The location is excellent, very close to Kunming Station, the pedestrian street, and Cuihu Park. The room is also spacious enough. The only downside is the excessive smoking in public areas; it's pervasive. For someone trying to work in a quiet spot, I had to move three times. There's a corner in the restaurant that I suspect is directly opposite the second-floor restroom. Every time someone flushes upstairs, it's incredibly loud, like dirty water is being splashed directly on you. Also, the Wi-Fi is too slow.

The location is fantastic, right downstairs on the pedestrian street, making it super convenient for food, drinks, and shopping. The decor is simple yet comfortable, and the amenities are great. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the breakfast spread is excellent. Both hotels I chose for this Yunnan trip were absolutely perfect. Highly recommended, it was a wonderful stay!

Since I was traveling solo, I booked a hostel, and this was hands down the best one I've stayed in. My experience, from start to finish, was top-notch. I'll cover the pros first, then the cons, which aren't deal-breakers.
**Facilities:** The common areas are well-equipped. Apart from the washbasins, everything else is separated by gender, and there are even ladies-only shower rooms. Outside, there's a terrace where you can enjoy coffee in the daytime, tea and sun in the afternoon, and in the evening, it turns into a chill spot where you can listen to people chat and take in the night view (Jinmafang is right downstairs). There were also some handsome foreign guys! Indoors, there's a pool table, and some evenings, guests even dance, creating a great atmosphere. I had a wonderful chat with a curly-haired lady! There's also a co-working space and books to read. My stay was too short this time, but I'd love to come back and experience the slow life here sometime.
**Cleanliness:** The cleaning auntie kept everything spotless. When I had an issue, she came to help me right away. Her Yunnan dialect was a bit hard to understand, but I could tell she was very enthusiastic. She'd come to clean the rooms around 11 AM daily, and the common areas were also impeccably clean.
**Service:** One of the staff members was particularly warm and friendly.
**Cons:** The pillow was too high and uncomfortable for sleeping. The door is very heavy, and many new guests don't realize they need to pull it shut gently, causing it to slam loudly, which can be disruptive at night. Also, some people forget to close the main door at night, allowing the sound from the 98 bar to drift in. I suggest putting up a sign reminding guests to close the door quietly after a certain hour at night.

We are Malaysian & can speak mandarin. Don’t worry if you’re non-chinese speaker, they will try their best to communicate with you.
Sonzhuju Coffee & Tea Holiday Villa is convenient for those who bring big luggage. They have a service to help carry your luggage too, from the main road (approx 170m). And please let them know once you arrived at the main road! The hotel is away from loud noise & busy from the main area. Cosy place & strategic for us staying in 3D2N. The room was clean. Breakfast included, but for Muslims, please mention that you’re Muslim, then they will prepare you veggie options. And you can choose to have your meal in your room or their eating area. Ai Fei, a local host from the hotel, was very helpful in arranging our customised tour trip. We texted the hotel via WeChat 8–9 days prior to our arrival in Lijiang. We asked if there was any local there who could advise us on the trip and straightaway they made a group for discussion. He'd make sure that we were all okay & happy to discuss our plan to visit any area that we would like to go to. He arranged our private car trip to JDSM & Blue Moon Valley and brought the ticket for us too. Upon we'd arrived at the hotel, he served us a welcome tea, fruit and flower cake. From the next morning we are going to JDSM & Blue Moon Valley. He advised us on what the do’s and don't prior to our trip. The private driver that he helped arrange for us was also very helpful & patient to ensure that we felt safe going to the place (group chat). He also helped to arrange a private car for us to Shangri-la. Overall, he made our plan and trip smoothly. As for the Muslims, you can ask him or the hotel host to recommend where the nearest Muslim restaurant they will definitely find for you. Overall, definitely recommend staying here. We are happy with our stay here.

Kunming. A long name. A great location for a five-diamond hotel 😊
-----Definitely a great choice, given it's a Ctrip 5-diamond hotel.
-----Four Points by Sheraton Kunming, City Center 🌈
👍1. Location. It's truly in the absolute center of Kunming. Downstairs is a pedestrian street, and the Golden Horse and Jade Rooster Archway is right next door (within a 5-minute walk). It's a paradise for food and snacks, with several local internet-famous spots (like roasted pancake, braised dishes, and Qiaoxiangyuan Rice Noodles).
❤️2. Service. Their service, from the front desk to housekeeping, is excellent. We booked different room types this time, and they specially upgraded our rooms to ensure we were all on the same floor. Thank you!
☕3. Breakfast. The hotel's breakfast offers a good variety, generally meeting our needs. There's still room for improvement.
👏4. On the third morning, some of our family members had to catch a train, and the hotel specially packed breakfast for us and left it at the front desk. Five-star service!
🙏5. We left some old clothes in the room that we didn't want, and the hotel specifically came to confirm whether we had forgotten them or if we intended to discard them. Very conscientious and responsible! 👏
👌6. The lobby is a bit small. The guest rooms seem to be on floors 23-28, offering fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding area. Truly excellent.
🤝Suggestion: The garment steamer provided releases steam very quickly once turned on, which could easily cause burns. I've already shared this feedback with the hotel.
Summary: The price is a bit high during peak season, but it's a worthwhile choice during off-peak season. If I had to give a score, I'd give it a 90.

The service is amazing, friendly, they upgrade our room and one of the room has smoke smell, but they quickly change the room for us.
The room are fine, standard, clean. Just for 2 night layover is good, value for money.
Location is really close to the kunming old town, easy acess to food and shopping.

Facilities: The facilities are comprehensive and the hotel is very family-friendly. Kids' amenities are already in the room, and you can request latex pillows for both children and adults, which makes sleeping much more comfortable.
Hygiene: The room was cleaned promptly every day and kept spotless. Even when I forgot to put out the 'please clean' sign, they called to ask if cleaning was needed. Contrary to my expectations, there weren't many mosquitoes, and I wasn't bitten at all, which is incredibly important.
Environment: It's a rainforest garden-style hotel with a shuttle service, or you can walk along the connecting corridor and enjoy the hotel's beautiful scenery.
Service: They proactively contacted me before my stay to introduce the hotel's family activities schedule. They also checked if I was satisfied with the hotel and the food. When my child got acute gastroenteritis from eating sorbet at the botanical garden, they thoughtfully brought over some noodles, which was very heartwarming. My child also found the stay very comfortable.
Got a free room upgrade booking through Trip.com and the room ambiance and facilities were wonderful. The staff speak enough English to get by for your basic needs. There is a small courtyard on the roof where you can eat breakfast, have complimentary tea and chat with other travelers or the staff, and get an amazing view of the nearby snow mountain. The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly, able to assist any of your travel needs and very open to making connections with travelers on a personal level, even after you're on your way to the next place.

Wonderful hotel at the top of the ancient town. Set around a lovely courtyard in a traditional style building, this is in the heart of beautiful Lijiang but away from the noise and relentless tourist throngs. The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are showing their age a little but everything works as it should. The best thing is the wonderful manager, Zhu Haifei, who welcomes you with endless tea and never stops helping with all sorts of advice and support.
He booked us a brilliant driver to visit Tiger Leaping Gorge and made our stay very special.
This hotel had been on my 'favorites' list for a while, so my expectations were quite high. After my stay, I'm a bit disappointed.
**Facilities:**
The hotel has a gym, kids' room, and entertainment room. The kids' room is quite basic and unsupervised. The entertainment room, with billiards and table tennis, is decent. The gym was empty, and the equipment was new; the changing rooms were excellent. The cocktails at the lobby bar were pretty average, but the live singer was good. The breakfast buffet had limited variety and the taste was just okay. The Chinese restaurant offers group deals, and the food was acceptable, but nothing special. Honestly, there aren't many good dining options nearby, so you're mostly stuck with the hotel's.
**Hygiene:**
The room environment was fine and quite spacious. Be careful with mosquitoes – don't leave the door open easily. When they provided children's toiletries, there was no mouthwash cup. I hope they can include one in the future, as glass cups are quite dangerous for kids.
**Environment:**
Overall, the hotel's environment is very comfortable and great for photos.
**Service:**
The service isn't quite up to par. Staff members aren't very enthusiastic when they see guests. The shuttle bus driver was great and very nice. Generally, the staff members I encountered weren't very friendly. For a hotel in this price range, I feel the service awareness is a bit lacking.
**Dongfengyun Characteristic Town Tickets & Sightseeing Car Tickets:**
This saved us some money, and the shuttle bus drops you right at the scenic spot entrance, which is very convenient.
**5 Digitally Retouched Travel Photos (requires advance booking):**
The photographer was very nice, and the photos were ready quickly. He also provided good 'emotional value' (meaning he was good at making us feel comfortable and happy during the shoot).

AAnonymous UserI recently stayed at this brand-new hotel (opened in 2024), and it was such a nice experience. If you want a place with lots of extras, this is it. They have two pool tables, a small rooftop pool, and two gyms—one for yoga and Pilates with all the equipment, and another with treadmills, bikes, free weights, and even a Smith machine. There’s also a laundry room with washers, which was really handy.
The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices, but you’ll want to arrive early to get the best selection. The staff were all very friendly, but Fei Xiu (绯袖) on WeChat was especially helpful—she answered all my questions quickly and made everything easy.
The location isn’t right on the riverbank near the Starlight Market, but it’s not far from tourist spots either. It’s actually in a good spot if you want a quieter stay while still being close enough to everything.
If you’re looking for a modern, well-equipped hotel with great service, I’d definitely recommend this one!

GGuest UserThe facilities are really complete, and they even have oxygen supply. I especially want to mention how pet-friendly they are – everyone loves dogs! We brought two dogs with us, and the owner's family also has a cute little dog. Plus, the owner and other staff are all very enthusiastic. The room was super clean; I'm very picky about accommodation, and this place truly exceeded my expectations.
MM21810****Choosing the Adaman Hotel by Mingyoo Li Cheng was absolutely the best decision I made for this Xishuangbanna trip. From the moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the corridors enveloped in tropical greenery, exuding an exotic vibe. Every snapshot I took turned into a stunning, atmospheric photo. The room was spacious and cozy, with smart controls throughout, making everything super convenient. The bedding was incredibly soft and skin-friendly, ensuring a wonderfully restful sleep every night.
The location is also fantastic – close to the airport, which makes getting around a breeze. Whether you want to escape the crowds for some peaceful time or explore Xishuangbanna's beautiful sights, this place is perfectly suited. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit to Xishuangbanna!

AAmiraShafiraI love this hotel so much. The hotel view is very great and the staff is very helping and friendly. Definitely will repeat. For the toilet very muslim friendly cause it has a bidet near the watercloset. It also serves free tea and orange. Very recommended.
WWanhe ZhangThis Banyan Tree property boasts an excellent environment, with architecture and decor that distinctly showcase Naxi ethnic characteristics. On clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain right from the hotel entrance.
I booked a Jacuzzi King Bed Villa. From the carpets to the wooden furniture, everything felt well-used but meticulously maintained. The bathroom fixtures were Toto and Hansgrohe, featuring smart toilet seats. The hot and cold water for the sink could be adjusted independently. The toiletries were Banyan Tree's own brand, and they were quite pleasant to use. The outdoor soaking tub is cleaned and refilled for each guest, with 24-hour heating, and you can choose whether or not to activate the hydro-massage function. Almost all the indoor and outdoor lighting was warm-toned, and the design of the spotlights and light strips was very well thought out, creating a lovely ambiance in the evening.
The service was outstanding. From check-in to check-out, every staff member I encountered was incredibly polite, greeting guests with genuine warmth and sincerity! A dedicated front desk butler even called me the day before check-in and added me on WeChat to coordinate details. Any requests could be handled directly via WeChat, and the efficiency was truly impressive – a real standout! Amenities and fresh fruit were replenished and changed daily, and the daily cleaning was exceptionally thorough. The turn-down service was excellent. During my three-day stay, I received a complimentary Banyan Tree little turtle and a traditional ornament.
The buffet breakfast offered a good variety of dishes, and everything was very fresh – no complaints there. The food at the White Cloud Chinese Restaurant was excellent, with a very traditional flavor. The ingredients, cooking, service, and ambiance were all great, though the prices were a little on the higher side, but the portions were generous. I recommend the Stir-fried Water Hyacinth, Sautéed ******* Pork with Herbs, Stewed Spare Ribs with Mixed Vegetables, and the Shangri-La Yak Hot Pot.
The spa was fantastic! The Banyan Tree Gallery here is also worth a visit, featuring many works created in collaboration with local artisans, as well as some pieces from the Baisha Embroidery Art Institute available for sale.
Most of the hotel staff are locals from Lijiang, and the entire hotel does an excellent job of incorporating local culture. I look forward to returning to Banyan Tree Lijiang for another vacation when I have the chance.
Many thanks to all the hotel staff for their incredibly warm service!
GGuest UserEnvironment: The hotel has a courtyard and is near Baisha Ancient Town. You can see the snow-capped mountains right outside, which is beautiful.
Facilities: The room was spacious and very clean.
Service: Excellent! They called ahead to confirm our arrival, and the mini-bar was complimentary. We also received free fruit and drinks.
Yun Du Exquisite Double Afternoon Tea: We arrived in the evening so we didn't get to experience it, which is a bit of a shame. It looked good from other guests' review photos.
Cleanliness: Clean.
Great value for money! I highly recommend it, especially being close to Baisha Ancient Town. You can explore Baisha Ancient Town one day and then Jade Dragon Snow Mountain the next. The location is excellent.
We drove here, and parking was free.
Upon check-out, they even gave us a souvenir fridge magnet. I would definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Yunnan.
P.S. There's also the lovely Sanjin! Very therapeutic!
AAnonymous UserHotel is located within the Napa Hai area. Very pretty scenery around and relatively quiet. Not much to do around the area. More suitable to just relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Hotel ground is relatively large. Just started operating last year so everything is still new. They are still renovating the outdoor areas so it’s not the best right now.
You are able to feed the inhouse sheeps by requesting corn from the reception. Can even explore beyond the hotel grounds to see the other animals grazing.
All service staff are very friendly and attentive. We will consider returning to this hotel if we ever come back to Shangrila.
Distance to Dukezong is only ~20 mins
And to the train station is only 15 mins. Booking Didi is not issue to and fro from the hotel.
GGuest UserAlthough Xi Shuang Ban Na UrCove claims they are a smoke-free hotel, from what I have seen this is not really true. I suggest People who are allergic to cigarette smoke or have health issues related to cigarette smoke definitely go somewhere else. I saw guests as well as hotel employees openly smoking in the front lobby of this hotel. Front desk clerks and supervisor saw this but not only said nothing to the offenders but when I complained about this, the front desk clerk ignored me and glared at me for complaining.
Bedroom: very spacious and clean. beddings and sheets were very clean and comfortable.
Toilet: was a very new style and with a temperature toilet seat
Shower area: It was a disaster. The glass panel dividing the toilet and the shower area was poorly installed, so water from the shower area leaked everywhere. It was quite dangerous because the floor outside the shower was a smooth piece of floor tile. My wife almost slipped and fell down. We immediately told the front desk that night, and all they did was send someone to wipe up the water that's all. There was no follow-up after that.
Breakfast: This has got to be the worst hotel I have ever been to regarding breakfast. The majority of the breakfast items were Chinese food which I have no complaints about, although I do not eat Chinese breakfast. The biggest problem was, when we went for breakfast after 9:15 am there were lots of emptied food containers and plates which was used to hold breakfast food items. Breakfast was supposed to end at 10:00 am. 9:15 am NO croissant, Not even a simple slice of bread which I can make toast with. I also checked the Chinese food items and lots of containers were emptied as well. I then went to ask a staff where I could at least get a piece of bread. Her answer was, there isn't anymore sliced bread and what you see is what you get. There was hardly anything to eat?!?!?! I was furious and I demanded to have a couple of pieces of sliced bread. In the end, kitchen staff Mr. Wang came to my rescue and cooked me and my wife each two fried eggs. On top of it, Mr. Wang went out to get me sliced bread from outside the hotel so that my wife will at least have something to eat for breakfast. On the second day of breakfast, there was no coffee after 9:15 am as the coffee machine went into cleaning mode for at least half an hour. The chief of Chef did end up helping me to get a cup of coffee but from what I can see, this hotel is NOT ready to receive international guests.
Totally disappointed in the Urcove Xi Shuang Ban Na. Totally not the Hyatt standard at all. I really believe Hyatt management in Texas really should not take the risk of damaging their great brand by letting this hotel be branded with Hyatt's Name. The way this Xi Shuang Ban Na Urcove is operating, they are worse than locally managed/owned hotels.
OOlive GohWhen I started planning our itinerary for our 15 day Yunnan holiday, I plotted out our path to go all the way up to Shangri-la, back down to Kunming and then to Jiaozi Snow Mountain and Dongchuan Red Land. Then I chanced upon a video of Aini Garden and fell in love! The only reason we came to Pu'er was to get to Aini. This was the first place I booked, and I really took a chance because it has a no cancellation policy and I really had to stick to the date once it was made.
The initial pre-arrival experience was less than pleasant. I didn't know how we were going to get to the manor and my WeChat messages went unanswered. The hotel we stayed at in Pu'er finally got in touch with someone and got them to message me. I asked how we could get there and the answer was a curt ”take a taxi or charter a car”. No pleasantries of ”we look forward to seeing you” or offering to arrange a car.
When we arrived, no one was at reception and no one came out. Our driver was so perplexed he wondered if we were in the right place and if the place was open. Finally a young girl came out and registered us in. There was an air of aloofness from everyone else. However, once we were checked in, things warmed up quickly. We were offered coffee and freshly cut papaya and had a nice introduction chat with the lady staff.
The bedroom and bathroom is well appointed, spacious and comfortable. We would have enjoyed sitting on the balcony if the chairs were more comfortable. I love the floor to ceiling glass windows but the panel above the door should also be glass (it is just netting) so traffic sounds from the road actually comes through at night. I actually wanted to book the cottage in the hills but opted for the standard room in the main house because I was worried it would be cold. Big regret as it is actually magnificently located with stunning views. However take note that you will need to call for a buggy ride or make a 1km hike every time you want to eat or get to the main house. If you are self driving, no issues as you can park right next to the cottage. Anyway it's a small price to pay for an unlimited view of the milky way and seclusion.
This is as close to a Ryokan experience as you can get in China, minus the hot springs. 3 days 2 nights of blissful, carefree living is not quite enough. They make sure they feed you well, with the freshest produce available for hotpot dinner and home-cooked Yunnanese dishes for lunch. There are so many activities organised, from taking you up the mountain for a glimpse of sunrise (with mountain goats for company ❤️) to coffee plantation education tour to horseback riding along the mountain ridges (the view is spectacular!) to scavenging for wild vegetables and fruits to drinking, dancing and singing around the campfire! So much to do, so little time!
One area of improvement I personally would like to see is the coffee serving. They tend to be quite snobbish about how their coffee is taken. Neat, with nothing else. Asking for sugar or milk feels nearly scorned upon. Coffee is a versatile drink and can be savoured in a huge variety of ways. How else is Starbucks so successful? I felt kind of stifled and deprived because I love a good latte and had looked forward to enjoying an unlimited indulgence of coffee throughout our stay.
Anyhow, I love the ecotourism efforts here. It feels natural and unpretentious. I love the people and the camaraderie they cultivate. I especially enjoyed talking to their consultant 敬梅, a beautiful lady with extensive knowledge in Yunnan culture and ecological progress. Also thank you to 徐芳 for arranging transport back to town and giving helpful recommendations. We hope to return again.
GGuest UserI had an absolutely incredible stay here, it was easily the best hotel experience I've ever had. From the moment we arrived, we received such a warm and genuine welcome from the host and his family, making us feel right at home immediately. Our bedroom was impressively spacious and kept perfectly clean throughout our visit. The highlight, however, was the spectacular view; waking up to a panoramic vista of both the city and the lake was truly unforgettable. What really set this place apart was the exceptional hospitality. The host took care of us from the beginning until the very end of our stay, going above and beyond by even personally taking us to the bus stop when it was time to leave. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! Thank you, Mr Ma, for your hospitality.
