The hotel offers good value for money, and the room is comfortable. Its location is very convenient, with a shopping mall nearby and plenty of food options and daily necessities within walking distance. The cleanliness is acceptable, although I'm not always sure whether the room is thoroughly cleaned every time housekeeping comes in. However, overall, my stay has always been satisfactory. I stay here quite often because it suits my needs, and the service is generally good as well. Overall, a decent and satisfying hotel for the price.

Room: Very spacious, consisting of a dining area, living room, bedroom, two bathrooms, and a terrace. It was comfortable for three adults (though the extra bed in the living room was not very comfortable and not recommended for those with back problems). Decor: As a historic hotel, it's generally well-maintained. Although half of the rooms are currently undergoing renovation, my room was not affected – I neither saw nor heard any construction (I had specified my room preferences when booking on Ctrip and also emailed the hotel in advance). Room View: My room was on the 4th floor, which didn't have as good a view as the same room type on the 2nd or 3rd floors (the eaves above obstructed part of the view), and nearby pillars also blocked some of the scenery. It wasn't as good as the standard sea-view rooms at Tanjung Wing, but overall it was still very open with both sea and tree views. For watching the sunset, we'd go to Coco, so it didn't really matter. Room Location: The Tanjung Wing is quite a distance from the jetty/front desk/Shang Palace (Chinese restaurant). Although buggy bus service is available (by calling room service), during peak hours (12 PM / 3-4 PM), there are fewer buggies, leading to long waits, which is quite inconvenient. Once, I waited half an hour for a buggy from the jetty back to my room. Restaurants: The breakfast restaurant offered a good variety, but it didn't change much. After eating there four times, there were basically no variations, so it could get repetitive if staying for a long time. It was also very crowded during peak hours. We tried Shang Palace once; the food was delicious, but the air conditioning was very cold, so an extra layer of clothing is recommended. Coco offered afternoon tea as part of the executive lounge benefits; the food was decent, and the location was excellent for watching the sunset. Service: Overall, the service was quite good, with a few highlights. Firstly, executive rooms included a complimentary airport drop-off. Secondly, the hotel's jetty was very convenient for trips to nearby and distant islands, and they provided comprehensive gear (life jackets/snorkeling equipment/towels, etc.), which was a great experience. Thirdly, the lounge was excellent, available for use both before check-in and after check-out, which is very convenient for red-eye flights. Overall, I'd give the hotel an 85-90 out of 100. There's room for improvement, but in Kota Kinabalu, I don't think there are any better options. Chinese Service: When booking, I assumed many hotel staff would speak Chinese, but in reality, very few could communicate fluently in Chinese. So, if you don't speak any English, your stay experience will definitely be affected (e.g., when participating in water sports).

The location is super close to the ferry terminal. Downstairs, right across the street, there's a KFC, Starbucks, and 7-Eleven, which is really convenient. The front desk staff were very patient. The only drawback is that the room is a bit old-fashioned. However, the hotel's exterior looks upscale and grand.

The staff friendliness is just amzing 10/10. Excellent Service.Our room had amazing view of the sea and opposite resort called Gayana. Dinner: Only Buffet option is available and its about RM167/person +taxes. The spread are fairly good and it is delicious. Though they do have 2 more different Restaurant in the island,Japanese and fine dining. Breakfast: Included in the room price. Menu changes daily. I have nothing to complaint about the room,for us its comfortable.All rooms have exactly the dane Designs the only difference is where it is located. You are paying for the view. Activities: For me I think 3 days 2 nights are perfect to spend your time here, swimming by the pool,kayaking,snorkling,Jungle trekking, visiting the private beach. 1 hour complimentary use of snorklinh masks. I like the public guests showers and towel provided.Very convinient. One thing that I would like to comment is the boat fees are relatively very expansive.15 mins speedboat per person one way cost about Rm80+taxes..Just return trip cost RM170++ per person. This is not even including island conservation fees and tourist fees. All this added fees makes the Hotel cost more expansive. Because a boat trip to nearby or same Island cost only Rm40. GAYANA ECO RESORT provided inclusive/complimentary return boat fees. I hope the Management can improve this because we as Guests are going to spend more money on F&B and at the Bar. Last but not least I would like to compliment the service and staffs in thsi Resort I think they did such an amazing job. Overalö the Resort is beautiful andclose to the nature.

The location is excellent. Great value for money too. During my 6-night stay, I used breakfast once, and I was satisfied with the quality. From the window, you can see the port of Jezertun directly, and across the way is Suriasbahamol. It was nice that it was close to Filipino Market and Gayatri Street, and there was a convenience store and a bank. The room cleaning wasn’t done properly, so I mentioned it, and it was fixed immediately. I changed the shower filter every other day. Best value-for-money hotel. If I go to Kota Kinabalu again, I will use it once more. A little further on there’s a Dikingsaba durian shop, and it’s delicious.

Pros: - Friendly and helpful staff. - Compatible with shower filter use. - Facilities are a bit dated, but luxurious and clean. - Great value-for-money services (golf, tours, breakfast, laundry). - Thoughtful touches placed around the resort: bug spray, Tiger Balm, aloe vera, and drinking water. - Beautiful natural environment within the resort. - A wide variety of activities and programs (buggy tours, surfing, snorkeling, traditional dance shows, bird watching, horseback riding, etc.). Cons: - Far from the city center; it takes at least 30 to 50 minutes to get there. - Non-buffet restaurants are mediocre in terms of taste, service, and portion size relative to the price. - Ocean Wing >>> Garden Wing. Well worth the extra investment for better water quality and fewer issues with bugs and pest control. - There is a private beach, but it's not ideal for swimming or sunbathing. There is plastic litter in places and the seawater is murky. However, you can still have a wonderful vacation experience with a friendly crew at a reasonable price, so I would definitely visit again. I strongly recommend bringing a shower filter—I've included a photo of what the filter looked like after just one use.

Room filtered water has an unpleasant odor. Sutera Avenue lack of management maintenance, parking basement is dirty and dark, corridor amd lift also dirty.

I love the room! The power points are installed thoughtfully - for iron, laptop (under the table) and charging.  The check-in process can be made more effective. We were too tired after a long day of travel, and waited more than 10 minutes.  Gym is new and clean! Swimming pool is small and tricky to access.  The morning breakfast has the variety - the beef ball soup noodle and vege curry are nice. Dessert section can be improved.

For our Mid-Autumn family trip to Kota Kinabalu, we stayed at the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. Over a month in advance, I emailed the hotel requesting that our three rooms be on the same floor for convenience, as it was a family trip. I even received a confirmation email from the hotel. Upon arrival that morning, we checked in, only to be told one room was on a different floor. Tired and sleepy, we had to 'battle' it out. After much discussion, staff member A said they could arrange for all rooms to be on the same floor, so we went out since it wasn't check-in time yet. In the afternoon, we went to check in and encountered staff member B, who told us one room was still on a different floor and claimed that staff member A had said in the morning that it couldn't be coordinated. I beg your pardon? All four of us clearly heard the confirmation... We continued to press our case, and the final solution was that they would arrange for us to be on the same floor the next day and provide a complimentary happy hour at the executive lounge for one day. With no other options, we had to compromise. At that time, we also had staff member B pre-book the complimentary happy hour, and she said we just needed to go to the front desk that day, and a hotel staff member would take us to the 13th floor. We repeatedly confirmed that no other voucher was needed. On the agreed-upon evening, we went to the front desk and spoke to staff member C, who then told us they couldn't find our reservation record. We had to explain the whole situation again. Staff member C then contacted staff member B from that day, who confirmed the details. This whole process took another half hour... In summary, it feels like the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu's management is very disorganized, and their solutions are inconsistent. My advice, if you encounter a similar situation or have an important discussion, is: 1) Remember the staff member's name tag. 2) It's best to record the conversation on the spot. Despite being advertised as a Chinese-friendly hotel, we didn't encounter any staff members who spoke good Chinese. If your English isn't good, you wouldn't be able to properly assert your rights. Of course, there are positives: the sea view rooms indeed offer a fantastic view; there's an outdoor pool; breakfast is decent (if you don't have very high expectations, it's pretty good); and the bellhops in the lobby are relatively enthusiastic.

Had a pleasant stay here. The hospitality was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout my stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it easy to relax after a long day. The overall atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was up to expectations. Everything was handled smoothly from check-in to check-out. I truly enjoyed my stay and would be happy to return again in the future.
