"Clean hotel with cheerful staff and a comfortable large bed. Lovely Dove soap, shampoo and shower gel provided. Hairdryer, tea and coffee supplies, decent size TV with good signal and plenty of electrical sockets each with 2 usb ports. Roomy powerful shower and 2 bath and 2 hand towels (some hotels only provide one hand towel for 2 occupants). Aircon which was nice in the warm weather. Lifts to all floors. Bar in reception area. Lots of choice at breakfast: 4 fruit juices, multiple tea and coffee varieties, croissants, rolls, white and brown breads (toaster too), croissants, pastries, yoghurt, compote, cereals, sausages, bacon, hash browns, tomatoes, beans and scrambled eggs. They are also happy to store luggage before check-in time and after checkout. A couple of minutes walk from the train station. Car park (payable - although you get first 20 mins without charge if for example you're being dropped off). What's not to love!"

"We really enjoyed our stay, we found it quite clean and tidy, room was sweet, would be nice if price for bikes was included within room fee, as it feels quite menial but still not excessive cost. Stayed on one of the hottest nights of the year so far, so would have been nice if we were offered additional fans/mini AC, but this wasn't listed on the room info so wasn't expected. Breakfast portions and generally Milly's restaurant (on site) portions were quite small for both breakfast and dinner. Overall friendly and accommodating team."

"As a solo traveler, I felt right at home at The St. James Hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with any request. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. The hotel's central location made it easy to explore Grimsby's attractions and local cuisine. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area."

"Great hotel excellent value.. The staff provided an excellent service. Rooms are spacious with plenty of storage and clothes hangers. Also provided with a hair dyer, iron, iron board, kettle tea and coffee making facilities.The bed is huge and very comfortable with good quality bed linen. Nice very clean bathroom, freshly laundered excellent quality towels, large walk in shower cubicle with a very good shower. They do not provide breakfast but you are a 10 minute walk to brewers fayre who provide breakfast. Will definitely recommend this hotel and will use it again in the future."

"The staff in this experience was amazing very nice. And the view I had was incredible. The tv was a tad old but had fun watching the old cable shows 🤣. however there was some cleaning issues like hair on my bath mat or limescale on the kettle which looked very unsanitary. And parts of the bathroom didn’t look very clean so I did have to clean more than usual as I do re-clean to my liking on my trips as a personal preference. There was a spot in the room where it was like I kept stubbing my toe against cause it was open. A lot of dust everywhere so I did wake up a tad sick tho unfortunately. But as a short stay it was a tad overpriced in my opinion"

"The staff were friendly and the actual hotel was quite elegant. The grounds were amazing, and there were plenty of lovely places for photos with colourful flowers. We ate dinner in the hotel and the presentation of the food and the quality was excellent. The steak was cooked to perfection. The mushroom risotto wasn't quite as good as it had some crunchy bits of rice in it. It needed about 10 minutes longer on a slow heat, and then it would have been perfect; as it wasn't that hot either. This hotel boasts that it has a spa, swimming pool, and lots of different spa room experiences. Normally, when you use the leisure facilities connected to the hotel that you're staying in, they provide towels free of charge. Not this one. We walked over with our swimwear and room key card to be told that towels were £1 each. We explained that we didn't bring a wallet, money, or a phone to pay with. We asked if they could charge it to our room. They couldn't!! They said that you can use the one in your hotel room or walk back to the hotel reception and they'd give us them. Not helpful at all. Then, we went in to find the two foot spa's didn't work, and when I said it to the leisure centre manager, his reply was ' I know as I reported them last week'. But not a sign on them to say that they weren't working! Overall, the hotel needed a bit of a spruce up; but they made up for it with friendly staff. We paid to play a 9 hole game of golf and the staff in the golf shop was amazing."
