Songzhuju is one of the nicest homestay I've stayed in. 1. Butler Ah Fei and all staff are very welcoming and friendly. Ah Fei contacted me in advance to arrange pick up and itinerary. He's also the go-to guy for purchase of authentic tea and local produce. 2. Superior location The homestay is situated about 100m from north gate. Considered easy to find but I would still recommend the pick up service as the town is such a maze. It takes around 30mins by car from Lijiang Railway to the ancient town. Restaurants, cafes and shops are everywhere. 3. Spacious and cosy room Room was clean, full amenities like bathrobe, slippers, kettle, shampoo, conditioner etc all provided There are endless options of homestays to choose from but Songzhuju stands out for being so homely and such kind of personal service is really rare. After 3 days of stay, i cannot pinpoint a single negative aspect at all. Would return for sure and highly recommend to all travellers! . Bed and pillows quite comfortable. Breakfast provided from 8am. Laundry room available.

Absolutely loved this hotel room! The river view room offered a stunning panorama of the Mekong River and the Starlight Night Market. The front desk staff, especially the ladies, were incredibly helpful and accommodating, always greeting me warmly and recommending local specialties and attractions. The hotel's location is fantastic, with the Starlight Night Market just a short walk away. The room itself was clean, tidy, and comfortable. They even provided complimentary Dai ethnic costumes for guests to take beautiful photos, and the bathroom amenities included makeup remover, facial cleanser, and body lotion for free use. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Xishuangbanna!

The hotel is conveniently located among many of the city’s most popular attractions, making it easy to explore the area on foot. Although the staff were not very talkative, they were incredibly helpful and always willing to assist us whenever needed. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. We especially loved the traditional architecture, which added a unique charm to our stay and made the experience feel much more authentic. Definitely worth trying if you’d like to experience a classic local-style accommodation.

I have to say, this hotel was the most satisfying part of my Lijiang trip. The hotel environment and rooms were excellent, especially the service. Due to an issue with the air conditioning, the room temperature was very high. When I called the front desk at night, the night manager immediately showed me other rooms, but it was too late to switch at that moment. To my surprise, the next day, while we were out touring, the duty manager called me to upgrade us to a Deluxe Executive Suite. It was such a pleasant surprise! The staff were also incredibly helpful and promptly addressed any issues we had. It was truly a delightful trip, and I'll definitely be back.

Our stay at Shangri-La was truly unforgettable and exceeded all expectations! Before sharing details about our stay, we would like to give special recognition to several team members whose outstanding service made such a positive impact on our experience: 麦克, 小钢, Alan, 小罗, and 小雨. Each of them demonstrated exceptional professionalism, kindness, attentiveness, and genuine care. We are writing this review in large part because we hope management is aware of their incredible efforts, as they truly represent the very best of the hotel’s hospitality. Even before we arrived, the team created a WeChat group and warmly welcomed us, making us feel cared for from the very beginning. The service throughout our stay was exceptional. Upon arrival, the staff helped carry our very heavy luggage to our room and consistently went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying our time at the hotel. After check-in, 麦克 gave us a detailed tour of the room and thoughtfully explained how to use the oxygen supply, which immediately put us at ease. He was also incredibly helpful in recommending places to visit and things to do in the area. His advice, including reminding us not to shower on our first night due to the high altitude, helped us acclimatize comfortably and avoid altitude-related discomfort. We also had the opportunity to make flower candles during our stay, which was a wonderful experience. A special thank you to 小钢, who patiently guided us through the activity and even carefully packed our finished candles so beautifully that all we had to do was pick them up and bring them home the next day. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a wonderful example of the attention to detail that made our stay so special. One of the highlights was the beautiful property and the adorable animals on-site. Alan even took the time to cut fresh carrots for us to feed the goats, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the experience even more enjoyable. The hospitality never stopped, no matter how late it was. We returned to the hotel around 11pm one evening after a long day of exploring, and 麦克 prepared comforting hot dessert soup for us (despite it being past the time for dessert soup). It was exactly what we needed and such a memorable gesture that made us feel truly cared for. Another moment that stood out was late one night when we realized we needed extra towels and pillows. 小罗 responded quickly and kindly helped us get everything we needed despite the late hour. His willingness to assist us so promptly made us feel incredibly well looked after and was yet another example of the outstanding service we experienced throughout our stay. We were also especially grateful to 小雨 for helping us navigate a Taobao return during our stay, which could have been quite complicated without her assistance. Several other staff members also kindly helped with collecting my package. Their teamwork and willingness to assist with something beyond the usual scope of hotel services truly impressed us. As our trip came to an end, Alan kindly drove us to the train station early in the morning and gave us a warm send-off. It was the perfect ending to an already wonderful stay and reflected the genuine care and hospitality we experienced throughout our time at the hotel. The warmth, attentiveness, and sincerity shown by every member of the team made our experience in Shangri-La truly wonderful. Every interaction reflected a level of hospitality that is increasingly rare to find, and their genuine care played a significant role in making this trip so memorable. We are incredibly grateful for the experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Shangri-La. We will definitely be back!

Excellent Stay in the Heart of Kunming I stayed at Atour Hotel Kunming (Nanping Pedestrian Street Old Street) for one night on 1 June 2025, and it was easily one of the best hotel stays I’ve had in Kunming. The hotel appears to have been recently renovated, giving it a fresh, modern, and stylish feel throughout. We booked a Superior Queen Room, which was exceptionally spacious and thoughtfully designed. The room was well-equipped with all the amenities you would need for a comfortable stay. The standout feature was undoubtedly the bedding. The mattress and pillows were incredibly comfortable and supportive—we slept so well that we nearly missed breakfast the next morning. The bathroom amenities were excellent, and the heated toilet seat was a particularly nice touch, especially considering how uncomfortable cold toilet seats can be. The only thing missing was a bidet, which would have made the experience a perfect 5/5. Another feature I appreciated was the hotel’s robot delivery service. Food deliveries are received at the lobby and then sent directly to your room by robot, which was both convenient and fun. The lobby and breakfast restaurant are located on Level 7, which also houses a well-equipped gym and complimentary self-service laundry facilities—great additions for both short and extended stays. Location-wise, the hotel is hard to beat. Situated right in the heart of Kunming’s city centre, surrounded by local streets, markets, shopping malls, and plenty of dining options, making it an excellent base for exploring the city. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its comfort, facilities, service, and unbeatable location. I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next visit to Kunming.

I first heard about this place on Instagram and thought it was so beautiful. Its incredible structure is just as gorgeous when you see it in person. The staff were very accommodating and attentive. It was so cool because they had a machine that translates different languages depending on what you speak. This was the first time I’d ever seen anything like it and found it very helpful as I don’t speak Mandarin. Breakfast isn’t included but you can purchase their set meals for 37 yuan and have it while looking out at the beautiful courtyard. If you need train station transfer, you can easily ask for it for 80 yuan per way which made my check in and check out process smooth. They also allow you to try on their cultural costumes for free. If you need hair, makeup and photography services than it’s 499 yuan. As a solo traveler, I decided to try it out. They were very nice, however I definitely struggled with the very white makeup since I myself am very tanned. In their defense they did their best with trying to give me something darker and in the makeup room it seemed fine. But with the different lighting outside and the camera flash, when I got my pictures back I basically had a ghost face 😞 The foundation also wasn’t applied to my neck and arms, so it was very apparent. I’ve asked the photographer to help standardize my skin so hopefully that helps whenever it’s done. You receive a total of 9 retouches photos as part of the package. However, if you prefer to do your own makeup or are traveling with others then they can take pictures for you instead. The place is very convenient for finding restaurants and if you’re primary goal is the visit the old town. It’s very close by, so I was able to explore easily and then return to the hotel for breaks when needed. Lastly, you can use their laundry machines and get laundry pellets for free. Ideally this is great. But I will say the drying part is dreadful. The instructions say to do the 2/3 rule. However, even when I followed and put a small batch of clothes in it never dried. I tried once for 1.5 hours, then again for another hour, and still nothing. That was probably the only real part that was frustrating.

This hotel is the biggest surprise of this trip to West Lu. , The hotel has a parking lot, the front desk service is warm and responsive. , The hotel is decorated in style, the garden is very beautiful, there is an outdoor tea space and a coffee bar on the roof terrace. It feels like you can spend most of the day in the hotel. , The room is large, the bathroom, dry and wet separation. The bedding is comfortable, the whole house is intelligently controlled, the bath water can also adjust the temperature, and the water volume is also very large. , There is also a gym and laundry room in the public area. , The overall feeling is bigger than the B&B in Mangshi the previous two days, and the software facilities are better than the Atour in Ruili. The only small shortcoming is that there is no small trash can on the sink, and it is not convenient to throw garbage such as face towels or toiletries packaging. For a neat star, I am not used to throwing the countertop casually, and I can throw it around the bathroom trash can. It is recommended to improve it and it will be perfect.

I had a wonderfully satisfying stay at the InterContinental Xishuangbanna this time, so I absolutely must write a detailed review. First and foremost, I have to give a huge shout-out to my butler. They were incredibly responsible from before check-in until departure, responded quickly to all my questions, and even thoughtfully helped arrange our room. What was even more surprising was that the hotel upgraded our room type for free, giving us much more spacious accommodations and doubling our comfort. The hotel's facilities and activities are incredibly rich, ensuring you'll never be bored whether you're traveling with kids or by yourself. There's a tropical garden, swimming pools, parent-child handicrafts, rice paddy transplanting experiences, and so much more – you could spend an entire day inside the hotel and still not experience everything. The overall living experience was fantastic: comfortable bedding, a quiet environment, and we even tried the distinctive Peacock Feast. What was most heartwarming was that upon check-out, the hotel thoughtfully prepared a souvenir gift, which was very memorable. All in all, whether it's the service, environment, or value for money, this place is highly recommended. I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Xishuangbanna!

This hotel offers excellent value for money, with the shuttle service to and from the airport being its absolute highlight. The surrounding environment is quite good, and since most guests here are catching flights, convenience, punctuality, comfort, and good value are likely their top priorities. This hotel excels in all these aspects, leaving nothing to complain about. I have four suggestions: 1. Water overflows from the bathroom after showering; it needs a complete renovation. 2. The shower area should have a non-slip mat and warning signs. 3. Reusing plastic slippers and promoting eco-friendly slippers should be reconsidered due to hygiene concerns and the current limited adoption of the 'green hotel' initiative. 4. For the shared elevators, perhaps a 'quiet mode' prompt or softer chimes could be considered? Overall, it's a pretty good hotel.
