So, how about PIR? Let's start with the pros. The sea view is unbeatable, and it has its own long stretch of beach. I'd say it's the second-best on Perhentian Island, right after Long Beach, and definitely better than the two beaches below the Marriott. I even saw sea turtles, sharks, Nemo, and schools of fish while snorkeling – very satisfying! There are also monkeys, squirrels, lizards, and other small animals behind the resort.
The staff were very helpful, assisting with luggage from the jetty to the room and again at check-out, which was great. PIR also offers water taxi and island hopping tours, and the prices are quite reasonable.
You can also walk to other restaurants for meals. A whole fish cost 80 MYR, which is much cheaper than the 200 MYR at the Marriott.
Now for the cons. PIR's breakfast is absolutely terrible. Besides fried eggs, I really didn't know what to eat, though the watermelon was decent. Their regular meals are okay, similar in taste to Mama's. The soundproofing is definitely poor; you can hear conversations from the next room and even the sound of the waves. Also, the bed sheets weren't very clean. I'd recommend bringing your own bedding.
I would like to sincerely thank you for the wonderful hospitality, friendliness, and helpful service throughout my wife’s and my stay at Tanjong Jara Resort. From the smooth check-in until check-out, every moment made our stay truly enjoyable, memorable, and relaxing.
We had a very happy experience at the resort and would highly recommend Tanjong Jara Resort to our family and friends. It is definitely one of the best resort choices in Terengganu.
Special thanks and appreciation to Ai Li, Umah, Haziq, Ruzly, Angel, Amira, Athir, Yusri, Yanna, Khairi, and Aidil for their excellent service, warm hospitality, and dedication in making our stay so pleasant.
Thank you once again, and we hope to visit again in the future 😊
The stay was great and hassle free especially if you arrive at Pasir Panjang jetty (Long Beach) then it’s just a few minutes walk to the reception. Room was great but not exactly a wow affair. Daily replenishment of canned drinks and some snacks by the housekeeping service. A few complaints: The wifi in the room was horrible because they had multiple SSID and some of them did not work. Even going from the bedroom to the balcony require finding a different SSID. I suggest that the hotel hire a proper network tech who can advise on getting a unified Wifi SSID. It’s 2026. The technology is already there. Also the A/C compressor is placed at the same vicinity where you would sit so the blowing hot air was like a sauna. Suggestion for improvement: Put in water dispenser so that you don’t need to provide too many plastic bottles per day. I’ve seen some hotels and resorts doing this so it’s not beyond the realm of possibility. Just imagine how many plastic bottles being disposed everyday for such a small island. Overall, great little hotel/resort with nice view and excellent, modern architecture. There were just some niggling issues and practices that could easily be fixed, in my opinion.
Stayed here for 3 days and booked the Cliff Bay Suite for my husband’s birthday, honestly it was such a memorable experience.
From the start, everything felt well taken care of. A manager, Mei Ling was assigned to assist us, which made things very smooth. We arrived early and they kindly offered early check-in at 12PM-ish, so I could settle in and even continue working from the room, perfect little “work from hotel” moment.
We were welcomed with tea, and when we entered the room, the aircond was already turned on, super cooling and refreshing after the journey. They also prepared a birthday cake with a sweet message on the table, which made the surprise feel complete.
The room itself was beautiful, we got one of the highest floors, and the view was just amazing. Waking up to that ocean view really hits different.
Amenities were top tier. They provided L’Occitane for shower, shampoo, and lotion, didn’t even need to use my own. Requested a refill the next day and they sent it over quickly in the morning, very efficient.
The private beach is stunning and not crowded at all, which I really appreciated. Plenty of activities available too, free kayak, outdoor gym, and they can arrange dinner setups and snorkeling trips for you.
Transport was also seamless, they picked us up from Kampung Redang jetty and sent us back during checkout, so everything felt hassle-free.
Breakfast was great overall, quality and taste were there, but the variety was slightly limited. I was expecting a bit more selection, but still a very enjoyable spread.
Overall, the views, service, and experience were just beautiful. Definitely a place I would come back to again when visiting Redang 🤍
Stayed for 3 nights. Overall, this place has so much potential. The kampung ambience is so peaceful and inviting. The old Istana (palace) transformed into rooms gave the kampung lifestyle feels. Just walking distance to the beach and the scenery of the whole resort is tranquil. Nevertheless, suggest to clean and restore the pond around the resort. Re-do the whole landscaping around the resort and plant all the local flowers, fruit trees and herbal plants. And to install more solar lights. With this new facelift of the whole sorroundings, will surely invite repeating guests. Shoutout to the friendly staffs too. (P/S: suggests to invest on bed bug spray for each room too)
I honestly wouldn't recommend this place if you're purely looking for a relaxing vacation. First off, the hotel's design is poorly laid out with winding paths and lots of uphill climbs. You'll rely entirely on buggies to get around. To reach the beach, you have to descend over 200 steps. The restaurant has limited seating and the food selection isn't extensive. Breakfast only runs until 10:30 AM, and housekeeping only cleans once a day. The staff's efficiency isn't great; they often forget things you've told them. On our last day, they came to pick up our luggage at 10:30 AM for a 12 PM ferry. Of course, there are some positives. The hotel's diving center is very professional and has a great attitude. Even though I only signed up for snorkeling, our guide, a lovely lady with a sweet voice, accompanied our group of four the entire time, showing us many corals and fish.
Although the food selection was limited, the taste was good. The hotel's location was relatively secluded, making it suitable for travelers who prefer quiet. When we first entered the room, we were struck by the strong smell of paint. The staff said it was from freshly painted rooms, but the smell made us feel dizzy and nauseous. We asked to change rooms, but the other rooms also had a strong smell. The pillows looked clean, but they were full of mold. There were many ants in the room, everywhere. I slept in one night and got several bites.
We loved everything about our stay. I was here with my best friend it was so relaxing with a beautiful location. The breakfast is very good and staff always helpful and available. We went snorkeling, and saw so many fishes, turtles and sharks🪸😍. I’ll come back for sure ! Thank u bubu 🫶🏼🌞
Its a last minute booking and we didn't select for any package. The service is good where they wait for us during arrival and help us to carry our bags, serve light refreshments during check in and the staffs also friendly. The service that need to improve is no staff is available during not peak hours, the call is not answered and the request to change the rusted kettle is being ignored.
The amenities are old and not well managed. The floor is dusted, the mirror frame in the toilet is broken, the balcony wood also broken and it can be dangerous if small kid left alone.
The food is good and the price is reasonable. We pay for the dinner buffet and its quite satisfactory.
Our time at Summerbay Resort was really pleasant. Very friendly staff and very good service. The deluxe pool view room was clean and had good amenities and a nice view of the pool. At no point did it feel like this trip was not worth it. The beach in front of the hotel is wel maintained with plenty of baby black tip reef sharks to see while snorkeling.
The included breakfast was good, with good food and plenty of seating.
For dinner though I would advise to go to Seaview cafe. The dinners and the quality of the food are amazing. Special shoutout to chef Chris for cooking delicious dinners 10/10!

GGuest UserThe room is large, with a courtyard, and a little bit of a Maldivian feel, but no hair dryer was found. The food is good, the taste is OK, the ingredients are fresh, and it is slightly more expensive than other nearby restaurants. The service is still quite enthusiastic, especially the on-demand food service staff for breakfast, who are very enthusiastic and proactively ask if there are any dishes that need to be ordered. Proactive service is precious and feels very good. However, the front desk service is perfunctory, seemingly enthusiastic but not solving the problem. After waiting for a long time, no one took the initiative to tell us that we can check in. We went to the front desk to ask, and a few chatty waitresses smiled and said that it was ok now. When we left, we missed the boat because the front desk arranged to wait for the water taxi. Obviously, we were very anxious and asked many times, but the front desk told us that there was no problem. The boat is often late. I asked them to call the shipping company to inform us that we have not boarded the boat yet, and I guess there was no communication. I was speechless. The service to customers should not be just superficial enthusiasm. I hope to really solve problems for guests instead of creating problems.
