Hotels in Dianchi Lake Scenic Area, Kunming

This is the second time I’ve booked this hotel and also the second time I’m impressed with the hotel service. I’ve touched down Kunming too early and since I’m tired from late night flight, I head straight to the hotel after I’ve landed although I understand check in cannot be so early. The concierge was nice to allow me and my partner to enjoy breakfast (we booked stay with breakfast) while waiting for guests to check out as their hotel was fully booked. Right after our breakfast, the concierge saw us and quickly chased up the cleaning staff to tidy up the room asap so guests can check in earlier. I appreciate their thoughtfulness in this and was lucky to check in in the morning although the stated check-in time is 2pm. I also appreciate the cleaning staff attentiveness to us as we prefer the room to be clean up every 2 days instead of daily. (We book 4 nights there). She keeps checking in with us as she is worried we run out of drinking water, tissue paper, toilet roll and clean towel almost every morning. On our last day, we came back to our room around late afternoon and she thoughtfully hang a laundry bag filled with drinking water bottles and even new pack of tissue on our door. (We leave do not disturb button on while we went out.) The hotel staff at lobby was also very attentive when we get out of Didi outside in the rain, he runs towards us with umbrella to shield us from rain. I also enjoy hotel breakfast very much as I arrived in Kunming with weak stomach and needed non spicy and easy food to ingest. They provided a great range of food that suits foreigners, children and even sick adults like me. Thank you Dianyu Yunling, I know I can trust this hotel’s service level and will return to this hotel again for my next Kunming trip!

This garden hotel is absolutely stunning! The garden is like a huge energy field; a walk through it every evening recharges you. A big thank you to the lovely front desk lady who arranged a beautiful room with a direct view of the garden – it was so refreshing to open the window each day. The swimming pool is also fantastic! It's deep and spacious, with excellent water quality, making for a truly enjoyable swim. The room was cleaned promptly, and the housekeepers thoughtfully left four bottles of water, all neatly arranged! I was able to add the butler on WeChat, and during my five-night stay, I received fruit for three days, and two cans of coffee as a farewell gift! Our room rate included breakfast and dinner, and for all five nights, the food at the restaurant was consistently excellent! The Yunnan local dishes, in particular, were so delicious they almost brought tears to my eyes! The rice noodles were incredible, with four different types of toppings! I had rice noodles for both breakfast and dinner! The fruit selection was also abundant, with seven or eight varieties. I especially loved their freshly squeezed juices, particularly the cucumber juice. And they have an Indian chef whose flying bread and curry are simply divine! The location is superb! A short walk through Haigeng Hall leads you directly to Haigeng Dam, making it incredibly convenient to see the seagulls! Xishan and Haihong Wetland are also not far, perfect for a leisurely stroll. I hope to stay at InterContinental Hotel again on my next visit to Dianchi Lake. The quality and service far exceeded my expectations!

The room was incredibly clean, so much so that even the faucets were sparkling. They provided plenty of bottled water, and the mini-fridge was stocked with complimentary Coke and hawthorn juice. Plus, they delivered coffee daily, and the Yunnan coffee was excellent – they even had a high-end Gemilai coffee machine at the front desk. The best part was the EV charging station; the slow charge at 80 cents per kilowatt-hour was a real bargain. If I had to suggest an improvement, it would be the fixed breakfast menu. It was a bit monotonous, especially for guests like us who stayed for several days. A buffet option would be a great addition.

The hotel is located near Dianchi Lake. If you turn right after exiting, there's a large Haigeng Park about 200 meters away. I was on a business trip, so I didn't get a chance to explore it. I stayed for 5 days and 4 nights and was very satisfied. The room's layout was well-thought-out, a definite plus! The hotel's environment is quiet and the facilities are all new. The breakfast was rich and plentiful; I feel like I've gained weight in just two days! 🥰

Facilities: I really love the hotel's subtle Nanyang-style charm, especially the super-large balcony with a rocking chair. In the evening, the whole family can sit on the balcony, listen to the breeze, chat, and soak in Kunming's slow pace. Cleanliness: The cleanliness is impeccable. I have a slight obsession with cleanliness, especially sensitive to any odors in bedding. But even a Virgo with a clean freak personality wouldn't find a single flaw here. This deserves high praise! 👍🏻 Environment: The hotel is located within a tourist area, offering a tranquil escape from the bustling city. Although it faces the street, it's not noisy. Dining and leisure options nearby are very convenient. For ease of travel, the hotel even arranges a private car transfer service to and from the drop-off/pick-up points, which is so thoughtful! ❤️ Additionally, for hiking enthusiasts, the nearby Dianchi Caohai and Dongfeng Dam are fantastic places to visit, with breathtaking scenery. Service: 💯. From arrival to departure, the butler provided meticulous care almost throughout our stay. Upon arrival, we were immediately offered hot towels and fresh flower cakes, and our room had welcome fruit. For breakfast the next day, we could customize our order before 8 PM the previous evening, with a rich variety of delicious and healthy options! Overall Impression: A very satisfying stay, especially enjoyed by the children. Fantastic!

The service was incredibly attentive. While the late check-in was a bit unpleasant, your service more than made up for it. The executive lounge was also very considerate of guests; knowing we weren't used to the chopped chili pomfret, they specially prepared a plate of chopped chili yellow croaker for me [strong emoji]. The hotel environment is great, and Ctrip even provided a complimentary travel photoshoot.

This hotel booking was a wonderful surprise! First, there was ample parking, which was very convenient for our family traveling by car. The room was spacious and bright, and right across from Daguan Park, making sightseeing easy. From the parking lot to the elevator, we met a staff member who proactively helped us take our luggage to the elevator. When checking in, the front desk lady was warm and thoughtful, offering a lovely welcome fruit platter and personally escorting us to our room, sending us the check-in guide. Later, in the elevator, we met another staff member. She noticed our baby really liked pears, so she discreetly prepared four pears and placed them in our stored stroller. This morning, after checking out, the housekeeping staff found our baby's forgotten pillow and promptly returned it to us. As we were driving away, the lady even brought our luggage out to the car. Every staff member we encountered during our stay greeted us with a smile. The drying room on the basement level was incredibly practical. We put our washed clothes in there, and they were completely dry overnight, not affecting our early morning check-out the next day. Such a hotel with such thoughtful service – we will definitely be back!

Room Type: My room on the third floor had a small courtyard and was a loft style. I had originally booked for three nights, but being a light sleeper, I found the noise from either the air conditioner or solar water heater a bit loud after the first night. After speaking with the butler, we were upgraded to a duplex garden chess and card family room for the second and third nights. This room had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, was very spacious at 135 square meters, and offered a much better experience. Hygiene: The room was clean and tidy, with a smart toilet and a strong shower. Service: Our butler was very enthusiastic, attentive, and thoughtful. He helped with pick-up, drop-off, and luggage, and provided water, hangers, and anything else we needed during our stay. Big thumbs up to him (I didn't catch his name, so I'll just call him the 'chubby young man' for now 😀). Surrounding Environment: Not far from the hotel, there's Dianchi Green Island, where people jog and cycle. The environment is beautiful and the air is fresh, making it perfect for a relaxing vacation. Minor Drawback: The breakfast selection was a bit limited, though it was very healthy. It would have been even better with more variety. Overall, it's worth staying here, and I would choose it again next time.

When we checked into our room, the TV wasn't working. A friendly front desk staff member came up and tried to fix it for quite some time, but unfortunately couldn't. She immediately offered to switch our room and help us move our luggage. My child and I decided it wasn't a big deal without the TV since we could easily cast content to it, so we declined the room change. To apologize for the inconvenience, the hotel thoughtfully sent us a fruit platter and a souvenir gift for two consecutive days. Our original booking didn't even include breakfast, but they generously provided it for free. Then, at check-out, they apologized again for the TV issue and presented us with another bag of souvenirs. Their incredible generosity honestly made us feel a bit overwhelmed! What we initially considered a minor glitch turned into a testament to Atour's truly touching service. Moreover, the hotel's environment is very comfortable, and the cleanliness is impeccable. Every time we entered or left the lobby, we were greeted politely, creating a very welcoming atmosphere. This was absolutely my most satisfying hotel stay experience.

This hotel deserves more than five stars! The location is fantastic, right across from Haigeng Park, offering breathtaking sunset views. You can even catch rainbows and the Tyndall effect during sunset. The hotel is very clean, and the breakfast spread is excellent. I'll definitely choose this place again for my next trip.
