exterior design of the hotel is really sets a relaxing tone to the entire stay.
+ It was a nice touch having Bellboys to help us with luggage and open doors whenever we arrive at the hotel lobby
+ Staffs and cleaners greeted us was also a nice touch
+ Breakfast options are extensive (including fresh juice bar and daily special juice concoction)
+ Free hotel activities to do daily
+ Gym is well maintained and a good number of machines
The Bad
- (Presales) Didn’t appreciate the fact that the booking page didn’t state the hotel deposit amount (which is slightly more than 1 time the hotel room price) and was only mentioned during check-in. Prior the trip, I tried to ask about whether there’s any hotel deposit via Trip.com message to hotel function and there’s no reply at all. (I mean a 3 diamond star hotel I stayed previous replied… but a 5 diamond star hotel didn’t).
- (Not controllable) Sadly, there’s construction going on and can see cranes and construction machinery hindering the view of the sea, as well as the noises.
- There’s supposedly a butler assigned to each guest, but my butler only added me on WeChat several hours after checkin. Also, was asking the butler about one of the afternoon hotel was still going on as we reached the venue and there’s no one around. He said he will check and then no reply for 20mins before I messaged him to inform that we won’t be waiting anymore. Didn’t appreciate that there’s no follow up.
- The shower control knob will suddenly fall off at certain angle which can be rather dangerous given that it has quite a weight to it.
- The bathtub’s shower head keeps leaking when we turned the other tap on to fill the bathtub, and we had to put the shower head into the bathtub to prevent flooding.
All in all, it fell short on expectations in terms of the service compared to the service my partner and I had experienced in a 3 diamond star hotel at a fraction of this hotel’s price.
Nonetheless, it is really a gorgeous place to stay in. Tastefully decorated and smell really great. Most of the staffs are friendly.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is beautifully located, but getting there was a bit complicated. The taxi driver dropped us off at the entrance gate of Yalong Park, and we had difficulty reaching the hotel. Despite sending an email in advance asking for the WeChat contact, we received no response. We only managed to reach the hotel by phone with the help of a kind lady at the entrance, who arranged for our luggage to be picked up at the park gate.
The room (Peacock villa nr. 5017) was truly beautiful and worth seeing, simply wonderful. It was also very clean, and the air conditioning was strong and effective. We dined at the Thai restaurant, but the dishes had a strong Chinese influence, which might not appeal to all Western guests. Unfortunately, the Western restaurant was closed during our stay.
We were transported to the various attractions in the park by a VIP shuttle bus. Leo provided us with his WeChat contact, which made exploring the park possible despite our lack of Chinese language skills. English is not spoken at the hotel, which made communication challenging. Leo had to send us the tickets for the attractions via WeChat, which was a bit complicated. It would have been more convenient if the tickets were provided at check-in.
Overall, the hotel is truly worth seeing, but one night is sufficient in our opinion. Checking out was also hassle-free, but the 1000 RMB deposit was only refunded upon request.
We particularly want to thank Leo for his exceptional efforts in ensuring we had a wonderful stay. His assistance was invaluable and greatly enhanced our experience.
In summary, a beautiful hotel with some logistical challenges, but definitely worth a visit.
SSuntikaI stayed at the Shangri-La Sanya to celebrate a friend’s birthday over the weekend.
We booked the Club King Room which came with a lot of free activities and saved us a lot.
Check in was smooth as I was helped By Guest Relations Supervisor, Dora and her colleague Nancy. They were kind, attentive and professional.
The hotel has a mini supermarket in Building 1, which was nice.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel was incredible. I would suggest S.E.A restaurant it’s a Southeast Asian Restaurant.
I feel the hotel failed my expectations in two area:
1. The spread offered at afternoon was limited and if you didn’t arrive on time you had to wait about 10-20 mins for the next batch of food to come out.
2. At Happy Hour in the club lounge, there was a few bottles of hard liquor, chilled prosecco and wine. However?l, once the bottle was empty it was replaced with another fresh bottle.
Other than that, my friend and I had an amazing stay and was definitely worth it.
GGuest UserThis was our first time in this hotel and we enjoyed a lot! The staff is really kind. Apple could speak English and she offered an upgrade for the room during check in. The view was amazing. But especially Beck helped us a lot, resolving all our doubts or questions. He was great for us to spend a great time. The breakfast at the hotel is really good, with a lot of options ( noodles, guangdong steam, a bakery room…). The hotel has 4-5 pools, one of them with slides. And there was a foam show everyday 17-18h. The beach , 5 minutes walking was wonderful: clean, almost empty. What we also liked was all the plants around the hotel. There were also a hainan restaurant and Chongqing hotpot. We are looking forwards to come back very soon! We loved this hotel!
JJulien LCThis hotel is a vestige of its former glory.
It’s clean and tidy, but could use an upgrade. Facilities are ok, even though swimming pools are not all open. It’s quite disappointing and the hotel’s pictures do not represent the current conditions.
Location is amazing, and while swimming in front of the hotel is technically forbidden, everybody does!
Lots of nice restaurants nearby. Easy access to the beach (closer than most hotels in Yalong Bay).
Budget friendly though so it might be worth it for the location. You’ve been warned!
CCamillaKJI had fairly high expectations when I got to this location, but unfortunately the standard was fairly low. It might be due to the fact that covid has affected this area. The maintaining of the hotel wasn't great. Our bathroom door was broken, the sofa pillows had dirty spots on them, the pool chairs are all covered in dirt, people were smoking in the elevators not taking it into consideration that there are a lot of kids here, and other people that doesn't want to inhale smoke for that matter.. I spoke to the reception about the smoking and they Confirmed it isn't legal, but they didn't have anyone to take care of the matter so nothing they could do if someone were to smoke. The swimming pools around as well as in the water park were all very cold, a lot of dirty pools in the water park too. Because of the cold unpleasant to swim unless it was very sunny. The Breakfast was a disaster. Too crowded with people and just very basic chinese food. We ended up only eating raw vegetables and fruit the one time we went. We were also told a bedrail or a crib would be arranged for our daughter, but that didn't happen. We ended up using the sofa in the room to create some sort of barrier to assure she wouldn't fall out the bed and hit the hard floor. The Restaurants around at the time all took 40 minutes or more to serve us anything, repeatedly forgetting drinks and dishes, despite the fact that there was barely any people there. The portions are fairly small as well and quite pricy considering. We ended up just ordering online instead from other restaurants. It was nice our Daughter had a big play place to enjoy at least, the large one they have on site indoors. Besides that, I do regret choosing this location. It was for our Daughter, but unfortunately not much around she could enjoy properly. The smell of urine when you walk around is a bit off putting as well, many kids pee on the streets, as well as right next to the roof top sandpit. I Understand it's hard to control kids needing to go to the bathroom, but because of this it would have been nice if the hotel chose to raise the standard of their overall cleaning. Also a little bit inconvenient that the rooms only have one chair on the balconies. Fairly quiet when you're in the room, that was nice the least.
