Regular visitor to Penang, about 5 times per year.  First time staying in this hotel and I must say it is the best in terms of location, especially for foodie like me. Yummy is everywhere once I step out of this hotel. Only downside, there is no bedside power point to pluck in to charge my phone. So every time a notification tone comes in, I gotta get out of bed to go check on it. Other than that, all is excellent. Attach a couple of photos on the most popular food just along the street outside the hotel.

Room is clean though toilet slightly a bit small. One thing that not good is the sound insulation is quite bad. Can hear sound travel as next door room make some noise. Can be annoying if the next door room make continuous sound. Location in the heart of Georgetown where can walk anywhere to all the sightseeing place.

honest review from a budget conscious traveller: no frills hotel in superb location with helpful staff at a reasonable price point. I stayed in a magenta room for 4 nights with no big issues. the room is not big for 2 persons, but sufficient for rest every night, and to open 2 cabin sized lugagge comfortably. the toilet is spacious enough as well. cleanliness could be improved. the shower area could do with deeper cleaning in the corners, and the sheets some tiny stains (negligible though). the sofa also has some stains. if you are particular about cleanliness, perhaps looks elsewhere. the bed is reasonably comfortable, pillows are on the softer side. there is one bedside table with the telephone on it, and another small table that can be used at the sofa or at the bed. if you want more spacious table, the lobby has many tables you can use. windowsill seats are also available with charging outlets, making for a good workspace if you need. toiletries were refilled everyday, as basic as amenities go. the towels were on the thinner side and there were no hand towels so take note, if you want to bring a small disposable one for your stay. hotel staff was easy to talk to and ready to help whenever I asked. one time, I ordered grabfood in a hurry and forgot to ask for cutlery. thankfully, the front desk staff found some disposable spoons for me. genuine lifesaver. however, on one of the days, we wanted to rest in the afternoon and asked for our room to be cleaned earlier. the hotel seems to be understaffed and cleaning takes some time. we called at 3pm and was told the staff will come clean our room. there was no sign of anyone even until 4pm, at which point we called in again to remind them of our request. it took 30 more minutes and 2 more reminders, one of which was in person at the front desk, before the cleaning lady showed up around 430pm (after 4 calls). at this point, we were going out shortly after, and we felt robbed of afternoon rest. take note of this if you will be bothered by the cleaning time. we did come back on one day to see the cleaning staff in our aisle close to 6pm! it is likely they are understaffed. we also did not get an extra toilet roll on the last day, which was unnecessary effort to ensure we would have sufficient toilet paper until checkout, since we were exhausted from a day of exploring and did not want to go and ask for toilet paper. this incident aside, we had an alright stay and would recommend this place to budget conscious travellers who are looking for a value stay. the location is really unbeatable, being walking distance to most places under 15minutes. with so much food to eat in penang, a post meal walk back to the hotel is always welcome other notes: there is a self service laundry just next to the hotel, and a 24h convenience store just across the street. 7 eleven is around 5min walk away. atm that accepts internationals cards are available if you want to withdraw money, but these do charge a fee. fee free atm would be farther away. the hotel is also next to a mosque so we can hear prayers now and then, and early on Friday.

Fast check in process by Mr Saran. Easy parking access (no need to take any parking ticket. Receptionist will register your car plate number and you can enter and out from parking lot how many time you want). Requested birthday decorations and im so happy when i saw the decoration. It was so amazing! And we get small cake too! Thanks St Giles Wembley Penang for this hospitality! Booked Premier King room. I was impressed by the cleanliness and comfort room. The room was spacious. The bed was comfortable just the pillow is a bit hard for me. Nice view from the room. Quiet room. Breakfast 9/10. Many varieties of food. Delicious! Especially the taufufa. I repeat 3 times 😊. Gym is pretty nice and had adequate equipment. Pool view is Komtar 💜 Great location. Walking distance to 1st Avenue Mall, and most places. Hope this hotel will maintain the services, and cleanliness for long time. Will certainly return to St Giles Wembley Hotel on my next visit to Penang.

The hotel looks a little old, but everything is really well maintained and clean. The facilities are great, especially the gym. It’s fully equipped with dumbbells, barbells and all kinds of machines for different workouts. There’s also a sauna, steam room and hot and cold jacuzzis, all in good working condition. The location is perfect, right along Gurney Drive. Get a sea view room if you can because the view is amazing whether it’s sunrise or sunset. It’s also super convenient with Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon just a short walk away, and plenty of food options nearby. Taking a Grab to town takes only about 10 minutes. Breakfast was really good too. There’s a wide mix of local and international dishes that change daily, plus an egg and roti canai station where you can order fresh. Service was okay, though the staff weren’t as warm as I expected from a five star hotel. Overall, it was a comfortable stay in a great location with solid facilities and food.

The check-in process was quick. The reception staff on duty were very friendly. The room was quite okay and clean. Facilities are minimalist. Daily rooms housekeeping are available. The location is quite close to Komtar.

Best hotel ever. Location dia senang betul nak cari makan. Mcd pon walking distance je. Breakfast ok but not superb. Macam² pilihan ada. Swimming pool and safety very good. Guard always jaga. Pantai dia tak landai but ok for healing. Very kids friendly ya hotel ni

I enjoyed my stay at the DoubleTree Hotel. If you don’t have transport, it’s easily accessible via the Rapid Penang public bus from town, with a stop right at the hotel. The hotel provides access to the beach, although the beach area is small and not ideal for relaxing. To Feringgi Bay & Night Market about 10mins via car. Overall, it was a good stay and I would recommend this hotel.

Hospitality and service were amazing. The staffs were friendly and very helpful, check in and check out process were smooth, need to pay deposit RM6 at receptionist. Room size was quite small but the bed was cozy enough, toilet was clean and the water pressure is good. Amenities & breakfast spread can really be improved. The pool was small but it has kids pool, overall stay was good. Located near to lots of eateries and shops. Around 10 mins to Queensbay mall.

Love the design of the hotel. The room is huge by Penang standard and comes with lots of carpark. We had a really comfortable stay at Sho. The cons is the location which is located slightly away from the Center. The water pressure in the shower is sometimes too low. These are minor problems. Definitely will visit again
