We had an overall great stay at the Perhentian Marriott Resort. The property itself is beautiful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the island is absolutely stunning. The snorkeling experience was incredible and one of the highlights of our trip. Breakfast was also excellent every morning, with a great variety and quality of food. I also want to give special thanks to the manager for arranging birthday decorations in our room. It was such a thoughtful surprise and made the celebration feel extra special. We truly appreciated the effort and hospitality. Unfortunately, the dining experience was consistently disappointing on both nights of our stay, especially for a 5-star Marriott resort. We made birthday dinner reservations in advance, only to be told when we arrived that our reservation was no longer available. After finally being seated, it took over an hour for our food to arrive. We were also told that cocktails were not being served. When I asked the manager why, he didn’t know the reason either. After he spoke with the restaurant staff, they suddenly began serving cocktails, which made the situation even more confusing. To make matters worse, our waitress forgot part of our order, and overall the dining staff seemed disengaged and unwilling to help. The level of service simply did not reflect what I would expect from a Marriott property. It’s unfortunate because the resort itself is outstanding. The beautiful location, excellent breakfast, amazing snorkeling, and thoughtful birthday room decorations made our stay memorable. However, the food and beverage service needs significant improvement to match the quality of the rest of the resort. I hope management addresses these issues, because this property has the potential to deliver a truly exceptional 5-star experience.

If you're coming for the beach, and only for that please do go to this resort. One of the nicest beach in these Islands. Main issues where the lack of pressure in the shower ( cant get rid of the sand ) , the rooms and all of the commodities are outdated. The resort lives of the beach and its reputation. Food is alright, don't expect anything great from this. Taxi boats are mandatory to move around, price is doubled starting 7pm, so when you need to go outside to eat for example. No taxis when raining so be careful to not get stranded on the other side. Happened to us and we had to book a night in another hotel ( which was the best sleep we had our whole stay ) Rooms are decent, bed wasnt cleaned before we came in and was sandy / dirty. Lots of noise coming from the wildlife around the hotel, so if you're expecting a quiet stay, go elsewhere. The beach is very very nice, you can see turtles, sharks and lots of different species of fishes. The whole resort needs renovation. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5, and that's only because of the beach, the fishes and the sunny weather.

We had a wonderful stay and were truly impressed by the hospitality. All the staff were attentive, friendly, and always ready to help. The resort offers a beautiful view and is the perfect place for a beach getaway. The breakfast was delicious, although the selection was somewhat limited. We also enjoyed dinner at the restaurant by the river, where the food was excellent. Special thanks to Chef Ann for recommending some delicious dishes. There was a minor issue with our room during the stay, but it was handled professionally and resolved promptly by the hotel team. We greatly appreciate the efforts of all the staff, especially Mr. Ong and Ms. Liza, for their exceptional service and warm hospitality. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so enjoyable. We look forward to returning in the future.

The hotel enjoys a very strategic location, which is one of its strongest advantages. The proximity to the jetty makes arrival and departure especially convenient, as guests can simply walk directly between the jetty and the hotel. My experience with the service, however, was a mix of positive and negative. Prior to arrival, I emailed the hotel using the contact information provided on its website to request a table for my room, but unfortunately received no response. I eventually had to call the hotel to follow up. Although the arrangement was later confirmed through WhatsApp and I was informed that the table would be placed in my room before check-in, it was not there when I arrived. As a result, I had to visit the front desk to make the request again. To their credit, the hotel staff responded promptly and delivered a table to my room shortly thereafter. Another issue arose during check-out. As part of a group of 18 guests, we requested assistance in transporting our luggage to the nearby jetty. The front desk informed us that no assistance was available due to the busy check-in period. However, I later approached a staff member who had been handling the luggage trolley earlier during our stay, and he kindly agreed to help move all our luggage to the jetty. His willingness to assist was greatly appreciated and reflected a high level of customer service. Overall, the hotel offers an excellent location and some staff members demonstrated outstanding helpfulness. However, the consistency of service, particularly at the front desk, could be improved. Given the premium rates charged by the hotel, I believe guests would reasonably expect a higher and more consistent standard of service throughout their stay.

The hotel having a lounge at Terengganu Airport is a huge plus! Upon arrival, the lounge staff were incredibly helpful and quickly arranged our transfer to the jetty. Once we reached the island and checked in, everything was meticulously organized, with staff collaborating efficiently to manage all our bookings. Saiful, the restaurant manager, thoughtfully added me on WeChat to arrange our themed dinner, which was a very nice touch – thumbs up! Our customer relations manager, Hamdan, followed up throughout our stay, assisting with activity arrangements, answering all our questions, and checking in daily to see how we were doing, making us feel right at home – another thumbs up! Finally, I have to mention the fantastic location of The Taaras! The private beach view from our cliff suite was absolutely stunning! The room was spacious and well-laid out; our whole family loved it! With all the facilities at the hotel, there's no chance of getting bored. A tip for future visitors: the hotel has its own private airstrip on the island. Next time we come to Redang, we can fly directly from Kuala Lumpur with Taaras Air, saving us the hassle of the boat journey! All in all, The Taaras is the top choice for Redang Island!

The hotel os great, if you want that sea view, you will be walking up a lot of steps. Being an all inclusive, we took the basic all inclusive package. The food was delicious. Good selection for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was ok. The sunset bar is available if you miss lunch. Good facilities. Staff were great, special shout out to Athira at the sunset bar, she is lovely and the lunch/dinner staff. A few hiccups with the reception, but was all sorted by the manager. Double check room prices for extensions, boat prices etc. I would recommend this hotel. It is quiet and wonderful for couples. Water taxis are readily available to move around the islands tor day trips.

The room is large, with a courtyard, and a little bit of a Maldivian feel, but no hair dryer was found. The food is good, the taste is OK, the ingredients are fresh, and it is slightly more expensive than other nearby restaurants. The service is still quite enthusiastic, especially the on-demand food service staff for breakfast, who are very enthusiastic and proactively ask if there are any dishes that need to be ordered. Proactive service is precious and feels very good. However, the front desk service is perfunctory, seemingly enthusiastic but not solving the problem. After waiting for a long time, no one took the initiative to tell us that we can check in. We went to the front desk to ask, and a few chatty waitresses smiled and said that it was ok now. When we left, we missed the boat because the front desk arranged to wait for the water taxi. Obviously, we were very anxious and asked many times, but the front desk told us that there was no problem. The boat is often late. I asked them to call the shipping company to inform us that we have not boarded the boat yet, and I guess there was no communication. I was speechless. The service to customers should not be just superficial enthusiasm. I hope to really solve problems for guests instead of creating problems.

Our time at Summerbay Resort was really pleasant. Very friendly staff and very good service. The deluxe pool view room was clean and had good amenities and a nice view of the pool. At no point did it feel like this trip was not worth it. The beach in front of the hotel is wel maintained with plenty of baby black tip reef sharks to see while snorkeling. The included breakfast was good, with good food and plenty of seating. For dinner though I would advise to go to Seaview cafe. The dinners and the quality of the food are amazing. Special shoutout to chef Chris for cooking delicious dinners 10/10! We're writing this review as European guest. Communicating in English was not a hassle at all.

Its a last minute booking and we didn't select for any package. The service is good where they wait for us during arrival and help us to carry our bags, serve light refreshments during check in and the staffs also friendly. The service that need to improve is no staff is available during not peak hours, the call is not answered and the request to change the rusted kettle is being ignored. The amenities are old and not well managed. The floor is dusted, the mirror frame in the toilet is broken, the balcony wood also broken and it can be dangerous if small kid left alone. The food is good and the price is reasonable. We pay for the dinner buffet and its quite satisfactory.

Stayed for 3 nights. Overall, this place has so much potential. The kampung ambience is so peaceful and inviting. The old Istana (palace) transformed into rooms gave the kampung lifestyle feels. Just walking distance to the beach and the scenery of the whole resort is tranquil. Nevertheless, suggest to clean and restore the pond around the resort. Re-do the whole landscaping around the resort and plant all the local flowers, fruit trees and herbal plants. And to install more solar lights. With this new facelift of the whole sorroundings, will surely invite repeating guests. Shoutout to the friendly staffs too. (P/S: suggests to invest on bed bug spray for each room too)
