The hotel is just walking distance from train station & bus terminal to take bus to places of interests. Small town - eating places aplenty. Family mart and Lion Dor is in the front and back of hotel.
Breakfast is healthy and simple. Staff offer practical suggestion.
Room is clean . Amenities provided . Change of towels can be offered by hanging a bag of new towels on the door . Not intrusive.
The service was warm and attentive, and the hotel facilities were well-maintained and thoughtfully designed. If you're not driving, be sure to book the shuttle bus. The buffet dinner was definitely a highlight. Personally, I found the tatami somewhat firm.
Slightly out of the way but hotel was comfortable. Would be better if there were more shuttle bus timings though. Staff were nice especially kikuchi! He went above and beyond to ensure that we made it in time so we could purchase what we needed
The Knot Utsunomiya is a brand‑new hotel (opened December 2025) with a prime location directly opposite Utsunomiya Station, and it does feature a stylish café and restaurant. However, my overall stay was disappointing.
- Check‑in & Service: Staff seemed inexperienced and a bit confused. When I requested extra pillows, I was told only one extra could be provided because the hotel “does not have so many pillows,” which felt unusual for a new property.
- Lobby & Atmosphere: The lobby music was very loud, making the space feel noisy rather than welcoming.
- Room Design: The room looked spacious at first glance, but the layout wasn’t practical. The table was tiny, leaving little space to put personal items. It felt like the design prioritized appearance over usability.
- Noise Issues: Soundproofing was poor. I could hear conversations from the next room and even snoring at night. In the morning, housekeeping staff made loud noises while cleaning other rooms, which disturbed my rest.
- Positives: The café and restaurant are nice, and the location opposite the station is extremely convenient.
Overall: While the hotel is new and well‑located, the service, noise control, and room functionality need improvement. Hopefully, with time and experience, The Knot Utsunomiya will refine its operations and deliver a more comfortable stay.
It's bigger than the other Fairfield inns I've stayed in Japan. Connected to a roadside station with restaurants and an expensive grocery store. Across the street from an onsen. I still love the design. My lady and I eat breakfast and dinner in the lobby kitchen area. We love that we can use the microwave and toaster to warm up our meals. The free instant miso soup is yummy.
Location: Fantastic! Both train stations and the bus terminal are within sight, making transportation incredibly convenient. There's a large supermarket about 600-700 meters away, which is great for groceries.
Room: The triple room isn't small, and the beds are comfortably firm. The heating in the room was a bit strong, and a humidifier would have been nice.
Amenities: You can pick up various toiletries at the front desk. On the first floor, there's a self-service coffee and tea bar, which is lovely for relaxing with a drink and enjoying the view after a day out. The hot spring has both indoor and outdoor pools, but there are only five showers. If you go during off-peak hours, it's not crowded. The large public bath only has a hairdryer, no lotions or anything else.
Breakfast: The menu changes daily. While not super extensive, the overall quality is excellent. The Japanese curry rice is delicious, and the bread is also good.
This Japanese hotel offered spacious rooms, beautiful gardens, and an uncrowded onsen. However, there was no private shower in the room, meaning we had to use the communal bath for washing. The toilet area was very small, and the facilities felt quite dated. Breakfast was more about presentation than substance, and frankly, not very tasty. While they offer a shuttle service to the JR station, it only runs at limited times, making it quite inconvenient.
This hotel is super convenient! It's just a short walk from Sano Shintoshi Bus Terminal, and Sano Premium Outlets is also within walking distance. Plus, there's a convenience store nearby.
The public bath was a nice touch, and it wasn't too crowded, so I was able to really relax. I especially loved the herbal scent of the shampoo, conditioner, and body soap.
I'd definitely stay here again if I have the chance!
Walk distance from the Kinugaoka station. But the main bridge is the worst place, it was soooooo cold with huge wind!!! We visited in mid March but the wind was freeezing cold!!
Japanese staffs were sort of…a little unique than the other hotels I visited.. they are not that much informative, but ask a lot of questions, they are happy to answer.
Spacious room, lobby area is nice to chill out with Nama beer, hot spring was amazingly clean and calming. They offer to visit Plaza hotel hot spring which I don’t recommend, it was very dirtly(I could see the green moss in the main bath. Ceiling with covered with black fungus yikes.)
I had a truly wonderful stay at Hatago Nagomi. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. The staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. Their hospitality made us feel so welcomed and comfortable throughout our stay.
The food was absolutely amazing. Every meal was beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared. The dishes were not only delicious but also showcased the freshness and quality of the ingredients. It was truly a highlight of our trip.
The view from the hotel was breathtaking. Overlooking Lake Chuzenji, the scenery was peaceful and stunning, especially in the morning. Waking up to such a beautiful view made our stay even more memorable.
Thank you to the entire team at Hatago Nagomi for the excellent service, super nice food, and unforgettable hospitality. We would definitely love to come back again!
