I stayed for three nights in Dali, and throughout the trip, The Edison was one hotel where I could find almost no fault with the property itself.
First, I really loved the hotel's overall architecture and garden design. It doesn't just aim for luxury; instead, there's a strong sense of cohesion from the architecture, water features, and gardens to the interior spaces, and everything is meticulously maintained. What particularly impressed me was that the hotel's water surfaces even had solar-powered devices, like 'aquatic robot vacuums,' automatically clearing fallen leaves. These small details really show whether a hotel, beyond its design, genuinely puts effort into its daily management and maintenance.
The room also did not disappoint. From the bedding and toiletries to the bathroom facilities and the overall quality of the room, everything met a very high standard. The modern amenities in both the public areas and the rooms were excellent; I basically found nothing uncomfortable or something I had to compromise on during my stay.
The service and activities were also a huge plus in this experience. During my three-night stay, I participated in hotel-organized activities such as a visit to Wuwei Temple, tea picking, and morning runs, all led by staff. For a resort hotel, I really appreciate this kind of arrangement – it's not just about staying in your room or by the pool every day, but being able to truly connect with the surrounding nature and local culture through hotel-arranged activities.
If there was any regret about this stay, it's that three nights felt a bit too short. The hotel itself has many spaces and activities worth slowly experiencing, and if I come back in the future, I'd hope to stay for a few more days.
If I absolutely had to point out a shortcoming, most of what comes to mind isn't about the hotel itself, but rather the surrounding municipal and road conditions. Currently, the road conditions nearby are quite average, and it's a bit far from Dali city center, feeling more like a rural retreat. If your main purpose is frequent trips to the city, this is something to consider beforehand; but if you're coming to Dali for a holiday and hoping for a quiet few days at the hotel, I actually think this distance isn't necessarily a drawback.
Overall, from the architectural design, garden maintenance, room hardware, bedding and bathroom facilities, to the service and activity arrangements, this experience was very satisfying. My only real regret: the stay was too short.
