Hotels in Cuihu District, Kunming

First time in Kunming, I ended up choosing the well-established Grand Park Hotel. The overall decor has a very Hong Kong feel to it. The room wasn't huge, and the facilities were a bit old-fashioned, but it was very clean and the service was excellent. A special shout-out to Michael! The absolute best part was the breakfast – it was truly outstanding and definitely worth coming for on its own. It was clean and hygienic, with a wide variety of high-quality options. There weren't many traditional stir-fries, leaning more towards Western choices. The roasted chicken was incredibly tender and flavorful. The homemade yogurt was also a highlight. The hotel's location is also excellent; you can see Green Lake Park from your room, and there are tons of tourist spots nearby. The little streets nearby are great for exploring. All in all, I highly recommend it; it's fantastic value for money!

I ended up extending my stay for another night immediately after the first one. (Personally, I think the 8-bed dorm is even better than the 6-bed one – in the 8-bed, six people are separated from four, giving you a bit more space. The 6-bed dorm by the window has a smoking and chat area right below it at night.) The location is excellent; it's just across the street from Cuihu Park, a quick walk across the road and down some steps. It's also within walking distance of the subway station, and the area isn't noisy. The morning sunlight is lovely when you wake up. The front desk staff are very attentive; they helped me with my luggage and guided me upstairs. The online customer service was also very responsive. The cleaning aunties were responsible and thoughtful. You use a card to enter, and there are lockers above where you can put things. Inside the drawers, there are bath towels, water, and a care kit (which even included fringe stickers!). There are also disinfected slippers. The bed was comfortable, and the bedding, lights, and charging ports were all high-quality standard, plus there's a small bedside table. The bathroom wasn't crowded, and the toilet was convenient and clean. There's also a laundry area, but with limited hours. The restaurant bar on the second floor has a great vibe. The corridor has swings and tables and chairs where you can sunbathe and have tea in the morning, or enjoy the breeze and chat at night. There were quite a few foreign friends there. Looking at the guestbook, the postcards downstairs, the message board, and the daily activity posters, it really feels like one of those rare places with genuine human care from a few years ago – or at least, it matches my impression of what a Yunnan youth hostel atmosphere should be! If you need to book, it's best to do it in advance, as this place is quite popular, haha. Oh, and I highly recommend the Caoya Rice Noodles shop right across the street; I thought they were delicious!

The location is excellent, right by Cuihu Lake. The room was indeed small, but that's understandable given the prime real estate around the lake. The in-room amenities are all high-end brands like Duravit, which shows the designer's attempt to compensate for the small size. The bedside power strip and reading light design are also quite clever. The service was great; the front desk staff were enthusiastic and even helped with laundry and promptly mailed back an item I left in the room. My only minor complaint is that the lobby can get quite noisy during lunch and dinner service. I feel for the ladies working at the front desk who have to patiently assist guests and answer questions in such an environment – you all are doing a fantastic job!

The hotel's location is excellent; it's just a five or six-minute walk to Cuihu Park, making it super convenient for families with strollers – no obstacles, just hassle-free fun! You can even enjoy a panoramic view of Cuihu Park from the hotel rooftop. On our first night, our flight arrived in Kunming after 7 PM. We got to the hotel in about 35 minutes. They offer late-night snacks like rice noodles and regular noodles until 10 PM, which was such a warm welcome for us late arrivals, and the food was delicious too! 😄 When we checked in, the front desk thoughtfully provided a guide to attractions around the hotel, covering all the best spots for dining, entertainment, and sightseeing.

This is a pretty good hotel. The breakfast is nice, and the service is excellent. The front desk even upgraded my room. It's right by Cuihu Lake, not far from other attractions, and the surrounding area is great for walking around and taking photos. **Facilities:** The room design is a bit old-fashioned, and the bathroom not having a separate wet and dry area isn't ideal. The internet also wasn't very good. Considering it's a 70-year-old hotel, the facilities are still acceptable. Overall, I highly recommend it.

My overall stay at the Gongxili Pujian Hotel was excellent. The New Chinese-style decor, with its national aesthetic and Zen elements, is elegant and tranquil. The courtyard offers a serene environment, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The location is superb, close to Cuihu Lake and Yuantong Temple, making it very convenient for sightseeing. The rooms are clean and tidy, with comfortable bedding, and each room is equipped with a direct-drinking water dispenser and a separate wet/dry bathroom. The front desk service was attentive and thoughtful, and the staff were kind and efficient with check-in. The self-service breakfast offered a rich variety, and there's also a free tea room and laundry room. The whole atmosphere is great, quiet and comfortable, making it very suitable for business trips or leisure travel. Highly recommended.

Staying here with kids was very convenient and offered good value for money. The hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of Cuihu Park, so you can easily return for a nap after exploring. There are plenty of snack and dining options nearby, and it's close to the subway, making both travel and eating out very convenient. The room was clean, and the twin beds provided enough space for the kids to move around. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and the front desk could provide children's toiletries. The delivery robot brought food to the room, so I didn't have to go downstairs with the kids. Breakfast included freshly cooked rice noodles and wontons, which were perfect for children.

Perfect for a family trip! Facilities: The room has a king-sized bed (1.8m) and a queen-sized bed (1.5m), plus self-service laundry. Easily accommodates a family of three, no more cramped sleeping or tedious laundry. Hygiene: Towels, bathrobes, disposable slippers, and paper cups are all sealed, so you can use them with peace of mind. Food: The breakfast quality is good. While the variety isn't extensive, everything tastes great. Especially the freshly made rice noodles (delicious sauce) and the flavorful fried rice noodles.

I highly recommend the Hometel on Youth Road! The location is excellent, with super convenient transportation, and plenty of dining options and supermarkets nearby, making it easy to get around and explore. From the moment you step in, you'll feel the thoughtful and attentive service; the staff are gentle, friendly, and genuinely warm. The room is clean and refreshing, with a well-organized and rational layout that gives off a cozy, home-like feel. The bedding is soft and comfortable, the bathroom is spotless and odor-free, and hot water is reliably available 24/7. The hotel's overall environment is quiet and elegant, away from the hustle and bustle, making for a relaxing and pleasant stay. The value for money is excellent, offering a superb experience for an affordable price. My entire stay was comfortable and carefree, a truly fulfilling experience. It's an excellent choice for short stays and definitely worth returning to.
