Coloane

Coloane is one of the four regions that make up Macau. The island features rolling hills and dense forests. With a lower level of development, it preserves the pace of a fishing village, contrasting with the urban landscape on the peninsula side.

Beaches are iconic views here. Hac Sa Beach is crescent-shaped, with fine black sand rich in glauconite. The beach is flat and open, with a dense belt of casuarina trees behind it, making it suitable for swimming and coastal walks. Cheoc Van Beach is quieter and features a water sports center nearby. If you enjoy forests, you can visit Coloane Shek Pai Wan Country Park, where the Giant Panda Pavilion is hidden deep in the shade. The country parks and hiking trails around Hac Sa Reservoir and Ka-Ho Reservoir connect the mountain and sea scenery. You can hike up the mountain road to reach the A-Ma Cultural Village on Alto de Coloane to visit the Tin Hau Temple complex and the A-Ma stone statue.

Coloane Village retains the charm of an old fishing village: Rua Cinco de Outubro stretches along the coast. The Coloane Library with its yellow exterior walls and green wooden windows, the Chapel of St. Francis Xavier along with Tam Kung Temple, and Kun Iam Temple, Coloane are not far from each other, making it a great place for a leisurely stroll and photos. Lord Stow's Bakery, the birthplace of the Macanese Portuguese egg tart, is also located here.
