Genting does not have clear dry and wet season like some tropical destination. Because of the highland location, the weather stays cool throughout the year.

For planning purposes, Genting can be broadly divided like below:

Season

Months

Weather

Best For

☀️ Relatively Drier Season

Cool, cloudy and wetter

Shopping, indoor attractions, dining

🌤️ Transition Period

💡 Singapore Traveller Tip: There is no guaranteed dry season in Genting Highlands. If you want the best chance of enjoying outdoor attractions, check the weather in Genting shortly before your trip and keep an indoor backup plan.

☀️Relatively Drier Season

🌤️ Weather

The Southwest Monsoon from late May to September is generally the drier period in Malaysia. However, Genting can still experience showers and thunderstorms.

The temperatures are around 18°C to 22°C with possible thunderstorms, showing that rain can still occur during this period.

👕What to Wear

Pack comfortable clothes with a light jacket, hoodie or cardigan for cool weather. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended if you're exploring the attractions.

Bring a compact umbrella or rain jacket too as showers can still occur.

🌤️ Weather

The Northeast Monsoon runs from November to March and is Malaysia's rainy season. Pahang is the among states can be affected by heavier rainfall during this monsoon.

Genting Highlands remain cool and misty making this period suitable for who don't mind occasional rain.

👕What to Wear

Bring a waterproof jacket or umbrella together with a hoodie or light jacket.

The combination of rain, wind and high elevation can make Genting feel quite chilly especially in the evening.

  • Exploring indoor attractions
  • Visiting Ripley's Adventureland
  • Enjoying cafés and restaurants

April to May and October fall between Malaysia's main monsoon periods. Weather can be more changeable, with a mix of sunny periods, clouds and rain.

These months can be a good choice if you want to avoid the busiest holiday periods while still enjoying Genting's cool mountain climate.

My husband suggested this place for our 33rd marriage anniversary and I'm thankful that we came for our 4 nights stay here! We stayed at the Deluxe King Room. Firstly the immediate response with an official/personal email from the GM Mr Tony Teh acknowledging our booking and asking if we needed anything - this is exceptional and personal which gives us such warm feelings even before we started our stay! We forgot to notify in advance about our anniversary, yet upon check in, Mr Hykal who attended to us assured us that he would check about the matter. And just happened Ms Lynn who is the Public Relations in charge was at the Front Office received what I shared and she purposely made a special effort in making the special arrangements upon seeing my email reply to their GM. We chose the Sky Cafe to have our anniversary dinner - The special decorations done in the room (as a surprise to my husband) and the special table set-up for our dinner with a special discount for our anniversary dinner. On top of it the Chef Mr Phyo personally blessed us with his special-bake chocolate cake! The GM personally came up to the Sky Cafe to meet with us, such warmth and kindness! Upon arrival as we were lazy to go out, we ordered room service and the nasi goreng was super yummy! The daily breakfast is amazing - food is delicious (had the chance to chat with the Chef Shahrul), with different spreads throughout our four days. All the staff in the Breakfast place are exceptionally friendly, polite, helpful and always with smiles! These are the personnel that I managed to get their names - At the Front Office, Mr Hykal and Mr Sharul were the first who attended to us with the rest who were very helpful to our enquiries as well: Sofy, Najwa & Syirah. A special shout-out to the Housekeeping team under the leadership of Mr Hafis - who did such a great job in making such special decorations in the room! The Sky Cafe Team who served us during our anniversary dinner - Mr Azrael, Ms Fazlin and Chef Mr Phyo. And the Restaurant great team inside the kitchen and outside the restaurant area under the Manager (I can't recall his name) who were very attentive! Ohh, the night views of Genting Hilltop from the Rooftop Pool area - superb! Mr Tony Teh, you have a great asset - your Team is amazing! Thank you for making our 33rd anniversary a memorable one, and we are already considering coming back again!

The hotel front desk staff were friendly, and there was a Chinese-speaking attendant, so language wasn't an issue. The room was spacious, clean, bright, and luxurious! They even provided beautiful complimentary refreshments! The view from the window was especially good, with the clouds in the mountains below us. It's a shame the weather wasn't great during our stay, as it was very foggy.

Hotel is further up so pros is nice views, cons is harder to get grab (if you don’t drive/rent vehicle). Convenient location as McDonald delivery also manage to deliver to hotel location. There is also food, Marts, laundry etc in 1 km. Saw some tourists walk down as well. Hotel has 2 toilet, small tv not able to play Netflix etc unless you have HDMI to connect your own devices. There is one bedroom without aircon as its door is sliding door (queen bed) so got to leave it open slightly to get the hallway aircon.

We still rated 5 stars as our stay was great overall. Just wanted to let you know that even though the ”DO NOT DISTRUB” sign was on, my friend saw staff and the manager opening her door room. Nothing was missing. The air conditioner also couldn't be adjusted, but everything else was fine.

We had a splendid staycation here at Geo Resort & Hotel. Starting with a smooth check in process, easy access parking, there were mini stalls just outside the hotel lobby until 10pm, the hotel located very near to lots of eateries & convenient stores. We had our dinner at Mohd Chan just walking distance from the hotel. The hotel room was cozy & clean enough. The amenities provided were good, I love the shower gel & shampoo because they smelled so refreshing. The breakfast spread was limited but tasted excellent! Please try their roti canai, so good! I would recommend this hotel to anyine coming to Genting Highlands. We look forward for our next staycation here.

The hotel service was good, and the facilities were complete. The breakfast selection was limited and the taste was average. The hotel is connected to Wintown, which is very convenient. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Although the view was open, it was often foggy and unclear.

I had a pleasant stay at Awana Genting Resort. The resort is surrounded by lush greenery, offering a peaceful escape from the busy city. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, with beautiful views of the surrounding hills. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. The facilities, including the swimming pool and dining options, were well maintained and enjoyable. The complimentary shuttle service to Genting Highlands was also very convenient. If you're visiting with family, bring a picnic mat, some snacks, a kite, and bubble toys for the kids. There's a big field for children to run around and play while you relax and enjoy the surroundings. The beautiful greenery and fresh mountain air make it a perfect spot for a simple family picnic and a relaxing day outdoors. Overall, Awana Genting Resort is a great choice for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with easy access to Genting Highlands. I would happily stay here again and recommend it to families, couples, and anyone seeking a quiet retreat in nature.

The facilities are complete, and it's within walking distance to convenience stores and some restaurants. It's also a 10-minute drive to the freshwater seafood restaurants in Gotong Jaya. It's a bit far from Genting Theme Park, but this trip was mainly about enjoying the cool weather and family time, which is why we chose to stay here. The elevators get crowded, so you need to check out early, otherwise, you'll be waiting for the elevator for over half an hour.

The water pressure from the shower is low, one of us had to shower cold water until we manage to figure out the water pump. The host sent their maintenance guy to fix the water pump the next day at 9am (when we were still sleeping). Couldn't find the AC remote, took us 30 minutes to final find it next to one of the beds. The kitchen sink was clogged and making noise. Parking is a hassle as it's open air and you need to park quite a distance if you get back late. It was raining when we arrived, so we were all soaked due to the open air parking. We called the host at 12am to ask about the water pressure, he was responsive and helped us (over the phone) to sort it out. Water pressure is still low, but I guess that's the ”normal” pressure. Room can fit 6 adults comfortably. Good sound proofing.

I hardly know where to start... This is the largest howling the world, check-in is 100% automated, the rooms quality and view vary a lot at the ferry same price, and in order to rectify any problem the queue to the reception staff may well reach 250+ people, with waiting time UP TO SEVEN HOURS! What is great there though, Are tha views from those rooms that have it (most of them don't) and vrwelcoming and professional reception and housekeeping staff. My problems were attendee very efficiently once I got hold of supervisors. What truly shocked me us total absence of in-room internet, wired or wireless, free or chargeable. Come on, it's 2026th!!!

Peak Season

Best for: Families, school holidays, events and festive trips

Months: June, August, September and December

Genting Highlands becomes particularly busy during Malaysian and Singapore school holidays, public holidays and major festive periods.

December is one of the busiest times because families travel during the year end school holidays and Christmas period.

If you're travelling from Singapore during school holidays, book your Genting Highlands hotel and transport early to get more choices.

Shoulder Season

Best for: Better balance between crowds and weather

Months: February to May and July to October

Shoulder periods can be a good choice if you want to enjoy Genting without the busiest holiday crowds.

You'll also have more flexibility when choosing hotels and planning your itinerary.

For a quieter trip, try travelling on weekdays rather than weekends.

Off Peak Season

Best for: Budget travellers and relaxed stays

Months: Selected weekdays outside school holidays

There isn't one fixed off peak season in Genting Highlands because crowds depend heavily on Malaysian and Singapore school holidays, weekends, public holidays, concerts and special events.

For better value, consider a weekday stay outside school holidays.

You can also focus on indoor attractions and hotel facilities if the weather turns rainy.

Major Events That May Affect Your Trip

🎤 Concerts and Live Performances

Resorts World Genting regularly hosts concerts and entertainment at its venues. The 2026 calendar includes a wide range of Malaysian and international performances.

If you're travelling for a particular concert, expect higher demand for nearby hotels around the event date.

BUNGA 2026 was held at Resorts World Awana from 3 to 7 June 2026 and marked the first edition of its flower festival.

🥭 Genting Durian Festival

🎄 Christmas and New Year

Travel Tips for Singapore Travellers

Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park

1. Avoid Weekends for a Quieter Trip

Genting Highlands is a popular weekend getaway from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. If your schedule allows, visit from Monday to Thursday for a more relaxed experience.

2. Pack for Cool Weather

Genting Highlands sits at a much higher elevation, so temperatures can feel chilly, especially at night and when it rains. Bring a light jacket, hoodie and comfortable shoes.

3. Check the Weather Before Leaving

Genting's weather can change quickly. Check the forecast before travelling and keep an umbrella or rain jacket in your day bag.

4. Check Genting SkyWorlds Operating Dates

Genting SkyWorlds currently operates from 10am to 6pm and is closed every Tuesday except Malaysian public holidays and school holidays. Check the official calendar before planning your visit.

5. Book Attractions in Advance

If Genting SkyWorlds is the main reason for your trip, consider buying tickets online ahead of time.

6. Stay Overnight If Possible

A one day trip can feel rushed, especially if you're travelling from Singapore. Staying one or two nights gives you more time to explore the theme park, shopping areas, restaurants and other attractions.

7. Plan Indoor Activities as a Backup

Rain doesn't have to ruin your Genting trip. Keep shopping, dining and indoor attractions in your itinerary so you can easily change plans when the weather turns wet.

8. Take Advantage of Hotel Guest Early Access

Resorts World Genting and Resorts World Awana hotel guests currently have exclusive early access to Genting SkyWorlds from 9:30am, before general admission.

💡 Pro Tip: Stay connected during your trip with a Malaysia eSIM for easy mobile data and navigation without hassle.

Final Thought for Planning Genting Holiday

Genting Highlands

The best time to visit Genting Highlands depends more on crowds and your preferred activities than on finding a completely dry season.

For a quieter getaway, February to April and selected weekdays from October to November are good options. If you're travelling with children, the June and December school holidays are convenient but usually busier.

Genting Highlands is also a great year round destination because you can combine outdoor attractions with shopping, dining, entertainment and indoor activities.

For the best overall experience, plan your trip around your main activity, check the weather forecast before leaving Singapore, and book your Genting Highlands hotel and attractions early if you're travelling during school holidays or a major event.

With its cool mountain weather, theme parks, shopping, restaurants and entertainment, Genting Highlands remains an easy short getaway for Singapore travellers.
