This hotel is considered an older, established 4-star property in the old town, and some of the facilities are a bit dated; I hope they can be updated. The hotel breakfast is excellent, with a good variety and local specialties, though I wish they'd improve the drink quality. My room was old, the AC was leaking, and the ceiling was visibly peeling. Lin at the front desk, who speaks Chinese, provided exceptional service, while others were just average. We arrived on New Year's Eve without a reservation for the buffet dinner, but Lin communicated with the restaurant and managed to get us an extra table so we could enjoy our New Year's Eve meal. However, the 188 MYR price didn't match the quality; if this were in China, it probably wouldn't last a month. The salmon was cut into small strips, and the plate was empty quickly—looks like it's the same everywhere, haha. Ninety percent of the diners were local Chinese. The hotel is located in the old town, about a 15-minute walk to the mural street, and not far from Little India and the Peranakan Museum. There's a hawker center downstairs, but it was closed for the New Year. Overall, the hotel is good, and the location is quiet yet central.
Had a great stay here! Easily access to the mall nearby and tourist attractions. Clean room with modern concept. Will stay here for my next visit to penang :)
The hotel is quite large and very close to the airport, a Grab taxi ride cost less than 10 MYR. The room cleanliness and facilities were average. However, the breakfast was good, and the service was excellent and very welcoming. The hotel has a swimming pool, and there are many convenient dining options nearby. Grab transportation also worked very well.
Good stay at Jazz Hotel Penang 👍
Really satisfied with my trip here. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a bathtub and even a complimentary bath bomb which made the stay extra relaxing. Love the rooftop pool and the overall modern vibe.
Location is convenient — walking distance to Straits Quay and easy access to Gurney area for food. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
Overall a pleasant experience, will definitely come back again!
A superb Hotel at Gurney Bay area with the New Park right across the road which is a very nice park to walk around and enjoy the sea view. Nice clean hotel with an all day restaurant that serves various types of food.
Thank you to all the nice people to give us a nice place to visit regularly.
The hotel is located in the heart of George Town, right next to a large shopping mall. While there wasn't much to buy, it's conveniently close to the main city attractions, all within walking distance. I arrived at the hotel around 9 AM on an early flight from the airport, which took about 30 minutes. Luckily, there was a room available at check-in, and I was able to get an early check-in. The hotel shows its age a bit, with some older room facilities, but everything was functional. The breakfast was quite rich, and the lady at the noodle station was particularly enthusiastic. She eagerly introduced the daily specials and even mentioned that I wouldn't get to taste that specific flavor the next day! Overall, the hotel offers good value for money.
The hotel facilities and environment are quite good, and the public areas are well-maintained. It's right on the beach, and close to dining options and beach performances, so the location is excellent. The hotel breakfast is also very rich, and the public areas are spacious enough. Overall, it feels good, although check-in took a bit long. Also, with more Chinese guests, it can get a bit noisy, and if your room is near the mosque, it can be a little loud.
The hotel claims to be renovated, but it doesn't feel particularly new. The location is decent, very close to the Blue Mansion, but a bit far from the Street Art. The service was excellent; the staff were all very friendly and patiently explained things to us. Luggage storage is available. The best part is the amazing sea view right outside the room, with beautiful blue skies and white clouds.
The deluxe suite was big and comfortable. Only downside was the sofa bed in the living area - not comfortable to sit on as the cushion had thinned out and you could feel the steel bars when sitting on it. We did not use it for sleeping as there were only two of us. I can't imagine that it will be comfortable for sleeping. The guy at the reception told us that they were gradually replacing the worn sofa beds in the suites. So that's good news, but why gradually (?). As the hotel is slightly off the main road, there's not much noise from the traffic, good for light sleepers.
The hotel environment is comfortable and quiet, overall clean and tidy, and the rooms are well-maintained, making for a very relaxing stay. The staff are friendly, and both check-in and check-out processes were smooth. The location is convenient; you can walk to Kek Lok Si Temple, which is great for visiting and taking photos. There are also many affordable snack options nearby, and transportation is very accessible, making it suitable for both short stays and longer trips. Overall, the stay was very satisfying.

RRayTFirst of all the hotel rented out the rooms for individual operator.
So there will be different check in counter.
Upon check in, been told that the room card not functioning as they are doing upgrading, so every time u come back will need to call the house keeping to unlock the door.
Most importantly they charge RM 17 per night for car parking. So a lot of car parking outside which make the entrance a bit difficult
GGuest UserA bit far from Batu Ferringhi and Teluk Bahang, where the kids love to play, but very close to the core area of Penang. Suitable for young adults and seniors.
Breakfast was pretty good, and the kids absolutely loved the pool. It's not far from central Penang, so shopping and dining are convenient. The melodious call to prayer from the mosque outside lulled us to sleep.
Cons: The air conditioning in the lobby was too cold. You could see the distant Penang Bridge, but where was the bay view? :)

AAnonymous UserVery good location. Clean rooms. Right in the middle of Georgetown. Easy to find local foods. Just step out the hotel can easily get yummy local foods like char kuay tiaw, laksa, thai foods, noodle soups, dim sum and durian. Indian Curry Fish Head at Pelita Restaurant. Close to Gamma supermarket where you can find cheap stuffs. And walking distant to famous charwastta market. We will definitely come back to stay at this hotel if we return to Penang.
00xknsWe had a fantastic stay at Loop on Leith during our family trip to Penang. Traveling with a young child can be tricky, but this hotel made it easy. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring George Town on foot, as we were just a short walk away from the famous street art and the best hawker food on Chulia Street. The room was modern, incredibly clean, and surprisingly quiet at night, which was essential for our kid’s sleep. We loved the industrial-chic design and found the staff to be very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Even though the rooms in this heritage area can be cozy, the layout was efficient and didn't feel cramped for us. It is a stylish, high-value gem in a prime location, and we would definitely choose to stay here again.
XXiaotuzijiadexiaopangmiaoFacilities: The hotel has complete facilities, everything you need is there.
Hygiene: The hygiene is good, no obvious oversights.
Environment: Facing the Strait of Malacca.
Service: They helped with our luggage.
As an antique hotel, its value for money is truly excellent. You can stay for just over 1000 [currency unit]. Online, the Heritage Wing is more recommended, but because of its age, we chose the newer Victory Annexe. Before checking in, I saw some online reviews and was a bit worried, but after experiencing it firsthand, I found it to be quite good. First, upon arrival, the staff at the entrance were very attentive. When our car pulled up, they helped with our luggage, and the luggage was even delivered to our room. When checking in, there was a Chinese-speaking person at the front desk, but it seemed most could only speak English. However, simple English was fine, and they also used gestures, making the process very smooth. The room assignment was also quick. After checking in, the hotel balcony faced the sea. This hotel is quite popular, with all kinds of nationalities, but there was no obvious favoritism towards Caucasians or discrimination against Chinese. Perhaps because I'm someone with strong boundaries, every staff member I encountered smiled and nodded in greeting, which even made me feel a bit shy; there was no coldness. The hotel's location is excellent, very close to the Blue Mansion. You can go for a city walk when you step out – still highly recommended!
GGuest UserThis hotel is quite a distance from the city center, even further than the Shangri-La by a few kilometers, located on the beach. There are no convenient facilities nearby, so you'll need to take a taxi to get around. However, a 2km taxi ride will take you to Dadong Seafood Restaurant. All the hotel rooms face west, offering sunset views. The gym is small and lacks equipment. There are two pools, but they are quite shallow. Housekeeping cleans twice a day, but I still noticed some stains on the bed linen. There were also small ants, which is to be expected in a beachfront hotel. During peak breakfast hours, you might have to wait. If you're looking for a quiet escape in Penang, this is the place. At least it's relatively new and offers decent value for money. During the Chinese New Year, they even had fireworks and a weekly 'iron flower' performance. It really made a great impression.
GGuest UserFive stars all around! Big shout-out to the friendly front desk staff. I was torn between JEN Hotel and Wembley, but ultimately chose Wembley because I saw reviews mentioning early check-in, which was a huge draw for me. It's also Chinese-friendly, and the front desk staff can communicate in Chinese. Even though rooms were very tight during Chinese New Year, the hotel still allowed me to check in quite a bit earlier. This gave me a precious three-hour nap, helping me avoid the hottest part of the day and making my first day of sightseeing rich and energetic. Wembley and JEN are just across the street from each other, but Wembley is on higher floors, offering a more expansive view. It's only about 700-800 meters to both Mural Street and the Clan Jetties. There are also plenty of shopping and food courts nearby. The hotel itself is well-maintained, and soundproofing is decent. My only minor complaint: For two adults and one child, we requested an extra comforter, but they brought a blanket instead. Using just a blanket requires quite some courage!
