As one of Suzhou's renowned hotels and an attraction in itself, the Pan Pacific Hotel has clearly put a lot of thought into its environment. It has created a beautiful Suzhou garden-style landscape based on the outlines of ancient Wu Kingdom architecture, making us feel like history isn't just a display, but that we're living inside a freshly painted ink wash painting.
Wooden planks form bridges in the corridors, bamboo paintings adorn the walls, and when the wind blows, it's as if you can hear the clear ringing of ancient Wu eave bells – not noisy, yet full of sound.
The in-house restaurant offers yellow croaker noodles, which are a bit pricey, but the fish is fresh and delicious, and worth trying with the small noodles and side dishes.
The only downsides: when I called, there was a wait without an answer, and the staff training regarding the management of guests' personal belongings in the rooms needs improvement.
I highly recommend visiting the hotel's architecture; it offers a concrete experience of Suzhou's ancient江南 (Jiangnan) charm.

For those seeking a quiet stay, here's some helpful information.
The overall ambiance of the Guesthouse is elegant and tranquil, with beautifully maintained gardens that create a very pleasant atmosphere. As someone who prioritizes peace and relaxation during my stays, I'd recommend Building 8 based on my overall experience.
However, the twin rooms in Building 8 directly face Qu Garden, and the announcement calls can be quite loud. I suggest the hotel address this. Currently, there's construction and renovation happening across the way, which causes significant noise disturbance, so choose with caution. For ultimate quietness, courtyard rooms or water view rooms are your best bet. Courtyard rooms are exceptionally peaceful and offer a very pleasant living experience. (Though, it largely depends on the behavior of your neighbors, as the soundproofing isn't great, leading to significant mutual disturbance).
I personally didn't care for the room style in Building 18. This building is right next to the road, its design isn't as comfortable as Building 8, and the street noise is very loud. The interior decor quality is also mediocre.
Inside the hotel, you can feed the swans, and there's also a sightseeing train and shuttle buggies for convenient transportation. Getting to Slender West Lake is very easy; you can take the scenic bus directly through a fast track. If you purchase tickets in advance on [platform name] or Dianping, you can enter directly from here, making travel hassle-free.
Overall, the hotel's environment is commendable, but the food quality is rather ordinary and didn't meet my expectations.

Stumbled upon this hotel, saw the price was good, so I booked it.
Only found out upon check-in that this is the tallest building in Wuxi. The subway station is right downstairs, and Xiao Lou Alley is just across the street. Getting around is super convenient.
The hotel's ground-floor entrance isn't very obvious; I walked around a bit before finding it and initially thought it was an office building lobby. I went in and asked, and that's when I learned the hotel's front desk is on the 43rd floor. Taking the express elevator made my ears pop a bit.
The room was great, the view was nice, and it was clean. The complimentary soft drinks from the minibar for Trip.com members and the welcome fruit from the hotel were a thoughtful touch.
I had read reviews mentioning poor soundproofing and was worried it might affect my sleep, but it turned out to be very quiet.
Check-out was also very fast; I just handed in the room card and left.
Overall, it was a very good experience. I'd definitely stay here again.

Location: This hotel is a landmark in Xuzhou, right in the city center. It's incredibly convenient for visiting the Confucius Temple and Pengcheng No. 1, and also close to the 1818 Night Market. You can even see these attractions from the hotel rooms. Getting to the subway station across the street requires a bit of a walk around to the traffic light, so we mostly took taxis, though you can also walk to Hubu Mountain and Huilongwo, exploring all the way to the museum and Yunlong Mountain.
Facilities: There's a swimming pool, but we didn't use it.
Cleanliness: Tidy.
Service: I was initially worried that the front desk being on the 42nd floor would be inconvenient, but there's a dedicated elevator to go up, so it didn't feel like an issue at all.

Centrally located in Xinjiekou, this hotel boasts an excellent location, making it convenient to get around and perfect for shopping! The service is incredibly attentive; Manager Fang from the VIP hotline provided professional and meticulous service with a warm and thoughtful demeanor. She was proactive and thorough throughout, always responding and following up on every detail. Before my stay, Ms. Fang noticed from my social media that I was traveling with a baby and thoughtfully left a message saying she would arrange for children's amenities. These small touches truly made me feel at home at Jinling Hotel, showcasing their high-quality service and leaving a lasting impression. The concierge was also very polite and helpful with luggage. Jinling Hotel will definitely be my top choice for future stays!
The Atour Hotel Nanjing South Railway Station is in a fantastic location, just a few minutes' walk from the South Station, making it incredibly convenient for catching trains. The rooms are clean and smart, equipped with Peet's coffee and a Dyson hairdryer. The 24-hour laundry room and gym are very practical. The service is warm and friendly, and it offers great value for money, making it a top choice for business travelers.

I stayed in Yangzhou for two nights, and my impression of the hotel and the city is quite similar: a mix of good and bad.
First, there was no welcome reception. The male front desk staff, even when there was no one checking in, didn't look up or greet me. It felt like he was waiting for me to approach him eagerly, without even a simple ”hello.” He didn't offer any information about the hotel facilities or guest benefits. I had to ask where the elevators were after checking in, and even then, his directions weren't clear. I even had to call the next morning to ask where breakfast was served, and the executive lounge was never even mentioned.
Furthermore, I had pre-booked dinner at Xiang Palace for 7:30 PM. I arrived at 7:25 PM, and a female receptionist sharply scolded me, saying, ”We called you three times, but you didn't answer.” I asked when they called, as I hadn't received any calls. She confidently replied, ”Seven o'clock. Because there was a table available then and you weren't here, it's gone now.” (So, my time is at her discretion?) She then told me to wait aside. Realizing what was happening, I immediately said, ”I'm not eating here.” When I provided feedback to the restaurant manager the next day, they gave me a dismissive ”heh-heh” smile and a cold shoulder throughout.
After returning to my room, I called the service center to express my strong dissatisfaction with the issues mentioned above. The person on the phone first apologized politely and enthusiastically, offering to compensate with dinner at Xiang Palace and re-explaining the hotel facilities. During this, they mentioned that complimentary travel photography was a guest benefit. This was my third point of frustration, because my Trip.com package didn't include travel photography, and since I was staying alone, I wouldn't be using the complimentary breakfast for two. So, before checking in, I tried to contact the hotel to ask if I could exchange it for other benefits, like lunch/dinner or travel photography. The hotel firmly refused at the time, stating that travel photography was a third-party service, not provided by the hotel. I had no issue with that, which is why I hadn't planned for travel photography or brought any makeup or clothes. And now you're telling me it's an inherent guest benefit?
Later, the hotel offered a room rate reduction, but it required me to cancel my Trip.com order and re-book, which I flat-out refused due to my annoyance. After this, the hotel surprisingly started giving me the cold shoulder, even to the point of not answering calls or replying to WeChat when I needed a paper bag before checking out. (This is why I decided to give less than three stars.) However, when checking out, the hotel offered to drive me to the station as I couldn't get a ride to catch my high-speed train.
Well, you can make your own judgment. Personally, I can't give a good review because I wasted half a day of my less-than-three-day trip. So, I'll give it a three-star rating, a mix of good and bad. (Deduction points: significant deduction for the front desk impression, and the female receptionist at Xiang Palace was an additional negative factor.)

I chose the Marriott this time and had a fantastic experience. Everything from the cleanliness, concierge service, front desk, to the dining was incredibly professional. The only hiccup was with the executive benefit of a 4 PM late checkout; the front desk called to rush me out by 2:30 PM, which wasn't a great experience. It suggests there might be some issues with handovers between shifts at the front desk. Overall, it's up to Marriott's usual high standards. As both a Marriott Bonvoy and Trip.com Diamond member, I highly recommend this hotel. (It's a million times better than the Marriotts I've stayed at in the US, ranking top-tier in both service and facilities!)

Choosing Andu Hotel for my trip to Suzhou was such a great decision! The location is fantastic, right near Guanqian Street and Shantang Street. Scholar Street, with all its amazing food, is just outside, and the subway station is a short walk away. The room was spotless, the bedding super soft, and the soundproofing was excellent – I slept like a baby. The front desk staff were really friendly and even gave us complimentary bottled water and drinks. The hotel has a really stylish design, perfect for photos. It's great value for money, and I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Suzhou!

I booked a suite for 2 nights at the Courtyard by Marriott the night before I came from Xi'an because I wanted to visit Niushoushan, Jinling Xiaocheng, and other tourist spots nearby. The location of the Courtyard is actually not bad; it's right beside the Hedingqiao metro station, and many food booths and convenience stores are just downstairs. You can buy takeaway at any time. The reception staff is nice and helpful and can speak very good English, no doubt. The worst was the concierge. One of the concierge staff has been playing on his cellphone every single moment. I took Didi or the metro at least 4 or 5 times every day. Every time I pass through the entrance, he is playing on his phone. The most frustrating part was when I ordered takeaway through the app. The delivery man said he placed it on the concierge cart right next to that guy, but someone took my package, and he didn't notice. YEAH, How could he possibly know if he was preoccupied with his phone ?!
This hotel is located just by the Pingjiang Street. When I have to enter a small alley to the lobby I was a bit sceptical but when I checked in the room, I was amazed by the coziness of the room, and the space is also big. My hotel faces the river so it offers a very good view. I will dedinitely come back again.

Excellent
Amazing hotel. The owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating! They upgraded us into a larger room as they felt the one we booked would be a bit too small for a family of four. The room was clean, the beds were very comfortable (firm beds which we love) and the bathroom was modern. The location is perfect: very quiet but close to busy areas. The hotel staff even helped us by doing laundry for us multiple times during our stay. The owner gave us multiple teas to bring home, which were all delicious. Our girls loved the dog in the lobby too. I would love to stay at this hotel again if I return back to Nanjing. We stayed at hotels in Beijing, Shenyang and Dalian and this hotel was much nicer than all of those hotels! Note: my wife is Chinese, so that definitely helped with communication, but I feel the staff would have made us feel comfortable even if we only spoke English.
We had an absolutely great experience here! When researching where to stay in Suzhou, Pan Pacific came up in most reviews, so we had high expectations and the experience completely lived up to them. We stayed for two nights and would love to return whenever we come back to Suzhou. It’s truly worth it. The property is grand and beautiful, just like in the photos, the room and amenities felt like a five-star hotel at an unbelievable price. In-house guests also get free access to the ancient Panmen Gate, which the area is directly connected from the hotel. The check-in process may take a little longer if arrive at the same time as groups, but all the staff were friendly and helpful. Not every one speaking fluent English, but they were all friendly. And shout out to lovely Concierge named Ivy 郑明泽, when we were trying to ask for help to buy the yoghurt drink as we couldn’t find in any places we went before, she was the one helping us by using her own mobile and even delivered us by the door herself 🥹
The hotel is located in the vicinity of Nanjing Agricultural University. The environment is good, the rooms are quiet and comfortable, the transportation is convenient, the facilities are better than many chain four-star hotels, and the breakfast is rich

It is relatively close to the East Railway Station. The hotel is high-end and hygienic. The breakfast is rich and delicious. You can book a car online to go to the scenic spot, and you don’t have to live near the scenic spot. Stayed for 2 days in a row and visited Slender West Lake, Geyuan, Dongguan Street, and Heyuan. I had morning tea and drank Yangda yogurt (free on the first night of the hotel).
Quaint little place tucked away next to Ping Jiang Road. A little way off the main road (Da ru Alley) for drop off, but the staff is sweet to move our luggages there for us on checking out. Rooms well furnished with everything we need and free snacks and drinks. Do give it a try.

What we liked: Spacious and nice room design. Separate bath and toilet. Toilet has automatic flush, seat cover is also provided. Lots of snacks and amenities provided. There are amenities at the front desk such as disposable bath cover, disposable floss, mask etc you can collect from front desk. You can also ask for warm bottled water. Responsive staff, can communicate your needs via WeChat, very convenient. There are 3 lifts, very convenient. Snacks and drinks are free. Bath robes, room and bath slippers are provided too. Awesome that we stayed on the same floor as the lobby, very convenient. Location is near metro, malls, shops, and attractions, very convenient. I like that there are bath robes and different types of towels provided. What we think can be improved: We thought the big bath was indoors and wouldn’t be so cold in the winter but it has two open windows and it gets quite cold when the wind blows. It takes about 1.5h to fill up about 60-70% of the tub and you need to tap every 30 minutes or so to keep the water flowing. Quite time consuming to get it ready for a bath. Housekeeping is inconsistent, the cleaner left a towel on the floor on one of the days, left a cup unwashed, took away our straws and left the sink cover by the sink instead. They have a centralised heating system so it can get quite hot but the staff offered us a fan and we opened the balcony door for wind to enter so it was comfortable to sleep at night. There was some drilling going on in the early morning around 9-10am, it was just opposite our room so it disrupted my sleep, would be better for them to schedule it during non-sleeping hours. When we were checking out, the staff at the counter shared about them getting audited and if we don’t give a five star review, they will get a fine, I had never heard of it from other hotels and found it quite strange. She was insistent on us doing it on the spot even though we have to catch a train, that was not pleasant. We just went ahead to rush for our train. Not much to watch on the TV unfortunately.
