Centurion Properties in Tokyo

Centurion Hotel Ueno was a complete disappointment, falling short of basic hospitality standards. The deception started right at check-in: the room was explicitly advertised and booked as a ”Casual Double Bed,” but what we actually received was a cramped single bed. This blatant misrepresentation immediately compromised the comfort of our stay. The lack of care extended into the bathroom, which was a major letdown. The sink and shower area were marred by very bad, visible marks that made the entire space feel neglected and unhygienic. For a hotel that positions itself in a convenient location like Ueno, the absolute disregard for accurate room descriptions and rigorous housekeeping is unacceptable.

As a frequent traveler to Japan, I'm quite familiar with Japanese hotels. While the room was small (which is typical for hotels in great locations), it cleverly featured bunk beds, and surprisingly, the beds were quite spacious. It was perfectly fine even with kids! The location is absolutely fantastic. As soon as you step out, there are tons of menus everywhere, and you can walk to anything you want to eat. Ueno itself is a place where you'll never struggle to find food, and personally, I think it's hard to go wrong – everything is delicious. You'll feel like your mouth and stomach aren't big enough! Although the price went up for the last two days, it was understandable given the season and crowd. After all, the location is the value. The location is very good, many shops & restaurant nearby the hotel. The service is good. Unlucky, the lift was damaged in the first day when we check-in. The staff is very helpful to send our luggage to our rooms by stair. Work hard!! The room temperature is high as the capacity of A/C is small in such a big room.

Location is perfect — only a 5-minute walk from the station, making it very convenient for getting around. I stayed for 5 nights and the accessibility was definitely one of the biggest advantages. The hotel is also next to a nice garden, which provides a pleasant atmosphere and a relaxing place to walk around. There are also plenty of shops, restaurants, and places to explore nearby, so the surrounding area is very convenient. However, the room was very small, and considering the high price, I expected better value for money. While the location and surroundings are excellent, I believe there are other hotels that can offer a better overall experience at a similar price point.

Not far from the subway station, which makes getting around very convenient. There are many restaurants downstairs. The service attitude was great, very warm and welcoming. The hotel was also very quiet. I would definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit Tokyo.

Location is absolutely perfect. Very well connected with 4 metros stations nearby. Room is bigger than average in Tokyo. Staff was helpful. They have small kids corner so our 5 year old can play a bit while we were waiting at reception. Lots of food options nearby, it is a busy area late night but we did not hear much noise. Rooms has windows however those are facing the wall of the next building and it is kind of dark even with curtains open. We stayed there initially for 4 nights and then decided to extend for another 2 night as we liked the place.

Every time I go to Tokyo, I always stay at this hostel because the location is super close to the station. There are lots of street food options and 7/11s around, plus they have a washing machine, dryer, and best of all, a sauna! 🤩

This is a great hotel – very clean, hygienic, and tidy. They clean the rooms daily, and there are absolutely no unpleasant odors in the restrooms, showers, or bedrooms. You need to wear slippers in all areas of the hotel; if you don't have any, you can purchase a pair from the front desk. The location is excellent, very close to the subway station and other amenities. It has a common lounge area, a large public bath, and free, fast WiFi with a strong signal. The staff are very friendly and will even make your bed and change your linens and pillows daily (you can choose whether or not to have this service). The only minor drawback is that sometimes the air conditioning isn't turned on promptly, which can make it a bit warm. You can open the blinds 15% to help with ventilation. Overall, it's perfect for solo travelers.
