Sofitel Hangzhou Westlake

The Sofitel Hangzhou Westlake, located at 333 West Lake Avenue, Shangcheng District, Hangzhou, is an older five-star hotel. The entrance looked a bit messy, and when my companion and I, both seniors, got out of the taxi with our luggage, no one offered to help. At the front desk, the young man spoke nicely and arranged a quiet room for us on a higher floor (the fifth floor). However, after checking in, we realized there was actually a sixth floor above us (the executive rooms we booked were already on the fifth and sixth floors). It felt a bit like a bait-and-switch. We occasionally encountered staff who were mostly expressionless, though the cleaning lady on our floor was very kind and polite. The so-called executive room had a window that faced directly onto another building, only about twenty meters away. If it were summer, it would be inconvenient to open the curtains during the day. The room had good soundproofing, and we barely heard any outside noise at night. However, the bathtub didn't come with a disposable liner, making it practically useless. In the evening, we went to the fifth-floor restaurant for the happy hour special, and the two young ladies serving there were very pleasant. The hotel's swimming pool is quite small and has limited operating hours. The rooftop garden is very nice and offers a great view of most of West Lake.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, with West Lake just a short stroll through an underpass. The decor exudes a strong old money French aesthetic, and the staff at the entrance are incredibly attentive. Contrary to some reviews, the bathroom facilities were not outdated, and the elevators were surprisingly fast. The hotel's top floor offers a prime, panoramic view of West Lake.

The hotel is located on West Lake Avenue, directly across from West Lake, which is incredibly convenient. Our room was on the fifth floor, very close to the executive lounge. While the food selection in the lounge wasn't vast, the quality was excellent. The Happy Hour timing was perfect, allowing us to watch the beautiful sunset over West Lake. Overall, we were very satisfied.

The hotel's location is super convenient, making it easy to get to Intime Department Store and West Lake. The staff are really friendly; from the cleaning ladies to the lobby manager, everyone is so welcoming and warm, making you feel right at home. However, because the hotel is a bit older, the TV and air conditioning are quite dated. The TV is tiny, and the AC makes a lot of noise when it's running, plus the room isn't very big. Breakfast is very basic and doesn't offer any Hangzhou specialties – probably due to cost control, it's mostly vegetarian dishes and pickles. There's really no need to opt for breakfast included. P.S. If there's a wedding happening, I'd suggest they try to give rooms near the event space to the wedding guests. Otherwise, regular guests who aren't attending the wedding will be bothered by the loud music. You can literally feel the walls vibrating!

The location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk through the underpass to West Lake, which is very convenient when traveling with seniors and children. We visited West Lake four times in one day and two nights, which was totally worth it! Breakfast was plentiful. Waiter Xiao Shen was very warm and attentive.

The location is fantastic! It's just an underpass away from Yongjin Gate, a famous spot for viewing the West Lake sunset. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery by foot in the morning or evening. If you don't want to deal with crowds, you can also admire the West Lake view from the hotel's Diamond Terrace and Sky Garden. The room is spacious and quiet, and the toiletries have a lovely tea scent. The afternoon tea and light meals are delicious and, most importantly, very convenient. Hotel staff member Xiao Shen was incredibly thoughtful; he called ahead to understand my needs and made excellent arrangements. Definitely worth a second visit!

Sofitel Hangzhou Westlake boasts an excellent location, just a short walk to West Lake. The French-inspired lobby exudes a luxurious yet understated elegance, creating a quiet and sophisticated atmosphere. A staff member proactively contacted us to arrange details before check-in, and the overall experience was fantastic. Special mention goes to William at the lobby bar on the ground floor for his professional and attentive service, which significantly enhanced our hotel stay! The afternoon tea was visually stunning and delicious, making for a delightful and ceremonial experience. Our entire stay was perfect. This is definitely our top choice for future visits to Hangzhou – you won't be disappointed!
