Great location. Easy access to the waterfront and eateries. Love the breakfast spread and the knick knacks in our room. First time seeing a water filter in our room - good eco friendly hotel. However it could be better if the hotel could fix the shower door as it could not close properly, causing water to overflow.
The room was spacious and clean. The staff were attentive and prompt in attending to our needs. They served us more bottles of water in our room on request. We had a pleasant welcome with a drink and ice cream. The hotel is just beside the Gurney Plaza, which makes it convenient for shopping and dining. Highly recommended.
The hotel is quite large and very close to the airport, a Grab taxi ride cost less than 10 MYR. The room cleanliness and facilities were average. However, the breakfast was good, and the service was excellent and very welcoming. The hotel has a swimming pool, and there are many convenient dining options nearby. Grab transportation also worked very well.
Good stay at Jazz Hotel Penang 👍
Really satisfied with my trip here. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a bathtub and even a complimentary bath bomb which made the stay extra relaxing. Love the rooftop pool and the overall modern vibe.
Location is convenient — walking distance to Straits Quay and easy access to Gurney area for food. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
Overall a pleasant experience, will definitely come back again!
Fantastic experience! I hesitated a lot before booking, but I'm so glad I made the right choice. It's an established five-star hotel with excellent service and a rich variety of breakfast options. The best part is the swimming pool – storage, showers, bath, and sauna are all available, and the pool water is very clean. Our room had no strange smells, though we didn't spend much time there apart from sleeping. All the great food spots are within walking distance, and taxis can easily find the location. The front desk staff can communicate perfectly in Mandarin. Highly recommended!
The location is fantastic! There's a big mall right next door and a 7-Eleven across the street. Plus, several food centers are just a few hundred meters away on foot, making it incredibly convenient. The hotel itself is clean, hygienic, and the service is great. Breakfast is really plentiful, and the rice noodles are especially delicious. It can get quite busy, but that's to be expected with such a prime location; getting around is super easy. The street art area is just a fifteen-minute walk away. I even saw a lion dance performance in the morning, which was a fun surprise, haha!
The hotel's location is excellent, right next to the night market, and the sunset views in the evening are fantastic. There are lots of delicious food options nearby. The only downside is that it's a bit far from George Town, about a 20-minute motorbike ride or a 35-minute taxi ride. The hotel itself has a 5-star standard in terms of facilities, and the breakfast offers a wide variety. However, the hotel was incredibly crowded, probably because of Chinese New Year.
Just checked out yesterday. The location is great, and the front desk staff are highly professional. They even have nutmeg water available at the reception, and the whole hotel operates very efficiently.
I booked two premium rooms and was given sea-view rooms. Although the connecting rooms were fully booked, they still gave us rooms right next to each other.
Due to high occupancy, we had to wait until 2:30 PM to check in.
On the downside: The TV only had 15 channels, so I couldn't watch the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Plus, the TV itself was broken with a lot of static – something unimaginable in China. Also, no matter how I adjusted the air conditioning, it remained freezing. The water pressure in the bathroom was low, and the water flow was a bit weak.
Aside from these few drawbacks, everything else was excellent. Overall, it's still a good hotel.
Finally, I wouldn't recommend coming to Penang during Chinese New Year, as most Chinese-owned shops are closed, so there's no good food to be found.
Location is good, right in the centre & within walking distance to eateries & shopping. Close nearby there’s the Hin Depot, it’s like a weekend flea market.
Hotel Service was great, the room that i booked was rather small, city view facing but sun was strong and day time, was abit hot as room window facing the sun. Going green is good, and water dispenser is provided on every floor for our refill. Can i suggest the bottles provided to have a wider opening as when refilling was rather difficult to avoid any spillage, especially taking the hot water
Hotel deco is very festive.
I booked this place just because I was going to climb Flagstaff Hill. From the outside, it looks decent, but the facilities inside are quite basic. First off, the water dispenser is located by the entrance on each floor, so you have to get your own water. The iron is also outside if you need to press your clothes. The cleaning staff are all male Indian workers, and frankly, it's not very clean; I even saw small ants crawling on the table. The rooftop restaurant seemed nice, but I missed the dining hours.

GGuest Userthis hotel is good overall, but when we arrived, they told us that we didn't have a booking with them and they couldn't locate our booking and details. the room was also said to be taken, and they are waiting for a cancellation in order to get our room. There is a lot of confusion among staff. some visitors were told to leave their rooms once they have entered. we waiting 1 hr 30 min to get our room. so check in was at 4.30pm. parking was also very inconvenient, as we had to park at the basement, which was impossible to even get one if you came into the hotel late and a T&G card was also needed to get validated before leaving the hotel if we wanted a free spot. Room was very spacious and clean. the tea and coffee was hard like its never been changed.
GGuest UserWe stayed here for a family trip and overall it was a decent experience. The room was averagely clean and acceptable for a short stay. Basic amenities were provided, and everything was functioning properly.
The overall environment of the hotel was okay, but the property feels a little old and could benefit from some renovation or upgrading. However, it was still comfortable enough for our family to rest after a long day out.
In general, it’s suitable for families who are looking for a simple and practical place to stay, though not luxury.

Llyly_1111The hotel is a bit old, but I actually found the bed quite comfortable, unlike some reviews that mentioned sagging. It's in a great location for exploring; just a short walk around the corner and you'll find the colorful shophouses and plenty of local snacks. You'll need to grab a ride to get to Mural Street and the Peranakan Museum. Breakfast was a bit weak; you have to cook your own noodles, and when I went at 9:30 AM, they said they had run out of eggs, which the hotel definitely needs to improve on. Other services were pretty good though.
GGuest UserNewish hotel, we have been here before. The first thing you will notice is the lack of furniture and that all your cases will be out on the floor in front of you. There is a ridiculous looking small wash basin that's hard to wash your face in without getting the floor wet or hitting your head on the tap. No slippers, tissues, or hand towels, just one big towel. Only one bedside thing with the phone taking up most of the space, they could fix the phone to the wall. A very small table available had to be used as a bedside table.
Good enclosed shower. Breakfast never changed noticeably but good to see steamed buns available as well as cereal. This meant there was milk for tea/coffee instead of the powdered cream available. I suggested a jug of milk would be nice next to hot drinks but it never happened. I would stay again but not for as long next time.
NNiannianyiyiReally enjoyed the hotel's happy hour in the afternoon; the atmosphere was great, and the snacks were even better than at breakfast! The pool was much smaller and more crowded than I expected, which was a bit of a surprise. However, the view from the room window was absolutely perfect for photos! It was also very thoughtful that they offered a take-away breakfast option for early flights. If you're interested in the hotel's history or browsing shops, the Victory Wing is where it's at; the boutiques there are quite nice. Overall, a two-night stay was definitely enough to experience everything. P.S. Don't worry, it's completely normal for there to be no rooms facing the corridor!
GGuest UserThis hotel is quite a distance from the city center, even further than the Shangri-La by a few kilometers, located on the beach. There are no convenient facilities nearby, so you'll need to take a taxi to get around. However, a 2km taxi ride will take you to Dadong Seafood Restaurant. All the hotel rooms face west, offering sunset views. The gym is small and lacks equipment. There are two pools, but they are quite shallow. Housekeeping cleans twice a day, but I still noticed some stains on the bed linen. There were also small ants, which is to be expected in a beachfront hotel. During peak breakfast hours, you might have to wait. If you're looking for a quiet escape in Penang, this is the place. At least it's relatively new and offers decent value for money. During the Chinese New Year, they even had fireworks and a weekly 'iron flower' performance. It really made a great impression.
GGuest UserFive stars all around! Big shout-out to the friendly front desk staff. I was torn between JEN Hotel and Wembley, but ultimately chose Wembley because I saw reviews mentioning early check-in, which was a huge draw for me. It's also Chinese-friendly, and the front desk staff can communicate in Chinese. Even though rooms were very tight during Chinese New Year, the hotel still allowed me to check in quite a bit earlier. This gave me a precious three-hour nap, helping me avoid the hottest part of the day and making my first day of sightseeing rich and energetic. Wembley and JEN are just across the street from each other, but Wembley is on higher floors, offering a more expansive view. It's only about 700-800 meters to both Mural Street and the Clan Jetties. There are also plenty of shopping and food courts nearby. The hotel itself is well-maintained, and soundproofing is decent. My only minor complaint: For two adults and one child, we requested an extra comforter, but they brought a blanket instead. Using just a blanket requires quite some courage!
