We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Nacional in Rio. The location is unbeatable — right on São Conrado beach with incredible views and great beach service. While it doesn’t have an endless list of amenities, the ones it offers are more than enough to relax and enjoy a great vacation: a beautiful pool, comfortable rooms, and attentive staff.
As a constructive note, Wi-Fi coverage could be improved in some areas of the hotel. That said, we had a wonderful experience overall and would definitely come back!
The hotel is very well located, with markets, bars, bakeries and other shops nearby. The room was very clean and organized, the bed was comfortable and the environment was quiet. A wide variety of food is offered at breakfast and the staff is very helpful.

The hotel has a nice location on the beach, but the property could do with some updates.
The first room I went into had a funny smell, so I reported it to reception. The male receptionist looked at me, and as if he doubted my word
After I insisted, he assigned me a new room, but it was left to me to move my luggage. . No support was offered and I couldn’t be bothered to ask.
I did ask if there would be any complimentary water put in the room. He said he would get housekeeping to put some water, but I’m still waiting two days later.
Power outlets in the room are limited and not designed for modern travel. No USB points.
The TV is old and not smart or Internet connected. There are no cable channels so nearly all of the channels are local language apart from one CNN news channel in English..
The hotel is quite noisy and dogs. The walls are thin and guests scrape furniture across the marble floors. This is relatively easy to remedy if the hotel cared.
The rooftop pool was disappointing as it’s quite small and normally full of kids.
The restaurant is closed after breakfast. There is a bar, but it’s never open..
The biggest problem I had was the Internet. It did not work properly in my room and kept cutting out every few minutes. I had to stand in the corridor or come down to the lobby in order to get any decent coverage. I complained to the staff, but they did nothing and just told me it works.. This was extremely frustrating and I certainly wouldn’t come back to this hotel again.

The room lacked basic amenities — no duvet or blanket, broken toilet, no hot water, and a phone that didn’t work. The WiFi and TV barely functioned, the ceiling was under construction, and the room had no view with a window that opened only a sliver. The door also locked itself and the key card stopped working.
The hotel was overcrowded — there was no space to enjoy the pool, and breakfast was a letdown with no vegan options at all. Add to that loud construction noise for long periods and this stay felt more stressful than relaxing. Definitely not worth the price or the stars.

The environment here is very quiet, so if you have trouble sleeping, this might be a good option for you. On the ninth floor, there's a heated rooftop pool and a gym, and on the ground floor, Western cuisine is served. The airport is about 500 meters directly opposite the pool, and the beach is about a ten-minute drive away. The hotel's back entrance leads to the Metropolitano mall, which features an Australian restaurant, a standard Japanese restaurant, over a dozen small eateries, massage parlors, and a cinema. Sugarloaf Mountain is approximately 28 kilometers from the hotel, and getting there by Uber is quite convenient.

The hotel is dated, but well-maintained. Daily cleaning. There was even a sauna in the room, although it wasn't working. The room was large and spacious, with a giant shower. Breakfast was standard for Brazil: fruit (papaya, pineapple, melon, watermelon, bananas, and even peaches and plums early in the morning), bread/rolls, cheese, ham, and even fish pie, scrambled eggs, cereal, and yogurt. The location was good; it's quite safe to walk around, although you should always be on your guard. Flamingo Beach is nice, with clean water, better than Copa and Ipanema. It's a short walk to the famous colored stairs, Lapa, and the city center.
The only unpleasant thing was at the end: they charged me for water, which I didn't even have in my room. Naturally, I said I didn't drink anything, and they didn't charge me. Check these items immediately upon arrival.

Service at the hotel was excellent with the staff very quick to help with bags etc. The rooftop pool and bar was great and had amazing views of Copacabana. The room was a decent size and the shower very good. We had breakfast which had a good selection and was pretty decent.

Great hotel with a luxurious view of the most famous beach.
Yes, there are some minor issues, like sometimes having to wait 7 minutes for an elevator, but I don't consider that a problem. It's a 30-story hotel with 6 elevators and many rooms, so you can imagine.
The breakfasts are a bit repetitive and could be improved, but they do have fresh orange juice, which is a nice touch.
There aren't always enough hotel umbrellas and chairs on the beach, but I don't see that as critical either.
The bed was good, and I slept excellently!
My birthday fell during my stay, and the hotel gave me a lovely surprise! Thank you! I'll definitely be back.
We loved our stay. The breakfast was wonderful, the location is great, and the staff were very polite. The hotel offers 4 EV charging spots and has a fantastic restaurant.

GGuest UserWonderful hotel, spacious, clean, airy room, with a balcony facing the street, very attractive, super comfortable beds, super cold air conditioning, strong and warm shower, bedspreads available, TOP pool, large and beautiful on the terrace with a super cool view, and super plentiful and delicious breakfast, I highly recommend the hotel and will definitely return.

BBanruochuanThis is an extremely impressive hotel i have ever experienced.
The most impressive aspect is the service and Diego is a legend! Everything you need can be solved and managed by Diego super, professionally, systematically, precisely, prompt and warmly, just like magic and miracle.
if I could score higher, I would have given triple so high as full score for Diego's service!
I am really really glad to recall the days in this hotel!!!
GGuest UserVery friendly staff, nice hotel. I booked a suite for one night, the room was clean although it could use some refurbishing. One window didn't lock, so the noise from the street was constant. Located in a street with some stores, but not an area where you feel safe walking around. No toiletries included apart from s soap and shower gel/shampoo. Coffee machine in the bedroom with 2 coffee pods. I couldn't see a menu anywhere, assumed these were complimentary, as in most hotels where you rent a suite. I was surprised to be charged 1.5 USD per capsule on checkout, and that there was a QR code informing me of this in the room. I couldn't find it anywhere though.
All in all, great staff, but there is definitely a much better price to service/location ratio than this hotel in Rio

WWinnieThe location is excellent, surrounded by hotels and restaurants. Across the street is the endless ocean and a beach bustling with people playing ball and running early every morning. It's very convenient to all the attractions! Of course, a sea view room would be much more comfortable. The sunrises are beautiful every day. Although you can't see east, they're still beautiful. The interior view rooms have a small balcony, but it can feel a bit cramped. Beach slippers are provided and can be taken away and reused.
GGuest UserIt was my first hotel stay, I was treated very well from start to finish. The facilities are super new and timeless. The gardens are very beautiful, everything is very well looked after.
The food is impeccable, the staff make you feel at home. I highly recommend it.

GGuest UserThis property has the potential to be amazing, but it needs a few key updates. The location is fabulous, the staff is excellent, and the restaurant is great both in terms of service and food quality.
The room was spacious, and the balcony was unbeatable. If you only speak English, you can get by staying here because all of the staff speak excellent English. We encountered a problem when the showerhead broke off, but the repairman came reasonably quickly to replace it, and he was very polite and not disruptive. We ordered room service, and Dom Rio, the hotel’s restaurant, delivered it quickly. I had the filet which was cooked properly to the correct temperature (medium rare). My fiancé had the alfredo pasta which she liked a lot. The breakfast had a huge selection, and everything tasted good.
The only thing keeping this hotel from earning top marks is the general state of much of the decor in the rooms. The curtains look shabby and dirty from moisture, and the wood of the cabinets is warped also. It is very hard to maintain a room that is constantly exposed to salt water and ocean breeze, but the materials chosen have not stood up to age.
I would recommend staying here if you are interested in staying in Barra at a nice but reasonably priced hotel, but don’t expect the finest luxury. Expect a very large, fairly clean room with a comfortable bed and an amazing view.

KKEVINLEEThe room balcony has a beautiful view, simple design, rich breakfast, and is also a safe area, but the hotel front desk will sell tickets and game tickets, which are more expensive than buying them yourself. Especially the game tickets: I bought them for 120 RMB, and they bought them for more than 800 RMB, just for the pick-up.
