Smell strong cigarettes smoking upon open the door. Mixed with the fragrant of the room was super overwhelming and cause nauseous. Thought could be really the smell of the fragrant they use but when i entered the toliet. Smell of ppl smoking inside before… with my 2 kids, I request for change of room which was given. But the hassle of expecting to rest when checking but then end up with need to make a trip down to reception to change room not pleasant for me.
Troublesome.. hotel all are good but RM200 to fine smokers who smoke inside the room is too small as most SG and MY can afford. Should increase the fine to $3000…. Don’t worry.. smokers are rich people since they are afford to buy cigarettes to smoke their life away..
Our family of three, along with two nannies, booked a three-bedroom apartment, and it was excellent value for money! The New Year's Eve countdown stage and fireworks were right downstairs! The only minor drawback was having just one bathroom for everyone to share, but since it was a short two-day stay and we had different schedules, it worked out fine! Check-in was very smooth, and each unit even had a dedicated customer service agent. Our agent, Yuki, was fantastic! She was very responsive and quick to reply! It was a pleasant and convenient stay! Next time we come to Johor Bahru, we're definitely booking here again! 🤙🤙🤙😀

This was a return trip for us to Sunway Big Box Hotel.
We booked the family suite for three guests and requested a large bed in a quiet room, as some rooms face the side with the live band at night. The staff were friendly, and check-in was smooth and hassle-free. Since we arrived very early, we left our luggage with the concierge.
The hotel later sent us a WhatsApp message to inform us that our room was ready. Collecting the keys was quick and easy—just showed the message and we were good to go.
The family suite was excellent: spacious, clean, and well-equipped, featuring two restrooms and a separate bar area with a coffee machine and microwave.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Sunway Big Box and will definitely return again soon!

Stayed 1night here for first time. The room was spacious with Seaview, although the building is old,the room is well-maintained and comes with complete toiletries.
The swimming pool area is decent, and there's a small garden beside the pool where they planted different types of plant and even labelled them.
The only downside is the crows around the main entrance, which can be a bit uncomfortable.
Overall, location is good with a satisfying and comfortable staying.

Fuss free, great location, spacious room, clean hotel. Enjoyed the stay here. Nice buffet breakfast, international spread. Only traffic outside was bad during certain hours. Otherwise, we had a great lovely stay here. Managed to visit the monday pasar malam nearby.

Utilised the spacious rooms with the kitchenette before my work related event, it was a comfortable rest with an open balcony, very relaxing overall. It is located in a quiet time of town so it is very useful if you are preparing for something important.
The swimming pool was unmanned, the gym is small but functional. Food is decent.

I’m giving this hotel 3 stars because it delivers exactly that — a textbook 3-star experience. If you’re walking from JB CIQ, take a moment to pray for your luggage wheels. The cobblestone pavement on the way is a certified durability test for any suitcase. The reception staff, to their credit, were professional and efficient, setting the stay off on a positive note.
There’s no air-conditioning in the corridors on the way from the lobby to the rooms, which makes sense once you feel the lobby itself — it’s cooled to near polar conditions, possibly at the expense of the upper floors. The lobby even has a convenience stall with tables and chairs — great for a quick snack or late-night instant noodle run. The fact that they sell noodles complete with disposable bowls almost makes it feel planned.
I stayed on the 19th floor in a room that could politely be described as functional. It came with two sockets, a few hangers in an open closet, and no mini-fridge, so don’t bring anything perishable unless you plan to eat it immediately. The vinyl flooring showed signs of wear, and a quick look under the bed revealed a generous collection of dust. The AC was the old-school fan coil type, and thankfully, it worked perfectly fine.
The bathroom, however, turned into an adventure of its own. The shower head was fixed in place, the glass partition far too short, and the result was a small-scale water park after every shower — fun only if you enjoy slipping hazards. The toilet needed a two-flush routine, and the bidet hose leaked enough to make using it a careful balancing act.
Then there was the Great Towel Shortage. Despite two guests, we received one face towel. There was no hand soap either — only the all-purpose shampoo dispenser in the shower. When housekeeping came, they simply rehung the used towels instead of replacing them. The lone face towel, which I’d pressed into service to mop up the flooded floor, was removed and never replaced. We ended up with just two towels for our second night. I was too tired to argue.
Breakfast was a pleasant surprise — the buffet was reasonably priced and had a good range of options.
Overall, this hotel is best suited for travelers who can adapt and aren’t thrown off by a few inconveniences. If you’re the kind of person who enjoys finding creative solutions when things don’t go perfectly, you might even appreciate it here. But if you’re after consistent comfort, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. Staying here is a bit like driving a reliable car with no seat cushions — it gets you where you need to go, but the ride won’t be entirely comfortable.

Hotel location is excellent, with nearby food places, massage spa and entertainment. Check in was prompt and hassle free. The king room we booked is very spacious and generally clean. There is also alkaline hot and normal water temperature available in the room for guests to utilise! Wish there were more coffee sachets available for guests to enjoy. Breakfast spread has a lot of variety and kids and adults alike will enjoy!
For Muslim families, it’s reassuring to know that St. Giles provides bidets in the toilets. I stayed in the Urban King Room, and this is honestly a hotel I keep coming back to—I’ve stayed here three times now. Whenever I’m in JB, especially with babies, this is my go-to hotel because it’s extremely convenient and the facilities are excellent. The modern design is another big plus.
For breakfast, I’d strongly recommend going early at 7am. The place fills up very quickly, and by 8am there’s already a queue forming. That said, the staff at Causeway Café are very efficient at managing the crowd kudos to them.
We also tried the dinner buffet at Causeway Café, and at RM118, it definitely did not disappoint. I’m not sure when in-room dining was introduced, but we ordered the Hokkien mee and nasi goreng, and both were really good. We hope they continue with this in room dining!!
I’ll definitely keep coming back!
Popped over to Johor for an impromptu trip and ended up staying at KSL Hot Spring Resort. Overall, a very positive experience.
• Cleanliness & Room: I’d rate the hygiene at 88% and above. The room was well-maintained, smelled fresh, and felt ”good enough” for a comfortable stay (not for view). Definitely worth the price paid.
• Location: This hotel is best suited for those traveling by car. It is tucked away in a quieter spot, but very convenient to get to Tebrau and Mount Austin (lots of food and cafes nearby!).
• Parking: A big plus for road trippers—parking lot is free for hotel guests.
• 24hr front desk Service: The staff here are very helpful and friendly. Check-in and check-out were a breeze.
If you have your own transport and want a clean, quiet, high-value place to stay near the Mount Austin/AEON Tebrau area, this is a solid choice. Will definitely consider coming back.

TTezza5130We weren't planning on staying overnight in JB but life happens and we needed a room for 2 nights. Trip.com came through for us and when we got to this hotel, the staff at Doubletree, especially ROZLIN and MOHAR from their Careline department, were SUPER helpful and kind. Their level of care for their guests was truly impressive and it was evident to us that this is part of their culture and we extended our stay for a 3rd night as a result. Doubletree by Hilton Johor Bahru is now our top choice for JB!

TteeheeheeIt's about a 20-30min car ride away from checkpoint. When I stepped into the place to check-in at night, it looked really big and grand.
Very peaceful location with nothing much around - good to chill and relax. Feels like the equivalent of sentosa cove area in SG.
Room is big and generally well maintained. There's a few ants in the kitchenette so that part needs improvement. Bed is super comfy.
Bfast buffet included. There's a variety of food but tastewise it's decent, some hit and misses.
Gym is well-equipped, pool is partially sheltered and clean - so rain or shine it's all good.
Our package comes with one time free lounge usage from 10am to 5pm but there was nothing much. I will not pay extra for it. There was no one manning the place. The small lounge area comes with coffee machine, a few snacks that went stale, and bottled fruit juice that tasted very artificial.
Apart from above, all staffs we encountered were great and polite. Overall, great place to stay in, value-for-money.
GGuest UserConvenient location to Aeon Mall & Green Oasis massage place. Front desk staff responded immediately to get technician in checking hot water for shower. Shower head needs to be changed. Overall a pleasant stay.

SsakiiiiiinahMagical mornings and sunsets, will definitely stay again. The dinner set could have been better, it was clearly indicated that a main, soup, drink and dessert would be about 35rm nett, but when we enquired, they said we had to add on for the dessert. It was clearly stated but i didn't feel like arguing because the food wasn't very great so I just left.
The receptionist and everyone else was good, breakfast was okay, no other complaints aside from the above.
GGuest UserWent to Desaru to celebrate my birthday and they kindly decorated the room with simple deco and a slice of yummy cheese cake. Contacting them via email was responsive. The room had two super single beds but we added one more as we have 2A and 2C. The parking fee was about 7RM per day. The room was tidy and clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The hotel has a nice buffet breakfast. The staff at reception was friendly and helpful. They have shuttle buses to various areas but booking is needed and timing is as attached. We enjoyed the pool as well. Went to the bar to enjoy the music as well. There are many shops and food around the hotel. Laundromats as well are located nearby. Will surely stay here again.
RRenny RahmanWe travelled as a family and required connecting rooms. The front desk staff, Kestari, and manager, Lawrence, tried their best to put all 3 rooms we booked on the same floor as well as 2 out of 3 as connecting rooms. We are so thankful that they managed to get all of us on the same floor by upgrading our rooms, got us connecting rooms and even gave us complementary breakfast for all! What a wonderful and sweet thought as we checked in for my son's 4th birthday! Their breakfast spread is so, so good! Must get breakfast as part of your stay. The swimming pool is the highlight of our trip. All our kids aged 10 to 2 years old, enjoyed themselves! The gym and sauna look good! Thank you to the team especially the two who helped us. AAnonymous UserFirst time staying at Sands and Sandals resort and I think we would definitely visit again one day! Had a surprise decoration, thank you to the hotel staff for the balloons and cake and the beautiful set-up. Check in and check out was a breeze too, probably as we were not affected by the peak period.
Breakfast was good too! Our second morning was more crowded but there were more choices too and it wss delicious. Room was comfortable and everything is provided, like towels, bath essentials, dental essentials. The connection of the tv was also a bit iffy but we didn't mind.
Parking was also easy for us and location felt safe. Near to tourist attractions like Adventure Waterpark and Woodfire too!
Thank you for the great service!

KKendal Version TwoPointOIt was a good stay at the hotel. The staff were very accommodating. They helped me to find an adapter for my charger since what I brought wasn’t able to connect with their socket. It was a nice window view too. One thing I just noticed is that, it’s not sound proof? I heard the sounds of vehicles outside the hotel. But overall experience was good.
