St. Giles Southkey

Had a 4 days 3 night staycation here. Excellent location with Mid-Valley Southkey mall within the same building. Perfect for shopping, dining, entertainment and accomodation all under one roof. The room was decent and clean with standard amenities. Bed and pillows are comfortable, Facilities are alright with gym and swimming pool with a nice view at the top floor. Breakfast was fresh and delicious with a lot of focus on local Malaysian cuisines. There is sufficient variety to try different food each day during my stay. Parking is reasonable at RM10 per day although officially stated as RM5. I believe each day ends at midnight. Thus, staying overnight guarantees paying for at least 2 days of parking. Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visitng JB.

Hotel location is very convenient Only the breakfast, the egg station is always start at 7am, it is good if can start earlier

Room is big. Everything is clean. Super convenient being on top of mid valley shopping mall. Mall is also kid friendly a lot of activities.

Bedsheet and pillow case was stained. A bit of smell in the pillow too. The washer had a lot of washing powder in the compartment and was not cleaned. Water temperature was not consistent during shower. It took a while to get hot then it became super hot and halfway it turn cold. The breakfast could be better. Food was average.

Extremely disappointed. This hotel has serious housekeeping and maintenance issues. I booked St. Giles expecting a comfortable stay, but instead I spent my first night documenting the condition of the room because I simply couldn’t believe it had been inspected before being assigned to a guest. The bathroom was particularly shocking. The handheld shower head had visible black mould and grime around the spray nozzles. The grout and silicone around the shower were stained and discoloured, with mould visible in several areas. The floor drain was filthy, with built-up dirt that clearly hadn’t accumulated overnight. The bathroom door frame also had visible mould growing along the edge. It didn’t stop there. The air-conditioning vent was packed with dust, suggesting it hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time. The vanity still had obvious water stains and streak marks instead of being properly wiped down. The grout lines throughout the bathroom were dirty, the walls had scuff marks, and even the toilet bowl had visible staining. The bathtub also had marks and residue that made me question whether it had been properly cleaned before my arrival. None of these issues, on their own, would have ruined a stay. But when you see all of them together in a single room, it paints a worrying picture of the hotel’s housekeeping standards and quality control. It genuinely made me question what wasn’t visible if this is what was obvious to the naked eye. The only reason I’m not giving one star is because of the staff. Every member of staff I dealt with was friendly, courteous and genuinely tried their best to help. They listened, apologised and acted professionally. My frustration is not with them, it is with management. The frontline team shouldn’t have to apologise for problems that should never have made it past housekeeping or room inspection in the first place. St. Giles has a fantastic location and employees who clearly care about guests, but management is letting them down by allowing rooms to be presented in this condition. Until housekeeping standards and preventive maintenance improve significantly, I cannot recommend staying here.

We recently completed a 3-night stay in August at St. Giles Southkey Johor Bahru, and overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. If you are looking for a comfortable, convenient base in JB that offers great value without breaking the bank, this hotel is a solid choice. The Highlights: Impeccable Service: The staff were truly excellent throughout our stay. They were polite, attentive, and very prompt in assisting with all of our requests. Family-Friendly: Traveling with a little one can be tricky, but the hotel kindly provided a complimentary baby cot, which made our stay so much easier and more comfortable. Room Quality: The room was spotless, well-maintained, and provided a great night’s rest after a long day of exploring. Areas for Improvement: Lobby Fragrance: The scent/fragrance used in the main lobby was quite overpowering. It hits you right when you walk in and could be toned down a bit for a more pleasant arrival experience. Breakfast Spread: While there was a wide variety of food options available, several hot dishes were lukewarm or cold, which unfortunately took away from the taste and overall breakfast experience. Verdict: Despite the minor hiccups with breakfast and the lobby scent, the cleanliness, fantastic service, and sheer convenience make St. Giles a great value-for-money option in Johor Bahru. Would definitely consider staying here again!

Location is convenient as just above mid valley shopping mall. Bathroom can be improved as the drainage system seems to have issued. Otherwise all good.

ST giles hotel will always be my number choice of hotel when I’m at Johor bahru. I have just tired their in-room dining and it is superb! I love how great the location is and honestly great for families for small children.

Pool is under maintainance. like the smooth check-in procedure as they don't demand a physical credit card to verify (and I forgot to bring one). Showed them my trip confirmation and it was well accepted. express checkout is easy too. Great location to cater for my shopping needs. Taken aback with the window in the room as it was dirty and green algae.
