It started off rough. Got into the hotel early to leave our luggage and the guy manning the check in was cold, standoffish, and didn’t even bother replying to our pleasantries. When we returned, a misunderstanding ensured. Cos of my earlier encounter, I was just unreasonable. But thank goodness for Suhaila (I think) and her manager - they deescalated the situation with grace and aplomb. That bump aside, I had a lovely time. Was in room 213. Initially I was worried because I have read about noise issues coming from the club next door. But either the club was closed or the soundproofing worked, there were no disturbances. We slept like babies. The room was beautiful, and the location is amazing. This hotel is highly Recommended. Just don’t bother to pay extra for the breakfast. That was just too sad. We tried it on our last day in the hotel as we were leaving early for the airport. It was dismal.

The hotel is good and clean, but the service of parking security is terrible, before we check in, one of the security was playing his phone and videocalling with his friend，so he didnt even notice our car，when he finally noticed us after my husband was leaving to check in first， he knocked our car heavily，and said this is not parking area，i said ok，just a second，he is checking in，the security was rolling his eyes and said it emphasisly again，asked me to move it and i dont even have driving license here. One minutes later ，my husband was back with room card，he checked and let us just parking right there！！ can not believe there are rude staff in this fancy hotel！ 这个酒店的保安无比地*****，我们车停在门口去checkin ，有一个印度保安当时在草丛里玩手机压根没看到我们，然后我老公刚离开座位，车引擎今年还开这，就听见有人猛敲我车窗，我吓一跳看见这个印度保安从草丛里跑出来手机不玩了，说这不是停车位，我说好的 等一分钟，他去checkin ，我们马上开走，他在那翻着白眼大声说这不是停车位！ 我说我没驾照，不然你来开。他一副高高在上的嘴脸，站在我车门口，然后等我老公出来拿着房卡，他一看是酒店的客人，就说把车摆正，等我们下车他赶紧跑远了。酒店平时都没有服务态度的培训吗，他都把自己当这酒店主人了

If you like Nanyang Hokkien culture, you deserve to stay here for a few nights. The style of the hotel is based on Nanyang architectural features. The interior and exterior design of the gate, inner and outer courtyards make people feel very relaxed. The location of the hotel is good. It is on the outside of Love Lane. It will not be too noisy from other bars and restaurants in the lane. There are many restaurants and bars nearby. I recommend Decheng Restaurant and the nearby stall of wanton noodle fried kway teow. The outside is also close to the sea There are also some scenic spots where you can take a walk with the sea breeze. The room arrangement is good this time. It is a bungalow on the second floor facing the gate. The bed-shaped bathroom is very spacious and clean. There are two small chairs for drinking tea and coffee and watching the birds and flowers outside. There is also a public space outside the door to read books, drink coffee and play board games. Even if it is raining outside, you can chat with friends and play games inside. The breakfast is good. There are self-service and set meals, and the portions are quite sufficient. Next time I come to Penang, I will continue to choose 23lovelane☕️.

My elderly parents stayed at The Gurney during their medical checkup in Penang and accidentally left behind some documents. We emailed the hotel and left a message through booking.com to no avail. Then through a phone call, we got connected to Danesh at the Concierge Department, who then went the extra mile to coordinate among various departments within the hotel, and mailed the document through express courier service. His attentive service is highly appreciated.

One of the oldest hotel along Gurney Drive but still among the best and cheapest in that area. Clean and friendly staff. Fair breakfast buffet spread. Free canned drinks and apples daily. Simply amazing hotel. We chose the seaview deluxe room and the view facing the bay was amazing. The new Gurney bay park is just in front of the hotel where you can jog and catch sunrise at the promenade. Evergreen Laurel is surely my favorite hotel in Georgetown and will come back here soon.

The white elevator is very unique to this elevator. Tho it was slow but I don’t mind bec it so chic with glass door. Very unique indeed! Love it though I wasn’t able to take pic. 😒 +++ white elevator, water refilling dispenser, very spacious room & bathroom +++ location was quite away from the main action but there are 2 bus stops nearby, komtar & chowrasta are 5-10mins walk +++ they provide dental kit, small soap, nice shampoo/conditioner & body wash, mugs, electric kettle, safe, ref, ac was functioning very well, room telephone, tv but i did not use it +++ free wifi was good —- reception is not very friendly except for 1 Indian guy who promptly answers whatsapp tho he mistaken me for a guy at first 😄, the chinese receptionist hardly smiles, indian lady seemed to not know anything when you ask about tourist spots (i think hotel people should equip themselves with some knowledge on tourism. I mean there should be basic orientation by management on this. Times had changed and you need to have these extra customer service, just suggesting). —- i was in the assumption that cleaning is daily but i was told every other day but i still need to remind them about it. Entire hotel can use some improvement in the cleaning — no closet inside the room, you just have to hang your stuff —- my view was a huge wall —- soundproofing is bad, very noisy when people close doors or children running around. You hear toilet flushing from nearby rooms —- it was raining when I arrive and nobody offered an umbrella except on the second day when the janitor heard me. That was appreciated very much. It also made me realize that umbrella is a weapon for solo travellers so that made the carrying a little easier —- towels smell mushy maybe bec of rainy season —- sometimes bathroom had some drainage smells —- food choices was a little limited in area unless you walk for like 5-10mins. Overall stay was still on the good side. I had way worst stays than this. I did enjoy my solo trip to Penang and would love to go back. I plan to stay next time near the street art areas where the actions are. I would still recommend le embassy to other travellers.

I booked for two twin beds rooms for our family trip. This hotel is situated near the Komtar, so it is very convenient to get to the public transportation and eateries. You can walk to the famous Penang Road Chendol and bus station within 1 km. The room is not big but it is comfortable and completed with the things we need like kettle, hairdryer, small fridge, coffer, wardrobe，hanger, toothbrush kit and so on. We really enjoy the stay here.

The staff are fantastic. Max, Fitri, Mehedi, Azad, Hidayah (and another nice young woman whose name I do not know) were so great during my stay there. The WiFi works well, there are plenty of places to eat in the area, I didn't smell anybody smoking (common in budget hotels). The only issue I had was with a loud guest, but it was Thaipusam week so it is likely not like that often. It's not a luxury hotel, but he staff perform like a luxury hotel staff.

Arriving in the hotel and checking in was simple, friendly and fuss free. They were kind to my requests and assigned me a high floor sea view room, thank you. JASMEEN at the front office is very helpful, friendly and kind. My room is beautiful and the size is just nice, i only wish the bathroom has a view instead of sealed up in frosted glass. The spa and swimming pool is on the 11 floor, the pool is very refreshing to swim in the afternoon, but it would have been nicer to face the sea than the city. Breakfast is very delicious, the host Mr.BALU is always there, smiling and guiding you to your table. BOHARAJ also serves everyone with a smile. I enjoy my stay here very much for 5 days and 4 nights. I will stay here again when i come back to Penang. The location is very good as it is just a short walk away to all the great street food !

There must be some give and take with guest, then only we can thoroughly enjoy the hotel and service. If the room is ready, please allow the guest to check in abit early. It's not compulsory but it will help to make the guest happy with customer service.

Highly recommended stay at Apple 1 Hotel Times Square , Penang I couldn't believe the price that we paid (RM65 via Agoda ) for we get a very comfortable room with a bathtub! The room was spacious & clean! The hairdryer is strong as well. Only downside is that the carpark is limited & there is no refrigerator in the room. It is located next to Penang Times Square unfortunately that mall almost all retails is closed. However, it is of walking distance to a really good steamboat restaurant (their porridge hotpot is a must try) - 锅香府特色火锅专卖店 Guo Xiang Fu Steamboat Restaurant & in case you're a fan of Hand Made Tau Sar Piah & Tambun Biscuit, its of walking distance to 順香饼家 SOON HIANG Biscuit ! Yes, this is a budget Hotel. For around MYR 100 you get what you pay for. Great location, right in the action. Bars, Restaurants, hawker stalls, shops etc. Clean basic room, clean sheets, bed a little hard but still slept well. good A/C and shower facilities. There is hot and cold water 24/7 and a large balcony area with seating, overlooking the road where you can smoke vape and have a drink. Ironing station available. Only downside to this place is poor Wi-Fi. Could not get any internet in the reception area and definitely not in the rooms. Overall, an ok stay for a night or two. No problem recommending this Hotel.

I had a late check-in at the hotel, but the reception staff were very helpful and accommodating. Despite the late hour, they were friendly and efficient in getting me checked in and settled into my room. It was much appreciated after a long day of travel. It's hotel with a modern design and found it to be very clean. Happy to found a microwave to heat our takeaways. However, I had a difficult time finding parking in the area. Overall, the hotel was enjoyable, but the lack of convenient parking was a bit of a drawback. It would be great if they have a reserved parking spots for hotel guests.
