Overall, the hotel is good, especially because of its convenient location near a shopping mall, making it easy to purchase daily necessities and other items. The breakfast café is spacious and offers a wide variety of food choices. However, there are a few areas that could be improved. While the breakfast selection is extensive, the taste of the food was somewhat disappointing and could be enhanced. In addition, the cleanliness of the room needs more attention. The floor felt dusty, as if it had not been properly swept or vacuumed. Guests who are not comfortable wearing the hotel slippers may notice the dust more easily. With improvements to room cleanliness and food quality, the overall guest experience would be much better.

Close to the airport and situated on a beautiful beachfront, almost 80% of the guests were Chinese tourists. We stayed for four nights and it never felt boring; the kids absolutely loved playing in the pool. Breakfast was abundant, and my children insisted on having pasta at the seaside restaurant every evening, even having two portions on our last night. Our favorite amenity was the ice machine on our floor, making it easy to grab ice anytime. The sea-view terrace room was spacious, directly facing the ocean, and incredibly comfortable. The hotel even has its own pier, offering easy access to nearby islands like Sapi Island. It's a shame we didn't experience any world-class sunsets during our 4-day stay, which was a bit disappointing.

I chose this hotel for a one-night stay before heading to the overwater bungalow the next day. Although the room facilities were a bit old, they were very clean. There's a convenience store right downstairs, and it's very close to the pier. The sea breeze was a bit loud at night, but the breakfast was excellent and plentiful.

The room was simple and clean, and although the decor was a bit old-fashioned, the location was excellent. However, rooms facing the street were indeed quite noisy. It's very close to the pier, directly opposite a large shopping mall, and right next to Gaya Street... super convenient for everything.

This is my second stay at Shangri-La Rasa Ria, with the last one being 13 years ago. Although the hotel is older, the facilities are generally well-maintained. There are some minor damages in certain nooks and crannies, and while the bedding felt clean, I personally thought it was a bit old-fashioned. As a five-star hotel, I believe the linens should be updated more regularly. The service was excellent – warm and attentive. Some staff members could communicate in Chinese. Furthermore, knowing we had a child, they even converted the sofa into an extra bed in advance. The location is quite remote, so dining options are limited to the hotel itself. You can also use Grab, but the choices there are somewhat limited. The hotel's various restaurants offer different cuisines, catering to individual preferences, though the prices are a bit on the high side. The hotel has many activities available, which are great and fun for kids. If you have the budget for a family trip, I'd highly recommend it.

Location is strategic , rooms are big enough.Aircon is good and cool enough. Overall ok just have some weaknesses for example the cleanliness. A lot of ants on table. Washing machine not functioning. Hair dryer got sparks when turn on Car park provided.

We stayed here for two nights on a family trip. The location was excellent; we could walk to shopping malls and restaurants, which was very convenient. The staff were friendly, and check-in and check-out were smooth. The room, pool, and gym were kept clean, making for a comfortable stay. While we felt the breakfast could have had a bit more variety, overall, we were very satisfied and consider this hotel to offer great value for money. We would definitely like to stay here again when we visit Kota Kinabalu.

Back here again, this time with a twin room. Simple and comfortable room, with a great location and a delicious breakfast spread. 👍🏼 One area for improvement: clearer instructions for general enquiries would help. The phone buttons indicate “Guest Request / Reception”, dialled but we were unable to get through after 10–15 minutes and eventually had to head to reception to enquire and was told to dial “0” instead. Other than that, another pleasant stay with no other issues. 😊

Great Location and Service, but Impossible to Sleep 📍 Location & Transport Pros: Excellent location, close to the city center. Just a 10-minute walk to Gaya Street and the seaside. Cons: The surrounding area is very noisy. The hotel is close to the Filipino Market, which becomes incredibly loud every weekend. 🛌 Room Comfort & Soundproofing – The Biggest Problem: The soundproofing in this hotel is practically non-existent. I could barely sleep at all during the weekend. Noise Disturbance: Between 1 AM and 5 AM, there were constant loud motorcycle engines and children screaming. Additionally, there's a mosque nearby, and the 5 AM call to prayer will definitely wake you up every day. Room Space: On the plus side, the room itself is quite spacious. 🧼 Cleanliness & Facilities Overall Hygiene: Generally acceptable, but the bathroom cleanliness could use some fine-tuning for improvement. Drainage Issue: The bathroom drainage system is a bit poor, with water flowing out very slowly. Swimming Pool: Fantastic. The pool area offers a beautiful sunset view, perfect for watching the sun go down. 🛎️ Hotel Service & Staff Excellent Service: The staff are very polite and helpful. Complaint Resolution: When I reported the noise issue, the front desk staff were very proactive in assisting and even offered to move us to another room. Although we didn't end up changing rooms, their service attitude was truly excellent. Summary: If you're a heavy sleeper who isn't easily disturbed, or if you're only staying on weekdays, the location and pool here are indeed great. However, if you value sleep quality, the extremely poor sound insulation makes it very difficult for me to recommend this hotel.

Great location, with a rich breakfast spread. Downstairs there's a mall, and the subway is right outside. Our room had a direct view of the Twin Towers at night. Check-out was also smooth; originally, our booking only included breakfast for two adults, but when they saw we had a child with us, they let our little one enjoy breakfast for free without any fuss!
