World Hostel - Old Town

Very clean and cozy rooms, each room is decorated in its own style! Very friendly staff! An excellent location near to the city centre, in a quiet area, yet not far from the railway station. There is a supermarket in the vicinity.

Booked direct. Written by an experienced traveller. I stayed here for four nights from Wednesday - Sunday. The bed was comfortable and there was a light and plug socket. Note that the plug socket is right in the corner of the bed, so it may be impossible to use if you have a big charger or adapter. The bedrooms have themes based on different capitals around the world. They are well designed. A towel was provided for free. Bunk beds don't have privacy curtains, but you could use a towel if is wide enough. The top bunk doesn't have a fall barrier and it can be difficult to get down from if you aren't very able because there is nothing to grip on. Each room has a high quality ensuite. However, there is no communal toilet in the building, which is odd and a bit annoying if the bathroom in your room is occupied! I've never known a hostel to not have a communal toilet. The bedroom door lock is quite stuff and heavy and makes a sound when it is operated, which can be annoying at night. The lockers in the rooms are high quality accessible through your key card. They also make an annoying sound when operated, which is disturbing at quiet times. The kitchen and breakfast is high quality. Oddly there was no cylinder to drain pasta, but there one appeared two days later out of nowhere. During my stay there were several parties of guests, who were loud and disturbing. They played loud music until they went out at 11pm. Another group on a different day decided to sit outside on the patio at 6am to drink and be loud. They left all of their bottles. Some drunk guests were also floating around and it felt a bit intimidating. The breakfast was comprehensive and nice. The hostel is next to the canal and 3 minutes walk to the nearest supermarket. There was no AC in the bedroom. Fortunately my room had three windows and a fan, but I don't think all rooms has this many windows. I'd stay here again and recommend the hostel, but there were some things that were slightly annoying and reduced the quality of the stay. The building feels like a large house with some classical decorations and furniture.
