Scholars Hotel (Hangzhou West Lake Wulin Square Zhejiang University)

The hotel is conveniently located with bus stops nearby, making it easy to get around. The room wasn't very spacious but had all the necessary amenities. On our first morning, the breakfast selection was very limited because a large group of students on a spring outing had checked in, and the hotel didn't replenish the food in a timely manner, which was a poor experience. Things were better the second day. A nice touch is that the hotel offers late-night snacks in the lobby.

GINLAN JIA Resort Longjing Hangzhou

Very Good

Our stay at Landison Longjing Resort Hangzhou was so memorable and absolutely magnificent that highlights remain sharp, vivid, and immensely uplifting. As tea lovers, it would have been lovely enough to be back in deciduous forests with bursting red maples and bright yellow Ginko trees accentuating autumn colors surrounding the beautifully manicured Longjing (Dragon Well) tea plantations that rest quietly within the hills of the peaceful landscape so very close to the resort—next to and just across the street, in fact! However, our trip’s joys skyrocketed with our stay at the Landison. The staff was totally fantastic! Exceptional service in every way. Working with a phone translator Tracy, Brandy, Wen Yi (I hope his name is spelled correctly!), and Chris provided patient, attentive, and thorough care, concern, and heartwarming attention as they fully considered and answered our many daily questions on where to go, what to do, how to get there and back. (We were thrilled to use the excellent public transportation in and around Hangzhou. The hotel is just meters from the bus stop of two main lines. These buses provided easy connections to other main lines linking us to much of the rest of the city) Staff also guided us where to buy excellent tea, which turned out to be right there at the hotel, as well as from other lovely teashops nearby! Landison’s breakfast menu, included in our booking, remained the same throughout our stay and never disappointed. Every day we enjoyed a large selection of beautiful, delicious food that included fresh fruit, vegetables, egg dishes of differing styles, rice, dim sum, pastries, and our go-to each day: a piping hot bowl of noodles, prepared to order by the chef standing behind the varied selection of noodles and fixings! There was so much fresh, delicious, interesting, vegetarian cuisine we can’t account for the entire extensive buffet. The dining staff was totally incredible with their refined, careful, complete attention. Dining Room Manager Xu became our dear, memorable friend, offering us sweet, caring personal attention and comfort throughout our visit. We couldn’t help feeling disappointed when we didn’t see her the day before we were to leave. When we returned to the hotel for the evening and saw her through a dining room window, we popped into the area to say hello and a magical connection manifested that only world travel can provide, when the distance between two vastly different cultures disappears under the glow of human kindness, warmth, and connection. She provided such outstanding delight for us that our hearts hurt when we had to say goodbye to her. When she translated on her mobile phone, “looking forward to seeing you again,” we smiled broadly and added a very hopeful nod in agreement. Extra lovely perks included nightly delivery of a delicate, nourishing white mushroom soup to keep us warm and help us sleep, a specialty of the establishment. It was tasty and nurturing every day! The housekeeping staff was amiable and friendly, mutually acknowledging and appreciating the human relationship!  In addition, the parking area staff offered cheerful, welcoming, and happy engagement with us throughout our stay. Our extraordinary stay at the Landison is the kind of experience that highlights the vast benefits of world travel where the barriers of worldly concerns and tensions can fade away or even disappear into the significant and transformative mix and engagement with a time and place different from where we come from or know habitually. Where one realizes that, although time and place may differ considerably and provide many positive catalysts for meaningful change, the human heart and mind are inextricably linked together by way of mutual desires for happiness, well-being, safety, expression, and connection, however that may unfold in its immeasurable arrangements. Thank you very much, Landison Longjing Resort Hangzhou, for helping to create an amazing lifetime memory.

When I first arrived in Qiandao Lake, I kept wanting to go out and explore. But after seeing a few attractions, I realized that the best way to experience Qiandao Lake is by simply relaxing. Every morning, I'd wake up and open the curtains to stunning lake and mountain views. In the evenings, there was no need to brave the crowds at Tianyu Mountain; the hotel offered the perfect spot for sunset views. It was in Qiandao Lake that I truly understood the meaning of a vacation.

We had a wonderful stay at Banyan Tree and were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a two-bedroom villa. The villa was beautifully decorated and thoughtfully designed, offering both comfort and a memorable experience. The breakfast was excellent, and we particularly appreciated the effort made to accommodate our strict vegetarian dietary requirements. The buggy services were consistently prompt and efficient. The resort’s location amidst the wetlands provides a unique and tranquil natural setting, though some guests may find it slightly secluded. Communication through WeChat was smooth and responsive. We would also like to especially commend Samiksha, the intern, and the dining team member who spoke both English and Chinese fluently. Their attentiveness and willingness to help significantly enhanced our experience. As areas for improvement, the swimming pool water could have been warmer, and the addition of facilities such as a sauna or jacuzzi would further elevate the guest experience. Overall, we had a very enjoyable and well-managed stay and truly appreciated the warm hospitality of the team.

For our two-night stay in Wuzhen, we chose 'Jintang'. Upon arrival at the scenic area, we were greeted by the handsome and steady 'Xiao Fan' at the entrance. He arranged a sculling boat for us, which took us along the waterway directly to Jintang. Pushing open the two-story antique wooden doors, we were met with a striking combination of vermillion and emerald green. It was a perfect blend of the ancient and the modern. As I savored a cup of crimson hibiscus tea, Xiao Fan had already completed our check-in. He also set up our facial recognition for entering and exiting the scenic area. Xiao Fan then led us through the hall and around the landscape to our room. The room featured dark green wallpaper adorned with plum blossoms, complementing a vermillion bronze bed. With the tea snacks and afternoon tea on the table, accompanied by refreshing green tea, our three-day Wuzhen journey officially began. A big thank you to the thoughtful service from the lovely ladies and gentlemen at Jintang, and especially to Xiao Fan!

I was planning a weekend trip to West Lake and after comparing several options, I decided on this hotel. Its location is definitely the biggest highlight. It's just a 10-minute walk to the Hubin Scenic Area, with various shops and greenery lining the streets. After exploring West Lake during the day, an evening stroll back along the same path is incredibly relaxing. There are also plenty of dining options nearby, so finding a place to eat is never an issue. The front desk staff were wonderfully kind and polite. When I arrived with a lot of luggage, they immediately offered to help carry it and even brought me warm water to ease my travel fatigue. The check-in process was quick and efficient. Upon learning that my elder travel companion is a light sleeper, they proactively explained the noise differences between room orientations and even offered to show us different rooms so we could compare them firsthand. The entire conversation felt reassuring and stress-free; they didn't try to push us into more expensive rooms. The room's cleanliness showed great attention to detail. The floors were swept and wiped thoroughly, there was no dust on the tables or windowsills, and the bedding was fluffy and dry. The bathroom's floor drain and mirror edges were free of water stains or grime, and the toiletries were neatly arranged and complete. The windows offered good sound insulation, blocking out most of the street traffic noise, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. When I needed an extra pair of slippers, they were delivered to the room promptly after a quick call to the front desk. Upon checking out, the staff again helped me with my luggage and even thoughtfully advised on the varying crowd levels at West Lake throughout the day, recommending less crowded walking routes. It was considerate without being intrusive. Overall, everything was well-balanced with no obvious shortcomings, and the price fit my budget perfectly. The staff were diligent and attentive, and the environment was kept impeccably clean. Staying here made visiting West Lake very convenient. I would definitely prioritize this hotel for any future trips to Hangzhou.

We stayed here during the Dragon Boat Festival, which also coincided with a birthday celebration, and our family had a wonderful experience. The environment is absolutely stunning, and they offer a fantastic array of unique activities. Even though it rained for several days, keeping us mostly indoors, we were never bored. We enjoyed making 'zongzi' (rice dumplings), bamboo weaving, pottery, crafting mugwort bouquets, and making sachets – so many different crafts! There was also horseback riding, celebrating a pony's birthday, and even 'yoga' interactions with the horses. These novel and fun experiences delighted both adults and children. A big thank you to our butler, Joan, for her attentive and proactive service, and to the super nice staff at the equestrian center who interacted and chatted with my daughter, sharing their knowledge about horses. My daughter especially loved Ty, saying he was her favorite. Everyone, from the front desk to the restaurant and even the staff at the Naked Retreats cafe, had excellent service attitudes. While some dishes at the Western restaurant weren't quite to our taste, the restaurant manager handled our feedback gracefully from a customer's perspective. Overall, we are very satisfied and will definitely be back.

Service: The service attitude was superb, and the staff guided us through the check-in process from start to finish. Environment: The room was spacious, elegantly decorated, and the hotel was quiet and pleasant. Cleanliness: The room was spotless, and the entire hotel maintained excellent hygiene. Bedding: The sheets, duvet covers, and pillows were the best we've encountered in any hotel during this trip. The bedding felt incredibly soft against the skin, and the pillows were just the right firmness, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep. Food: While the breakfast selection wasn't huge, every item was exceptionally delicious and well-prepared. They had everything from NFC juice, milk, coffee, and soy milk to Coke and Sprite. I highly recommend the incredibly tasty xiaolongbao, and the freshly made beef noodles were absolutely fantastic – the beef was tender and soft, and the noodles had a great chew. Everyone should definitely try them! Parking: The hotel has its own parking spaces, which makes parking safe and worry-free. The most important thing bears repeating three times: You can feed squirrels in the hotel courtyard, you can feed squirrels in the hotel courtyard, you can feed squirrels in the hotel courtyard! This was a huge hit with the kids, allowing them to watch the squirrels eat up close. Finally, I'm giving a five-star review again. Hesheli Hotel received unanimous approval from our entire family, and we hope to have the chance to visit again in the future.

We stayed for one night with our parents and kids, and it was a fantastic experience! The butler, Crystal, created a group chat beforehand to confirm our arrival time and asked about the guests, recommending suitable floors and rooms – very thoughtful. The cliff-side room offers absolutely stunning views. At night, after Deqing city lights dim, you can stargaze. I initially thought the castle restaurant would be expensive, but after eating there, I found it to be excellent value for money. Although we had to wait a little, all the dishes were freshly prepared and of a very high standard, far surpassing any restaurant in the village at the foot of the mountain. For entertainment, there's an infinity pool, billiards, ping-pong, pottery, archery, and more. It's not crowded, so you can enjoy everything. For pottery, you need to queue early; we missed out at 10 AM. Friends told me the spa is also top-notch, so I'll try it next time. Finally, I have to mention the photoshoot. Each room gets three complimentary photos. The photographer was incredibly patient, and the photo editor was kind and beautiful. There was absolutely no hard-selling. I initially thought of buying a few extra photos, but then I was told that since we had three rooms, we could get nine photos! The photography, composition, and editing were simply superb. I also want to thank Crystal and Lily again for their patience and understanding. It was hot, which can be stressful, and we encountered a few minor issues. After effective communication, the cause was quickly identified and resolved efficiently. **Facilities:** The cliff-side room is fully equipped, and the pastoral cabin offers good value for money. **Hygiene:** Clean and tidy. There were some small insects in the castle during the evening. **Environment:** Absolutely stunning. **Service:** Probably the best service I've ever experienced in a hotel. **On-site travel photoshoot:** I've already reviewed it above. All I can say is it's worth the money. If it wasn't so hot, I would have done a whole session!

The room environment is beautiful, well-equipped, and the service attitude is excellent. On the first day of our stay, we enjoyed a complimentary afternoon tea with coffee, tremella soup, cheesecake, and chips – it was delightful and atmospheric. The hotel lobby's lounge area also offers books and tea options. The breakfast on the second day was predominantly Western style, with a rich variety of delicious and healthy options. The hotel's location is also great, not far from the subway station, and convenient for visiting Lingyin Temple and Feilai Peak. It’s a perfect place to relax with friends and family.
