Good stay at Jazz Hotel Penang 👍
Really satisfied with my trip here. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a bathtub and even a complimentary bath bomb which made the stay extra relaxing. Love the rooftop pool and the overall modern vibe.
Location is convenient — walking distance to Straits Quay and easy access to Gurney area for food. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
Overall a pleasant experience, will definitely come back again!
Location is good, right in the centre & within walking distance to eateries & shopping. Close nearby there’s the Hin Depot, it’s like a weekend flea market.
Hotel Service was great, the room that i booked was rather small, city view facing but sun was strong and day time, was abit hot as room window facing the sun. Going green is good, and water dispenser is provided on every floor for our refill. Can i suggest the bottles provided to have a wider opening as when refilling was rather difficult to avoid any spillage, especially taking the hot water
Hotel deco is very festive.
Five stars all around! Big shout-out to the friendly front desk staff. I was torn between JEN Hotel and Wembley, but ultimately chose Wembley because I saw reviews mentioning early check-in, which was a huge draw for me. It's also Chinese-friendly, and the front desk staff can communicate in Chinese. Even though rooms were very tight during Chinese New Year, the hotel still allowed me to check in quite a bit earlier. This gave me a precious three-hour nap, helping me avoid the hottest part of the day and making my first day of sightseeing rich and energetic. Wembley and JEN are just across the street from each other, but Wembley is on higher floors, offering a more expansive view. It's only about 700-800 meters to both Mural Street and the Clan Jetties. There are also plenty of shopping and food courts nearby. The hotel itself is well-maintained, and soundproofing is decent. My only minor complaint: For two adults and one child, we requested an extra comforter, but they brought a blanket instead. Using just a blanket requires quite some courage!
Really liked the hotel environment. The location is super convenient, right below Komtar. We came to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks, and after it was over, we could go straight upstairs to rest, no need to deal with crowds. The staff were also great, and the room was very clean.
The room was nice , big and clean. I asked them to put me in a more quiet room, and they did. The whole hotel was under renovation. So there is some noise during the day.
A relaxing stay and the location is tops. My go-to hotel each time I come to Penang which is often. Service at reception & the bell boys were very polite and professional. I appreciate the free buggy rides from the hotel to Gurney Plaza. There was beautiful Christmas decorations in the lobby and the buffet breakfast restaurant which lent a festive feel to the Season.
This time around, the only adverse feedback is that I am unsure if any vacuuming was done for my 3 night stay. I only asked for the room to be cleaned once after my 2nd night but a loose piece of long white thread in the middle of the carpet which was there for the past 2 days/nights remained in the same spot after the room cleaning was done.
It was the last hotel at the end of a two week trip in Malaysia. I chose it seeing it was closer to the airport.
It was perfect! A spacious room in a boutique hotel, and some pampering and rest before a long flight home.
Positives:
- Pool, was cool and busy.
- Complimentary drinks, were appreciated.
- Spacious room and bathroom.
- Loved the ‘Say No to Plastic’ environmental initiatives.
- Cafe space, food was tasty and reasonably priced.
- Staff were friendly and efficient.
- Convenient Store down stairs for snack and drinks.
- I asked for an extra hour for check out.
It’s in a residential area, next to a busy road. So it’s not a place to explore the local area and a GRAB is needed to get around.
However, a perfect STAY for the last day of holidays and it’s closer to the airport.
I'd say the value for money is decent. The room and views were both good. We didn't book breakfast, and the restaurants across the street seemed like local eateries, with many not open in the mornings, so we just bought instant noodles from the supermarket on our second day. It's quite close to the popular beach, and the swimming pool service was good. The housekeeping staff were also very polite and delivered things promptly. However, the only issue was that on the first day, there were no small towels in the room, and on the second day, there were no large towels, which is quite unacceptable. Also, the hotel beer is very expensive at 32 MYR a bottle, even more so than at the beach bars.
Overall, a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was comfortable and well maintained. The only minor issues were that the door was a bit difficult to push open and there was a small amount of dust in the corner of the room.
The food was good, although the variety could be improved slightly. The gym and pool facilities were both very good and well kept. Aside from these small details, everything else was perfect. I would happily recommend this hotel.
We stayed here for a family trip and overall it was a decent experience. The room was averagely clean and acceptable for a short stay. Basic amenities were provided, and everything was functioning properly.
The overall environment of the hotel was okay, but the property feels a little old and could benefit from some renovation or upgrading. However, it was still comfortable enough for our family to rest after a long day out.
In general, it’s suitable for families who are looking for a simple and practical place to stay, though not luxury.

GGuest UserThis hotel is quite a distance from the city center, even further than the Shangri-La by a few kilometers, located on the beach. There are no convenient facilities nearby, so you'll need to take a taxi to get around. However, a 2km taxi ride will take you to Dadong Seafood Restaurant. All the hotel rooms face west, offering sunset views. The gym is small and lacks equipment. There are two pools, but they are quite shallow. Housekeeping cleans twice a day, but I still noticed some stains on the bed linen. There were also small ants, which is to be expected in a beachfront hotel. During peak breakfast hours, you might have to wait. If you're looking for a quiet escape in Penang, this is the place. At least it's relatively new and offers decent value for money. During the Chinese New Year, they even had fireworks and a weekly 'iron flower' performance. It really made a great impression.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location is excellent, right next to the night market, and the sunset views in the evening are fantastic. There are lots of delicious food options nearby. The only downside is that it's a bit far from George Town, about a 20-minute motorbike ride or a 35-minute taxi ride. The hotel itself has a 5-star standard in terms of facilities, and the breakfast offers a wide variety. However, the hotel was incredibly crowded, probably because of Chinese New Year.

GGuest UserOur first night was unfortunately not good. Our room was on the 6th floor, directly under the pool area and pool terrace. We could clearly hear kids running around and chairs being dragged late into the evening.
The sound insulation of the building also seems quite weak. We could hear the couple in the neighboring room talking very clearly, and they were noisy throughout the night, which resulted in a sleepless first night.
The next morning we spoke to the hotel staff, and they arranged another room for us in the main building. This room was much better, and after that we were able to enjoy the rest of our stay.
The air conditioning was quite noisy, so we had to turn it off at night.
On the positive side, the location is very nice. There is a very good food court right next to the hotel, and George Town is about a 25-minute Grab ride away.
Overall, after changing rooms the stay improved significantly, but soundproofing could definitely be better.
SShuiyin407The mattress was incredibly comfortable, and the service was warm and welcoming, truly living up to five-star standards. The breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious, so much so that I felt it was even better than some of the street food in Penang – you could just eat here and skip those street stalls altogether. The shuttle bus to the ferry terminal was also very convenient. My English isn't great, so I didn't try to arrange a pick-up, but the hotel dropped me off at the terminal. From there, it was just a two-ringgit ferry ride across, which was really convenient. From the other side, you can walk to most of the main attractions. However, it's essential to visit in the morning and evening, as it gets extremely hot around midday. This seems to be the way to explore Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, and Penang – enjoy the sights in the morning and evening, then return to the hotel for a nap and a swim during the hottest part of the day. The pool area had a fantastic view, and swimming there was very refreshing. All these positives, combined with the excellent price, make this hotel highly recommendable.
TTini88We were a bit nervous after reading the reviews online but we had a really excellent stay. The rooms were super clean and modern with a beautiful sea view and the bed was really comfortable. The rooms had a kettle with teas, a hairdryer and iron and the shower was lovely and hot. Great AC too. The pool was lovely with a beautiful view of the sea and very nice and peaceful. The location was also great with a huge food market right opposite. Overall a really lovely stay
GGuest UserThe room facilities are a bit old. The swimming pool is great for young children, with a shallow area. However, I have two suggestions:
(1) As a family-friendly hotel, there are many children staying here. The bar in the lobby on the first floor plays loud music until 11 PM. It's the kind of high-energy music you'd hear at an APT. We were on the top floor (7th floor) and could still hear it clearly, which really affected our sleep.
(2) The Adventure Zone is open for 4 hours each in the morning and afternoon. It's a paid activity and you're only allowed in for 2 hours. This isn't really enough time for the kids to enjoy themselves. I think it would be better to either increase the ticket price or allow hotel guests to use it for the full 4 hours. That would significantly improve the experience.
