Dali Sheyu Secret Garden Inn (South Gate of Dali Ancient City)

This guesthouse is absolutely fantastic! If my travel plans weren't already set, I would seriously consider extending my stay just for this place. The owner is such a gentleman, and the courtyard is impeccably clean, tidied up every single day. The front desk staff, especially the 'little brothers' (young male attendants), are incredibly kind. The fresh flower cakes they offered were delicious (even better than the ones I bought myself!). And the little animals at the guesthouse are just too therapeutic; I had to go downstairs every day to pet them – they're so adorable!

I was overwhelmed by all the guesthouses and finally booked this one just a day before my trip. Soon after, the guesthouse manager called me, which was very thoughtful. The room was spacious, very comfortable for traveling with a child, and looked exactly like the pictures. It's very close to the ancient city, and you can get around mostly by electric scooter. The auntie cleaned our room spotlessly every day, and she, the manager, and the owner were all wonderful. We would often have tea and chat when we returned in the evenings. Most importantly, my child absolutely adored Niu Niu (the cow). Every day since we left, my child asks what Niu Niu is doing. The cats and dogs in the courtyard are a paradise for animal lovers! Missing the sunshine, clouds, mountains, sea, Niu Niu, and Garfield the cat of Dali.

A serene little courtyard, with plants artfully arranged in the garden, and lots of cute cats and dogs that the kids absolutely loved. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the tea room was very peaceful, perfect for quietly writing Buddhist scriptures. The breakfast was bountiful.

【Peaceful Heart】Yule·Buddhist Tea Space—Sutra Copying & Tea Tasting: The young men (staff) were very enthusiastic and helped with our luggage. The dog Niuniu and the cat were so adorable, we didn't want to leave and already miss them. A very satisfying stay!
