Austria Arrival Card: Entry Requirements & Form

You are planning on a holiday at the Vienna, Austria but you should know whether you need to complete an Austria arrival card or any entry form before flying.

The good news is that Austria does not currently have a standard tourist arrival card that all international tourists must complete before arrival.

Instead, Austria is a part of the Schengen area so non EU travellers that enter to Schengen country will need to do EES.

Do You Need an Austria Arrival Card?

There is no separate Austria arrival card to fill in online before travelling but international tourist who are non EU travellers need to be inform about Entry/Exit System (EES).

Austria's official information states that EES is used to register eligible third-country nationals that travels to the Schengen area for short stays up to 90 days.

And yes, EES is not same thing as an arrival card but it just a border management system that used at the external Schengen border.

Depends on the circumstances, border authorities may register information such as your travel document details and biometric information.

Austria Customs Declaration

Although there is no general Austria arrival card, the customs declaration still required depends on what you bring into the country.

When you are entering Austria from a non Eu country, certain goods must be declared such as the goods that are not intended for personal use, goods that are exceeding applicable duty free allowances and goods subject to import restrictions or prohibitions.

But if you have nothing to be declared, you can normally use the appropriate customs channel where available.

Bringing €10,000 or More Into Austria

There is no separate declaration requirement for large amounts of cash but if you are enter or leave the EU carrying €10,000 or more, you must declare it to the customs.

Travellers can use the relevant customs declaration procedure and undeclared cash may be detained.

What Happens When You Arrive in Austria?

Arriving from a Non-Schengen Country

If Austria is your first Schengen destination, you will normally go through:

1. Passport and border control
2. EES procedures, where applicable
3. Baggage collection
4. Customs
5. Exit into the arrivals area

If your documents and entry requirements are in order, you can continue your trip.

Arriving from Another Schengen Country

If you have already entered the Schengen Area in another country, you generally will not go through another routine external Schengen border check when continuing to Austria.

However, you should still carry your valid travel document.

For Singaporean, travelling to Austria for a short tourist trip, there is no standard Austria arrival card that needs to be completed before departure.

Austria may not have traditional arrival card but that does not mean there are no entry procedures.
