The onsen quality in Gero district is really superior. Skin feels very silky. The floor structure can feel confusing but we got used to it very quickly. The hotel offers good onsen and kaiseiki experience at economical price. Lots of local Japanese so it felt very authentic. The only downsides are 1. lack of entertainment options eg local performance, art & craft for young kids 2. Very crowded breakfast time. They could arrange different breakfast halls to divert the crowd or give timeslot tickets in advance.

Lovely stay at this hotel. The onsen was so nice to soak in at the end of a long day of hiking. The breakfast spread was delicious with a large Japanese spread and a small western spread. I really enjoy the local food specialities that they had available for breakfast like soba with grated mountain yam, peanut miso grilled on a leaf, rice Dango with a peanut sauce, and warabi mochi.

This hotel is near city center. The excellent breakfast make your day pleasure. The bed was comfortable. There are a lot of different body masks in the onsen. It help to relax after the city tour.

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the JR station, and popular attractions like the Hida Takayama Old Town are just a 10-minute walk away. Coming back to the hotel for a relaxing hot spring bath in the evening was wonderful. The hotel's breakfast was also quite good. Highly recommended!

Onyado Yuinsho was located about 27 mins walk up the hill from shirakawa go bus terminal. It is possible to walk there as it’s a quiet path along the road pavement and a lot of scenery to see. But it’s not advisable unless you miss the 1st shuttle bus to hotel at 3pm. Reason is due to the bears signboards located along the road indicating possible bear attacks. The shuttle bus service is good at scheduled timing available at their website. Service, food and facilities are top notch. I love their attention to details. I will highly recommended you include breakfast and dinner in hotel as the eatery are all about 20 mins walk away and lighting outside hotel is poor at night. The onsen is a must try with different types of cold, hot water, fountain, sit down, indoor and outdoor. The whole hotel is carpeted so schools are not allowed. Overall I love the unique experience and their attention to details.

This is a well-established, classic hotel. As foreign tourists, we definitely took advantage of local resources here. The Chinese restaurant inside isn't really worth trying, but unfortunately, it was the only option available for reservations on the day we stayed. The hot springs, however, were fantastic; it was lovely to quietly enjoy the beauty of fewer people during the off-season. Breakfast was also very good, and all the guests were polite and queued orderly, which made for a harmonious atmosphere – something I hope all travelers can experience. To the right of the main entrance, there are geta (wooden clogs) you can try on, and a short walk to the nearby river leads to a hot spring footbath, which was very pleasant.

It would be good to inform us for car rental to reserve a parking lot beside the hotel in advance instead of parking one block away from hotel with fee of 500yen. Other than that everything is okay.

The hotel is extremely well-maintained. It boasts a classic 'old money' design which, while showing its age a little, is kept spotlessly clean with not even a hint of mustiness. The hotel service was also excellent, and they certainly didn't relegate foreigners to undesirable corner rooms. For our family of three, including a child, I booked two rooms. The hotel thoughtfully connected them, creating a spacious suite of over 70 square meters. Absolutely superb value for money!

As an onsen resort, the hotel locates away from public transport. However there is free shuttle bus runs between the hotel and the nus station. Advance booking is recommended, especially for the journey to the hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly. Free snacks and soft drinks were provided at the lobby and the lounge. Most rooms were spacious. Breakfast and dinner in elegant Japanese style were provided. The onsens, both indoor and outdoor, were well maintained.

The hotel is right next to the JR and long-distance bus station. Breakfast was acceptable, but cleanliness was just okay – I found several hairs in the bathtub. The room came with a washer-dryer combo and a microwave. There's also a good Hida beef restaurant just a few meters away. However, this hotel isn't very friendly to guests staying for multiple nights or those who book far in advance. I found that booking early and staying longer actually made it more expensive, and I couldn't make any changes mid-stay, which was a very poor experience. Guests planning to stay here should definitely keep this in mind when booking.
