Our stay may have been coloured by the rainy weather because in sunnier times the views from the Leigh Park Hotel would have been even better. The train station to Bath from Bradford upon Avon is very walkable but it is downhill from the hotel (some very steep bits) nearly all the way and after a busy day in Bath we elected to get a taxi back the walk back up that hill would have put a downer on the day (and I normally do 4 mile runs twice a week, so I am pretty fit!) The room we had was really big, as was the bathroom. The shower was really powerful and got warm almost immediately. The staff were really friendly and the the ambience of the hotel was classy. The breakfast area looking out over the grounds was really nice and I'd definitely like to sit there and enjoy a drink on a summer's evening. I managed to charge my electric car with the type 2 charging station. Unfortunately, it only delivered 7 kW so I only managed a small top up. The hotel breakfast was self service but the containers that were holding the food failed to keep it particularly warm. That is something that could be improved. Also the breakfast choice could have been a little wider (e.g. no tomatoes were offered as part of the English Breakfast). Having said that the breakfast tasted good. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would consider visiting again.
What an absolute amazing find. The setting was so beautiful and the room was outstanding and so much nicer than we could have ever imagined. The free standing bath was our favourite, the bed was very comfortable and the settee area was very nice. The staff were very understanding of my sons disability and were very patient and kind. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. One of the nicest places we have ever stayed and cannot wait to return. Could have easily stayed there for days
This hotel is very pleasant, I like the hotel environment, it is really beautiful, the front desk service is also warm, the breakfast is rich, the bed is very comfortable, all of which makes us feel very good.
I stay at The Angel three or four times annually and have done so now for a number of years.
The location is excellent for me to visit family who live nearby. Parking at Sainsbury’s (through the gate at the rear of the courtyard) is convenient, or there is some on-road parking at the front of the property. Rooms are well appointed and always very clean.
On this latest visit I had to request a room change since the door to my room was extremely difficult to unlock and then could not be closed properly from the inside. As a lone female traveller, safety and security is paramount. Unfortunately, as I experienced similar problems on my previous visit a few months ago, it appears that this may be an ongoing issue ( perhaps weather-related) that now needs to be addressed with some urgency.
Facilities: Some old hotels are hundreds of years old after all, but they are well maintained
Hygienic: clean and tidy, but because it is a wooden structure, there is always a musty smell in the corridor, which cannot be removed.
Environment: Very good, there is a door to the yard in the room, go out is the small river, there is a gray, white and two swans, every time you come to breakfast, you will swim over.
Service: very warm and responsive
It was a newly refurbished, lovely hotel, and we were very satisfied with our room and the service. We would love to return, but the duvet cover was torn, the mattress wasn’t very comfortable, and the location was a bit far from the station. Overall, though, it was a good experience.
Room was comfortable and clean.
No breakfast due to no staff. House keeper bless him was apologetic, but said they were short staffed and manager would be a while.
Other customers left, after a long wait we finally managed to speak to manager, who was really not bothered about loosing customers, very disappointing customer service.
Lovely hotel, polite and friendly staff, ample parking, excellent location in the heart of town. Only negative is the stains on the bathroom walls that could easily be removed with a little more attention to detail and the cold tap hardly let out any water. Unfortunately there wasn't any real ale available whilst we were there thus stopping us from enjoying that facility.

GGuest UserA Comfortable Stay with a Few Surprises
As one of Marriott’s brands, I expected a little more, but overall, the hotel delivers the essentials for a pleasant stay. The rooms are very spacious, with two double beds—perfect for a family holiday. The indoor pool and the gym is a nice touch, though it’s worth noting that external guests can also use it.
Things to keep in mind:
Parking – There’s a £7.50 per night charge, which feels a bit steep. The website mentions free parking for conference delegates, so it might be worth asking at check-in.
Holding Charge – A £50 pre-authorisation is applied to your card. While common in some places, many UK chains no longer do this, so plan ahead if your card balance is tight.
TV Experience – The TV system could use an upgrade. Menu and guide functions weren’t available, and picture quality was poor—even on HD channels.
Room Details – The room was spotless, but we noticed condensation on the windows and a slight odd smell on arrival. Nothing major, but worth mentioning.
Overall:
The hotel offers the comfort and space you’d expect from a reputable brand, but a few details—like parking, the TV system, and the holding charge—felt out of step with Marriott’s usual high standards. Still, if you’re looking for a clean, spacious room and good facilities, it’s a solid choice.
GGuest UserBeds, t.v, storage, tea facilities, hair dryer and shower were fine but toilet did not flush well and only one lift working.
When you are on the fourth floor with luggage, you do not want to climb stairs, but people, particularly the cleaners can intercept lifts and you end up stuck in the lift for ages, because it does not go to the floor that was pre pressed.
Breakfast was good and location good, but checking in was slow. Receptionist also asked me how to pronounce and spell my surname which did make me laugh because it is one of the most common surnames around that being Wilson. Mind you, her English was very poor and I had difficulty understanding her. It was alright but if I were to go again, I would choose the premier in next time. That one looked better.
GGuest UserOur stay at this hotel left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. While I wouldn't go so far as to say avoid it entirely, I can't recommend it or see myself returning.
The room, advertised as having a king-size bed, disappointingly turned out to be a double. Despite the hotel's emphasis on green choices, the room was unbearably warm upon arrival. We had to open both the windows and the door just to cool it down. This lack of basic comfort seemed counterintuitive to their eco-conscious branding.
Furthermore, small but crucial amenities were absent, such as a hairdryer, and some lights weren't working. The absence of an in-room phone meant there was no easy way to request these missing items, adding to the overall inconvenience.
The breakfast experience was equally disappointing. The so-called buffet consisted of a small, albeit pleasant, continental breakfast. However, being asked immediately upon arrival if we'd like to pay an additional £10 for a cooked breakfast made the setup feel misleading. At £14.50, the continental breakfast alone did not feel like good value.
The restaurant also had a notice about a £2.50 charge for menu amendments. While I understand the principle of upcharges, this particular policy felt excessive and off-putting.
These issues were compounded by a lack of personal touches that form the foundation of good customer service. No one asked at checkout or during breakfast how our stay had been, a small but impactful gesture that could have mitigated some of our disappointments.
In hindsight, I feel I overpaid by about 20-30% compared to the value I received. Knowing what I do now, I likely wouldn't have chosen this hotel for our stay.
GGuest UserUsed before and will definitely use again, super smooth check in and great comfortable rooms.
The swimming pool is a massive bonus, very friendly staff, they are a real credit to the Hotel brand.
KKhooI wouldn’t think anything would go wrong as with one-night stays at a lot of the hotels I’ve stayed at. I love the unique the hotel exudes, very much accentuated with the internal steps, turns and multiple corridors. It can be rather challenging if you have heavy luggage, especially when it’s more than a piece. Thumbs up for Jamie (the receptionist on shift) as he has been of great help. I’d give the full English breakfast a miss if I’d stay for more than a day as it’s virtually drenched in oil. There’s a pressure pump in the bathroom which sounds every 20 minutes and that made it difficult to sleep as I’m a light sleeper. The room which I have been assigned heats up when the sun hits the west facade of the hotel and it’s very uncomfortable if one doesn’t leave the room. All in all a pleasant stay and I hope my feedback will provide some impetus for improvement.
Mmartin tyleeI remember watching the hotel being built and said I would never stay there! How wrong I was! It's so quiet and very convenient for everything. Good choice of food for breakfast, even gluten free!
The staff were always polite and helpful, replenishing food as it was used. Choice of coffee/tea.
Can fully recommend this hotel and would/will definitely stay there again! Thank you Holiday Inn express!

SShawn_S.I had a pleasant stay at The George Hotel. The location is excellent and very convenient, especially for visiting Stonehenge. The room was clean and comfortable, and the heating with adjustable temperature was a big plus during winter. Breakfast was served on time and was decent. Overall, a good value stay with a great location.
