Jazz Hotel Penang

Upon entering the hotel, no one guided us; all the staff were just chatting among themselves. The hotel is quite old overall. We booked three rooms, and the hotel's information was inconsistent with the actual photos, but it was eventually resolved, and they upgraded our rooms for free. However, the hotel's cleanliness is very poor; the floors were very dusty. When we first arrived at one of the rooms, the door was broken, there were tissues on the floor, and it was the last room on the corridor. The upgraded rooms also had poor hygiene, with a lot of dust in the corners. After changing rooms, the key card for one of them didn't work, so we had to go downstairs again to get it replaced. The air conditioning in the rooms was extremely cold and couldn't be adjusted. Room numbers: 1910, 1908, 1907. The first room we were given was 1914.

The entire hotel facility is too old. I initially thought the bathroom walls had an artistic design, but on closer inspection, it was just poorly applied plaster! The toilet kept making strange noises and constantly running. The most bizarre thing was that construction started at 9 AM right outside my room! They were using a jackhammer! And guests weren't informed beforehand. What's worse, when I complained to the front desk, they acted completely nonchalant! The hotel is near the sea, on a high floor, and the windows are old-style single-pane aluminum ones, which don't seal properly at all! The wind howled non-stop in the morning! I asked the front desk to move to a room on the other side, not facing the street, but they said there were no available rooms and that 'all rooms are like this.' Fine, whatever! Seriously, avoid this place!!!

Close to the sea, and so many delicious foods and fun places in Penang, especially the durian – it was incredibly tasty! Haha, I'm looking forward to bringing my family next time. A perfect trip, and the people of Penang are really welcoming.

After Agoda canceled on me, I booked a last-minute night at Jazz, and it was pretty good. The bed was on the softer side, and the rooftop pool was quite large. However, the bathroom floor tiles combined with their slippers were incredibly dangerous – I almost slipped multiple times.

Great location with plenty of dining options. The front desk, bell staff, and cleaning crew were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a limited menu, but there was a sufficient amount of food.

My overall experience at Jazz Hotel Penang was great. The room was spacious and clean, the facilities were well-maintained, and the bed was comfortable, making for a very relaxing stay. The hotel's location is convenient, with shopping malls, restaurants, and convenience stores nearby. It's also easy to get to George Town or other attractions. The rooftop pool and the overall ambiance are quite unique, offering good value for money. The only minor drawback was that parking was a bit difficult to find, especially during peak check-in times. I had to spend some time waiting or driving around to find a spot. If you're driving, I'd recommend allocating some extra time for parking. Overall, it's a hotel I'd recommend, and I would consider staying here again on my next trip to Penang.
