There are fewer restaurants near the hotel. You can go to the hot springs when you stay in the hotel. Although the facilities are very old, it is really comfortable to soak in the soup after hiking! ! The front desk does not speak English but the service attitude is very good, it is still very recommended
The Kumano Shikitei provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The Kumano Shikitei is an ideal choice for travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Tanabe. JR Shingu Station is located approximately 37km away while Nanki Shirahama Airport is 56km away. This hotel is located near many of Tanabe's attractions including 皆地いきものふれあいの里(旧皆地小学校), 熊野和紙体験工房 おとなし and Kumano Kodo Dainichietsu trailhead. This hotel makes a great place to kick back and relax after a long day of sightseeing.
The second time I lived, the last time was 8 years ago, the facilities were still clean and not significantly old. There is still the hospitality of traditional Japanese-style hotels. The hot springs are still good, and it is a relatively new hotel near the Dragon God.

We took the Ryujin Bus and arrived at Kamimota. It was not yet check-in time, but the hotel lady was already waiting at the door. Serve warm tea, introduce the hot spring time, ask about meal time, and carefully prepare for dinner in the room. After the meal, we made the bed and asked thoughtfully about the time for the next day's morning service and the time for the bus to leave. The whole process was considerate. It was very cold outside when we left, and the hotel lady asked us to wait in the hotel until the bus came to the door. When we left, he said goodbye to us warmly and waved until we left. The hot springs here are very good, the food is delicious, and the experience is great.
Although the location is relatively remote, the boss service is good, the spring quality is super good, it is a hot spring hotel that can be visited again.
When I arrived at Watase Onsen after dark in the evening, despite the language barrier, the uncle at the front desk took the initiative to use the translation software to explain in detail the use of the hotel’s facilities and the opening hours of the hot springs. Let us move in as soon as possible.
Amazing service from the moment we arrived to the date of our departure. Staff is very attentive. Food is amazing and presented well. Location is serene and a great change from the big cities. Rooms are perfect and just the type of Japanese village rooms and decor we were hoping for.
It is located in the countryside of Tanabe but the transportation is relatively convenient. This hotel is a member of the Secret Hot Spring Guardian Association, and the water quality of the hot spring is very good. The waiters were all local elderly people, and my lovely mother-in-law came to talk to me with a translator during dinner. The food is not luxurious, but it is still quite traditional and authentic Japanese home-cooked food.
The location of the hotel is very good, the attitude of the waiter is also very good ~~ When I checked in, I ran into the sunset and fell into the sea. It was really beautiful; because it was off-season, the open-air soup on the roof was simply our private soup. Listening to the sound of the waves outside the railing, raising your head to find the stars in the night sky ~~

Outstanding
CCEL_LLarge room with a great view of sea, clean and cozy.
I was arriving late which passed the check-in hours due to flight delay. My sim card cannot make phone calls in Japan and I was afraid of not being able to check in. Fortunately, the front-desk gentleman was waited for us until midnight and helped us check in. And he guided us to find the vending machine to find the food even not speaking English. It’s a very positive experience to live here.
GGuest UserAlthough the room is not big, it is enough for one person. The hotel is close to the railway tracks, so you can clearly hear the sound of the train passing by. The hotel provides a check-in booklet for the Kumano Kodo, which is very convenient for late guests. The breakfast is simple but filling. In addition, I received a small gift when I checked in on Christmas Day, and the front desk also provided free oranges. Considering the price, this hotel is very cost-effective.
YYongrenzhaowulingwangThe station is right next to it, so it's easy to find the hotel, and it's also very convenient to travel the next day!
The hot spring ♨️ is also very good, with two indoor pools and an outdoor pool that is very unique. It's a real open-air hot spring. Because it's cold, you need to wear the clothes provided. I felt a little cold after coming out of the bath, so I didn't go!
The dinner is a buffet, the beef pot is delicious, and there is a ** soup that is also very delicious! It is worth recommending to stay!
__SamW_Stayed for two consecutive days, the attitude of the hotel staff is very good, English can communicate, no matter what the problem can be very enthusiastic and try your best to help you solve it
1. There is a free shuttle bus to the Prince of Faxin Gate and the Palace Grand Society every day. In addition, the front desk can arrange a shuttle bus for free from the hotel to the bus stop.
2. Please arrange for large luggage to be sent to the next hotel at the front desk (a little fee may be paid for hotels too far away, free of charge for hotels close to the hotel)
3. Please prepare lunch box at the front desk
4. The private soup of the family is very clean and comfortable. When there is no one, you can ask for one person.
Food was delicious for dinner! A very recommended hostel!
QQinglingThe location is still very good, but the room is too small... The space planning is very compact, and everything is included. The price is indeed cheap, so the overall cost-effectiveness is very high. It is a good choice for people like us who only stay for one night and leave. The scenery on the Kumano Kodo is so beautiful
AAnonymous UserIt is very close to the station, and you can even connect to the wifi in the room at the station (
A long history, but well-equipped, clean and tidy
The boss is also very nice, and the stay is very happy
GGuest UserKind of annex of the sister hotel next door. In the annex is an onsen, washing machine and dryer (free to use), vending machines with beer and drinks and noodles. Room is basic. I had a great view on the river. Small balcony, but dirty and no chair. The annex is okay to stay if you are hiking.
The best thing is the sister hotel. A great onsen with outdoor bath. Nice souvenir shop with a bit more food. Staff are super friendly and helpful.
They also provide bus services (bring and pickup to Hongu Taisha, the other onsen places, the trailhead busstop) which you can use! Just call them if you want to be picked up.
I did not realize Kawayu Onsen is a very small place with NO supermarket. If you did not book breakfast (served at the sister) bring your own into town or eat instant noodles.
There are 2 small restaurants with delicious local food.
GGuest UserThe room was very clean. The landlady was kind and could communicate in Chinese using a translation software. I ordered her breakfast for 800 yen and it was very comfortable. I didn’t know what to choose from the meal. I just ate what she made and I was very satisfied. This B&B can pick you up from the station. I don’t speak Japanese, so I can only walk there. When I left, she drove me to the station. I liked it very much! The bus runs twice a day, and it’s difficult to take a taxi. The pick-up and drop-off is very pleasant.
AAnonymous UserFacilities: The room is so small, almost the box can't be spread out.
Hygienic: It is still relatively clean.
Environment: Not far from the station, very close to the food street Weiguang Road.
Service: The old lady does not speak English and communication is a bit difficult. Storage of luggage for one day is also charged.
