We have cancelled 3 of our bookings along the same route towards your locations due to unforseen weather change during the past few days. Thus, we can have made alternate plans. 2 of our bookings were able to cancel and refund us due to our situation but only hotel haland won't be able to cancel for us. They should be flexible and relook into individual situations and refunded accordingly.

I advise you not to book a price that includes breakfast, because the breakfast is very sloppy and not worth it. The hotel is a fully self-service ski apartment. You need to contact the front desk to get the room number and password, and use the password to enter and exit. The overall health, hardware and environment are quite good.

The hotel was supposed to send an email with check in instructions 48 hrs prior to check in with door codes and room number, never received. We drive here from town with the expectation that the name says hotel halond. That it is a hotel but it is not, it’s a self check in check out. So panicking trying to find an email turning my phone data on(had updated my emails the night before on wif) can’t find any email anywhere. Not phone number to be found on door. Find the number online call it. She gives us the codes and room number no apology. Just an absolute cluster of disorganization. It’s 10pm 70km/hr winds trying to get into a “hotel” that we booked 30 days ago. Rooms are nice and modern but honestly lack of organization just kills it. Try at your own risk

I loved staying here, my room was spacious, clean, TV had all the apps, great view looking over Akureyri , super quiet. It’s a self service hotel but if you message the staff about anything they respond very quickly. The hotel is a 5 min drive into town, I took taxies because I don’t drive it cost approx £20 each way. If I had to nit pick, I’d say I would have liked to have a kettle to make hot drinks, and a hair dryer. I would 100% stay here again.

The room was very spacey, cosy and clean. However, the check in did not go so smoothly. We had not realized that it was a self check in hotel, and we had not received any information / email with codes to enter the building and the room.

I did not realize this was a self check in hotel. When we arrived they were working on building more. I had not received an email with a code to enter the property. If the contractors had not been there I am not sure how we would have entered. There was not even a sign with a phone number. We got the room right next to where the contractors were working. Loud drilling and chemical smells at 5pm. We booked for 3 they had the sofa bed ready but only gave us towels for 2 and no one to call to ask for more. It is set up like a ski resort. Frig in room and coffee in room are nice. The bed was rock hard and felt lumpy. Had trouble sleeping it was so bad.

I made a reservation on the same day through a reservation site. I received a 4-digit code, building number, and room number by email to enter the building and the room. I entered the 4-digit code at the entrance to enter the building. No matter how many times I tried, I got an error and couldn't enter the building. I inquired by email but got no response, so I called the hotel's contact number sent by the reservation site. I was connected to the hotel's customer center and explained that the code number I was given didn't open the entrance, but the woman on the phone immediately sent me an email with the same content, "Your code is XXX, your room number is XXX, we will send you another confirmation email." So, even though I was complaining that the code number didn't open the entrance door, she didn't listen. I called a second time. A different woman answered. This time she gave me a new code number to open the entrance and waited over the phone to see if the entrance opened properly. With the new code number, the key box lit up green (I was told that it would light up green if successful) and the entrance door opened. I hung up the phone. I thought I could enter the room. It's been more than an hour since I arrived at the hotel, and it's gotten quite chilly. However, when I enter the code number in front of the room designated for me, it's an error again. I also get an error when I enter the number I was given the first time. No matter how many times I try, it's an error. I call a third time. A different woman answers again. She stubbornly tells me, "Your number is the number in the first email, there is no new code number," and "The code number I gave you is valid and not wrong," and does not deal with the fact that the door to the room won't open. Since the hotel has received the reservation, if there is a problem, I think they should prepare a different room or make an effort to open the room with a different code number, but they did not do anything like that. I call a fourth time, but a man answers, and the same thing happens over and over again, so I feel very sad. Why don't they help me? I'm in front of the door of the room, complaining that I can't enter the room at all, but they don't give me any alternative. More than three hours have passed here. Since I couldn't get anywhere, I called the customer center of the reservation site and had them call the hotel from the reservation site. As a result, the reservation for this hotel was cancelled. I was given a refund. It's not just a matter of getting my money back. Even in September, nights in Iceland (especially in the north) can get below freezing, and the locals would know that very well, but it just seemed like they were just throwing their reservation customers out in the cold. I've visited 38 countries and stayed in many hotels, but this is the first time I've experienced such dishonest behaviour from a hotel.

The hotel was recommended to us by the Diamante tour operator with whom we had booked a different hotel. Curiously, the day after we made the payment we were told that for unspecified reasons of overbooking our hotel had been moved and we were told that we would have to book at the halond. It is located about 5 km from the city and can be easily reached by car, which can be parked in front of the room. Being completely without a reception, it was expected that we would receive an email with the directions to access and the numerical password to be entered at the entrance. Not having received this email, we had to make an initial phone call to the number given to us and we were told the room number and the access code... however, it was not specified to us that there are two buildings numbered five and seven and it was not explained to us which of the two buildings our room was in. From the outside it is impossible to know since the room numbers are only inside the corridors. We then had to call back and were told that our room was in building 5. The rooms are new and clean and quite spacious. Thanks to a rather heavy dinner consumed in the city (By The Way the hotel we had initially booked had an internal restaurant which is quite convenient when traveling. For this reason I have the unpleasant behavior of the Diamante which immediately seemed inappropriate given that we were moved to a hotel outside the center and without not only a reception but also a restaurant) we would have liked to drink something hot but it was impossible since there are no tea bags, herbal teas or anything else in the rooms in the room intended for the self-preparation of breakfast there is nothing of anything except the Nespresso machine. Since we started our holiday in Iceland, all the hotels where we stayed overnight had tea and herbal tea bags in the rooms. It seems truly absurd to me that a device of this type is not present in a hotel of this level which is completely devoid of a bar and reception. The bathroom and towels were clean. However, the shower was clogged so when taking a shower the water did not drain. Overall, this is a hotel that would have the potential to deserve a good number of stars but due to absolute disorganization it deserves a nice ZERO. And he can share this vote with the diamond.
